Problem with Cmod3 (X3TC)

Hi

I've been using Cmod3 for a while now, but I've ran into a problem. All capital ships are using CIG's! I thought I saw something about this issue on the TXU forum with a fix and everything, but unfortunately that is down for the moment.

Does anyone here use Cmod3, and have implemented this fix, if there is one? If so, is there any easy way for me to do it as well? (I'm pretty sure the fix was an edit to a text file or something, not a patch/plugin)

It wasn't much of an issue for me before, as I was only using an M3. Now that I've climbed to an M6, however, Capital combat is right up my alley... which will probably kinda suck if my opponents only fling CIG's at me...

I seem to see references to this "Cmod3" frequently. Too bad I have no idea what it is. It would help if the Rule No 12 of [url=http://forum.egosoft.com/viewtopic.php?t=216696][b]T[/b][b]C[/b] [b]S[/b]&M Posting [b]R[/b]ules[/url] would be followed. It really would. :goner:


EDIT: As it seems that the authors of this "Cmod3" have not created a support thread on this Forum, nor are able to support their work where-ever they normally reside, I'll let this thread to remain open (at least for a while) for the community to use with their Cmod3 problems.

I think ulfius created a plugin to replace the CIG with the Alpha PPC, so i guess that's the fix you are on about. But i don't have that mod on my website :(, you just got to wait until the TXU is back up

No, quite the opposite, actually. :(

The plugin you mention is actually the one creating the problems. It replaces the CIG with APPC (as it is meant to do, I think), but also makes every single capital ship out there equip themselves with the now redundant CIG weapon. :P

I guess that explains why when people mention it, I've not known what they are talking about.

If it doesnt have a thread here, it doesnt get seen by me.

Someone should point out to the modders that not having a support thread here is resulting in potential users never knowing the mod exists.

As far as I'm awared, this is a known problem and there's no fix.

the additional file/plugin is to let toggle the weapon produced from the CIG factory either produce the CIG or the A-PPC guns

and with the proper 7047-L044.xml installed, the MARS will properly use either the CIG --OR-- A-PPC gun

But the CIG will still spawn on AI ship regardless how you setup

What I did is disable the MARS for AI, so only I can enjoy it
since AI spawned ship don't spawn with A-PPC, so they will fight using the vanila (no chg) script/logic engine with their CIG

Shame really because this mod is definitely worth the attention. My experience with TC has gone from great to awesome after I installed it - combat becomes much more challenging and visual effects are (keeping in mind personal taste of course) alot better + on top of that, better performance.

On a sidenote, I assume they chose not to post here so people would join their community. Though I don't see an issue with starting a topic here and linking to an outside source, or just having one for general questions that might be answered by posters here.

No one is going to join what they dont know about !

The accepted practice is a thread here that announces the mod, a place for general comments and questions, that links back to the parent mod site. Those who want to go there will go there.

I for one hate having to register with a new forum just to download something, so if the download was behind their forum login, I'd ignore it anyway.

There is being community concieous, and then theres being unreasonable in expecting people to join yours.

I completely agree. Fortunately the download is public, as well as the forums.

So its just a matter of having a contact over here to set it up. Hell, if nobody is up for it I might even do it myself, if I have approval of both parties that is.

atm i'm looking after the mod for ulfius, he's been away for a month and I don't when he will be back. If you need a topic over here I will set one up, I have some of the links but I will still need to wait until the TXU is back up for the others.

pretty sure you just have to delete the APPC entry from Cmod's Tlasers.

it's to do with the weapon installation logic, which apparently has all the weapons weighted for different sizes and classes of ship. installing a new weapon without fiddling with the game's core behaviours regarding this causes it to be super-preferable to all AI ships.

you can down it from here: http://www.[blocked due to google malware warning]/x3tc/index.php but the plugins are not there. I will be starting a topic about cmod3 in this forum. There are two many of these topics and this one probably will be locked
