In Issue 35 of the X-Universe News, we carried the exclusive announcement of the release of X3: Gold, as revealed by Egosoft Managing Director, Bernd Lehahn. The launch of this title, which will be available in Germany and across the EU, is scheduled for 9 April 2009.
This collector's edition, which is officially called 'X³: Gold Edition', contains both X3 games, including all updates and expansions.
The latest X³: Terran Conflict expansion, entitled 'The Aldrin Missions' will appear for the first time in this package and includes many new missions, new ships and sectors.
X³: Gold Edition represents a stunning conclusion to the X Trilogy and makes for countless hours of gameplay enjoyment.
As well as providing the player with boundless gameplay possibilities, the X3: Gold Edition also contains a Soundtrack CD with the music from X3: Terran Conflict.
Both games now allow access to the new 'Personal Uplink', part of Egosoft's online community. Using this facility players can compare their X-Universe statistics with one another.
The X3: Gold Edition pack features the following:
- X3: Reunion 2.5 including The Bala Gi Missions
- X3: Terran Conflict 2.0 including The Aldrin Missions
- X3: Terran Conflict Soundtrack CD
- X-Universe Personal Uplink access

You realize I'm going to have to buy this, just to have the full set.
Actually it will be good to have a disc version of the upcoming TC 2.0,
having the patch files on hard disk just isn't quite the same somehow.
Shame it's the 'conclusion', well there'll always be the possibility of expansion mods I suppose (hope).

btw the press release seems wrong on the:

as far as i know :
the only new ship is

| the miner version of the baldric. (its a variant not a new ship) |

and the otas sirokos (tho this thing was in the game when it launched so i might be mistaken)
if i am mistaken, please correct me (dont need to spoil the surprise)
my wish. PLEASE ADD THE XTM VALHALLA to the game. (at least as unique ships ) PLEASE....

Will Koch be releasing this to other retailers or will it only be purchaseable through steam and ES shop?
I'd like to pre-order through GAME if possible for their reward program. (Also, selfishly, I have a gift card I want to use from Christmas and have been waiting for the right purchase to use it).
On a side note, any possibility ES/Publishers might provide T-Shirts/Mugs/Baseball Caps or any extra merchandise. Be nice to find other ways to support.

They presumably want to make money from it, so the answer would be yes. Steam is a publisher in their own right - I don't know whether it's a separate deal or whether Koch sublicenses to steam, but regardless, they will want the retail sales as well, I'm sure.
:EDIT: Actually, I don't know that steam would have any part in this particular release anyway.

Yes, I hope this gold version will come in Croatia.
I have all X-Gold,X2-The threat, X3-Reunion, X3-Reunion game of the year edition. But i need to buy X3-TC but i can't find it in retail store. I don't like steam. I will not buy a game and then i need to store it on my HD drive. It is nice to have cd-version on shelf. It is nice to see all game in order and so on.... I hope this X3-TC gold will came in croatia, X3-TC didn't.

Too bad the collector version came so long after the release of the TC. I already have both games - TC and R. I was sad there was no collector edition of the TC and now I am sad I already bought the regular version.

Bear in mind that this statement holds true for people buying these games for the first time, not necessarily for those of us who already own and have played X3R and X3TC and see this as a collector's edition.
As for availability in various territories, we'll try and let you know as soon information becomes available. I imagine it's fairly unlikely that X3: Gold Edition will be sold outside the territories already specified in previous press releases (i.e. 'Germany and some EU countries')... sorry!

Will we be able to order it from the Egosoft Shop? And if so, will we be able to put in a pre-order? Because this is something I think I really, really want. And don't want to have to wait to get it here in Aussie.

After it being hard to come by for a month, Play finally had it in stock, and shipped it today. If I only waited another 4 weeks....
