Introduction of the X-UNIVERSE.

"Welcome to the modular mod for X3: Terran Conflict, the mod has been in the works since early August 2009 when it started out as an experiment for the X1: past and future mod. It quickly out grown that and now has been a popular addition to the game for many modders. I have designed the mod so that you can install the features that you want with one requirement of have the main mod which supplies the base files but it does not change any game play aspects.

I am constantly build to the various aspects of the mod and always looking for new unique additions so if you have an idea please tell me."




Goals of the mod.
  • Smaller Universe
  • More Battles.
  • Smoother.
  • Easy to install
  • Much more difficult for experienced players.
  • Graphics which I think looks best.
  • New game starts.
  • I believe simplicity is best!


Possible Future Goals of the mod.
  • New Ships.
  • New Quest.
  • New Music.

Guide:
The mod is split up into several bits, this allows you to have what you want in the mod.

Due to this being smaller than the x1: past and future mod I have been trying to use the plugin manager again. Its not exactly what I want as it is not very stable. But it does give some good features.

Download the beta 1.1 version in .spk form here: http://[blocked due to google malware warning]/xu/XUNIVERSE.spk

The other .spk updates ect can be downloaded here: http://[blocked due to google malware warning]/xu/

you can also try the update mod package in the plugin manager, but it might not work and there is a beta 1.2 on the server which is not finished and doesn't work.

I don't know how to remove them if you have already started, but if you starting a new game. This file may work (haven't tried):

Just download it and create new directory called 'director' in the x3tc directory. (so for example it should be C:\Program Files (x86)\EGOSOFT\X3 Terran Conflict\director\start.xml

Its a modified egosoft start file, and is not the same one in this mod so some of the starts won't work. I will deactivating the plots for this mod in the next update as the universe is incompatible.

Other than that, I can't see an easy way around it. Until the next update of the mod.

I have had some success at last with the mod, found out why it was crashing every time I add a specific ship. So I can now get on with it (when i'm not working).

For those of you who want to do some testing for me, can you see if the new 1.2 version (in its current state) is an improvement and more stable.
You can download it [url=http://[blocked due to google malware warning]/xu/]here[/url], its the one under the unfinished header.

This is an update, so you need the [url=http://[blocked due to google malware warning]/xu/XUNIVERSE.spk]previous version[/url] installed!


Changes so far:
-> Quicker menu
-> New load screen
-> New text files
-> Added split M2
-> Added new argon ferrous (m3) {not in shipyards yet}
-> change in graphics

What I don't know:
-> how compatible with saves it is
-> other mods
-> stability over a long time

What I would like to know:
-> Bugs
-> Suggestions

I'm trying to iron out the bugs of the mod, so i'm putting version 1.2 on hold and going to sort the mod out.

What I am going to do:
-> Remove the ships for now
-> Remove anything that is causing a problem
-> Re-build the mod's base so it is stable, quick and enjoyable without any ships atm.

yep, it is the hud from the x1: past and future mod. It needs a lot of work which I will be doing later:

Uploaded the beginning of the X2 Ship Replacement mod, this mod will replace the x3 ships with x2 ones. Only the argon ts and tl changed atm, just as a test. version 0.0.0.2 will have all the argon ships changed.

Due to the x2 addon mod having a changed universe to the x2 one, I have experienced some problems such as terran ships starting around you when you start, don't know what causes it Confused . Also it freezes a couple of minutes later. So I created a x3tc map addon for that addon to temporally fix the problem.

If you already got part of the mod installed you could always go to UPDATE -> Find new scripts in the plugin manger. Smile

Uploaded the X2 Addon v0.0.0.2 -

This time all the x3 ships (which existed in x2) have now been replaced with x2 ships. They should all be working perfectly just some minor points:

- The bigger ships are not using 125 mw shields because they don't exist anymore, so I tried to make them use a similar amount of 200 mj shields for now.

- Docking on the m6 doesn't work.

- Have not implemented the cockpit yet / it doesn't seem to be working.
