additional support for more then 2gb ram 2.0

Post by BlackRain » Wed, 15. Apr 09, 05:57

I thought I read in some thread that there was a switch or something in the new TC 2.0 to activate the additional support for more then 2gb of ram but I am not seeing it. I just updated on steam.

Is the support automatic or must it be turned on because I remember someone saying they were able to turn it on or off.

It is a switch in the exe itself and in 2.0 it is turned on by default. If you use CFF explorer you can turn it on or off.

If you're running 32-bit Windows you also need to enable the /3GB switch in the BOOT.INI file to make use of this--won't make any difference otherwise.

Or execute bcdedit if you're running Vista 32bits

Is this fix for 32-bit only or does it help with a 64bit vista install?

And if only 32 bit are there any performance hacks for 64bit which enable increased memory usage?

A 64-bit Windows install effectively already has the /3Gb switch enabled for 32-bit applications like X3, so if you have enough RAM it should make a difference, yes.
