Aesthetic greetings!

I found an idea in the german forums (... i'm german ...), that is a few years old: Serial MultiPlayer X (for X-Tension)
There are several players, who plays one after the other. The first one starts and plays for a while, then the savegame will be send to the next player, who will continue to play, and then the next player, etc.
What do you think about the idea, to make this now for X³TC?

There are a few rules:
  • no SE (Scripteditor)
  • Vanilla 2.0a (2.1)
  • Possessions (Stations & Ships) named with Nick. This are informations for other players (Who had buyed what?).
  • Don't touch possessions of other players (don't sell / destroy - except with permission).
  • Don't delete the LOG!
  • You have 3 days to play, then you must send it to the next player (regardless, whether you play 1h or 24h/d)
  • max. 10 Players (one player = 3 days; 10 players = 1 turn 1 month)
  • If you send it to the next player use every time: SLOT 1 (Xsav01)
If there are more then 10 players who are interrested in this, we can start several SMPX3tc's.

A player could engage in more than 1 shared game, instead of waiting 3x(number of players-1) days to get the game...

Reason?

It will give each one a taste of how others play and may well improve or modify our own style of play.

That's right. But for the statistics, it's not reallys practicable (for the man, who must made it). ;)

I create a forum like the german one [here]. Everybody who want's to join the SMPX³tc can [register] and say ['here i am']. ;)
I need a moderator. The problem is, that i don't have the english version of the game, so i don't know the [starts] (in english language).

Can't you just switch to English during the installation? Has to be, otherwise the English folks would be rather confused, I suppose...
If people have ownership how does it work when the fleet of player No.2 gets ganked by the Khaak and wiped out?
Then it wasn't your fault, was it?
Unless you deliberately jump into their territory.

Save it. ;)
Several (different) players, but one character.
The fleet of other players are your strength. Your fleet is the strength of other players.

The same with the credits.
If you earn credits, you help other players. Other players earn credits for you.

Same with stations (factorys) and ships (sector / universe traders).
All for one. One for all.

By keeping the full log,you can see what ships were destroyed, if any,and have a clue as to how.

Should we have one save location for all players,or should each player have a final save location?

If the former we only get to see the auto-saves and not see what the third player before us was doing.

If the latter,we can ascertain the general direction the game is going,or if someone is just wrecking havoc every time. ...

..eg generally the character is on good terms with most races,but one player decides to go pirating and upsets the status-quo every time he gets to play.

I do not understand German,so I have not been able to look at your sites properly....so are there a list of rules (do's and Don't's) for the way you guys over there play?

I think we should have a basic set of rules which can be adjusted as time goes on,if necessary.But hopefully everyone will be sensible ?

I forsee one problem

as every body is playing with one account. fither rank can be huge after 9 players have played and then try to get started fithing ad all.

I think we should use an english version for the forum. I went through the registration and I could probably do it guessing this and that, but I would feel a little uncomfortable. :roll:

In the german SMPC³tc we have an own FTP Server to upload the savegames.
Named with sav, round, date and nick (example: X01_R1_20052009_TP.rar).

For this we got the statistic topic (de).

It's a short way to show other players, what you have done.

Example:
* Captured Terran TL (Atmospheric Transporter).
* Buyed Boron SPP (L). Build up in Elysium of Light.
* Buyed 10 Mistrals (L) and 2 Argon Mercurys (L).
- Mistral Sector-Traders (training to universe-traders) in: Elysium of Light, Ore Belt, Paranid Prime, Bala Gi's Joy, Light Water, Seizewell, Family Whi, Saturn, Venus and Aldrin.
- 2 Mercurys and 200.000 Credits for the SPP
* Making some 'protect factorys' Missions.
* Making some 'Buy Stations' Missions.
...
* Buyed Terran TL and Argon TL.
* Now we have: 20 Credits ;)

I killed some borons in the split sectors, so the borons are not friendly yet.
But i made a few Yaki Missions, so we can dock on there stations (shipyard!). But the teladis hates us now ...

Think, we must talk about.
What's the big goal? A trader company? To play as an pirat?
Think it's like, which start you choose.
If all (the most) choose a teladi start, most of the time you will trade and build up factorys.
If you start as a pirat, most of the time you will make 'escort' missions or capturing ships.
But the one does not exclude the other.

The rules in my first post (look above), are the same.
It's all we need and we don't have problems.
Okay ... we're saying: "We need the Yaki as friends, so don't accept missions with yakis as enemys! Don't attack Yakis! We need the pirat as friends, so don't attack pirates in sectors with piratststions!" (Info: We're playing as Bankrupt Assassin O'ren Rock)

I installed an english language pack (british) in the forum.
You can talk english; the most users can speak english.

A little help:
Promenade => Off Topic
Holodeck => Creative Forum
Maschinenraum => Technical Support

In the german language pack the buttons are in english too.
Why? I made it so ... :D

In the german language pack the buttons are in english too.
I keep seeing everything in german. And the only button in english is New Topic.

I don't mind about the general stuff, all forum applications are more or less the same, I'm just a little concern about the registration and accepting something that I don't understand.

It's the same you accept in all forums ... ^^
Okay, now all should be in english (standard).

Perhaps i will modify the language pack a little bit. Like the games and novels. In the german language pack i modfied it already. So a 'hour' is a 'stazura', 'yes' is 'hai', 'no' is 'iie'; and many other little things. :D Perhaps i don't do it ...
