Elephant.

Post by Merroc »

Just wanted to tell the world i just bought an Elephant in my game. Second TL ive ever owned in any X game, the first would be the paranid one in X2 . Which remembers me i build like 40 stations in another X2 game without owning a TL :o , so all with rented TLs... damn.. :S

Finaly feels like im at the head of something :D. Now to get money again... ><.

Shame i cant dock TPs there tho... guess ill have to do an effort to load it up with EC :).

:o You mean you actually bought a TL.
I take it you haven't leant the art of Piracy yet then :pirat:
5 reasonable trained grunts plus an arena or cosino (or if your really evil a Hospital ship) = free TL for you
Just beware of the local security forces they may take exeption to you borrowing there ships.
Some of the captains are think thou, tell them it was all a mistake and if they buy it well ok but if not run like hell

That's assuming he's playing Terran Conflict.

Anyways, congratulations Merroc! Purchasing my first TL was a pretty significant milestone in my book; that Mammoth gave me the first taste of handling a capital-sized craft in the X-universe.
Admitting you have a problem is the first step in figuring out how to make it worse.

Yes, i have actually bought an (TC) TL yes. Ive got 0 marines, ive got 0 knowledge how to use them and ive got 0 interest in that sort of piracy atm. What i did have was about 20 mil :P.

And yeah it feels like a big milestone. having to turn around taking 2 minutes lol... Im so gonna use it as my base of operations accepting combat missions all around the universe, all the ships i cap can dock nicely in the TL, transfer their cargo and be sold :D.
Of course no capital ship is complete with fighter body guard lol. I had this pirate falcon i capped and used as wingman. Now it can happily defend the TL ^^, it better not run head on into an CIG loaded M6 again tho... :S.

massive cargo-hold and you can stick 14 ships in it..

mine's moored in Argon Prime, away from the space lanes..
any looted wares I pick up are transported over - it's packed with goodies at the moment..

- might have to homebase a CLS or a CAG to start shifting the stuff soon..
- the whole universe is running in BETA mode - we're working on it.. beep..!! :D

Quick, flog it before you get laughed at for buying an elephant instead of a proper TL!

Don't listen to them. The Ellies a fine ship. It will serve well.

The elie is the first TL I go after.

Yes the Ellephant is a great ship, quick and with a good weapons load out, stick CIGs in all turrets. When I do station build missions I tend to use it for that, but when building complexes I use something bigger, the only issue is that the cargo capacity is light, but that is balanced out by the fact you can actually fight in the damn thing though I would not use it against m7's, M1's and M2's while the other TL are very large and slow. When playing Reunion it was my first capital ship, and strangely enough it was also my first in TC as I wanted a fast storage ship, so congrats.

Spaceweed, thats a bit sharp, I have been following your activties on the board and like what you are doing and I think as a strategy for a player building up, either buying or stealing an Elephant is a smart move. I brought mine as well, however I have now started my piracy campaign against the Paranid, which is great fun so I know what you mean :pirat:

I have a Yaki Ryu as my only TL at the moment...slightly slower than the Ellie with 2 fewer docking slots, but 2000 extra cargo. I was determined that I was going to use a captured TL this time round and I didn't want to mess around with casinos etc!

Took you long enough, as i expected this remark :).
I have my reasons for buying the split TL, apart from that its the cheapest, its the best looking (then again i love split design), it has 14 docking ports, it can carry enough stations for a starting station builder (atm i have 0 stations), its the fastest, and has 10k more laser energy than the others.

mostly because its the one i could afford tho, the 144 cargo of the perseus sentinel i was flying was starting to annoy me to no end. I could've bought an M6, but i want to focus on stations now, moreso than fighting...

You didn't need to get a TL if your only problem was cargo space--you could have got a TM; they dock four ships (well, apart from the Yaki Chokaro which only docks 3) and generally have a bit of cargo capacity of their own for jump fuel.

Very true yes, but i'd sooner buy myself a M6 in that case. It might not dock ships, but i would've had more firepower.
Also this saves me the annoyance of finding a willing TL captain ;).

A TM costs less than a tenth of the price of an M6, and you mentioned nothing about wanting firepower, only that you were having trouble with a weedy cargo bay.
