Firestorm torpedo yield ?

Post by Resleever » Wed, 12. Aug 09, 04:42

I have looked in the encyclopedia at firestorm torpedo for the yield and it says 1.0M.

I downloaded the stats compendium and all it has is ####.

I understand when it says eg:300K (hammer heavy torpedo) but , not sure about what the 'M' is in relation to 'K' value.

Does this mean 1000K?Most of the posts that I have read talk of the damage it does but no hard sta

The stat compendium says #### cause you need to make the colum wider.

If firestorm torpedos do 1.0M damage. That's the same as knocking out 1G of shielding.

The K at the end means "kilo" (in other words, thousand) and in the game, its talking in terms of Joules, so 300K would be 300000 Joules. In turn M stands for million, so 1M would be 1000000 Joules.

So yes, 1.0M indeed is 1000K.

K is kilo
M is mega, not million. But the value doesn't change, it's one million.

Yes, when talking about shields and weapons, but with missiles it is safe to assume that M stands for million, TC isn't very consistent with its standard indexing.

It doesn't make any practical difference, but in this instance, M does indeed stand for million. The shields are measured in megajoules, not joules. 1MJ, 5MJ, 25MJ, 200MJ, 1GJ(1000MJ), 2GJ(2000MJ). In this case 1.0M damage is the equivalent to 1GJ of shielding. A note: Hammerheads are listed as 1.2M but I believe they actually do 1.25M.

It is still Mega. Not million.

Mega = million.
Kilo = Thousand.

Why would they use one standard for one thing, and another standard for another?
1000M (1,000,000) "damage units" takes away 1Gj (1,000,000,000J) of shielding.
