Coming Soon - X3: Terran Conflict 2.0 Updated 18-Mar-09
Würselen, Germany – Egosoft, renowned developer of the acclaimed X Universe computer games, which are available on PC, Mac and Linux, has announced to the press that the latest version of its critically acclaimed title, X3: Terran Conflict, will be available at all major US retail outlets from 7th April 2009.
This latest version entitled X3: Terran Conflict 2.0 – The Aldrin Missions, will feature a host of new missions, new ships and much more great content and is a product of Egosoft’s continuing development of and support for an already outstanding title. The game will be available at all major US retail outlets and on Steam, a leading platform for the delivery and management of PC games and digital content with over 15 million accounts around the world. Existing owners of X3: Terran Conflict (DVD-ROM and Steam) will also be pleased to know that concurrent with the US DVD-ROM release, X3: Terran Conflict 2.0 – The Aldrin Missions will be made available for download as a patch from Egosoft.com and Steam.
“We couldn’t be more excited to get X3: Terran Conflict 2.0 – The Aldrin Missions into our customers’ hands,” said Bernd Lehahn, managing director of Egosoft. “With this new version, we will build on the fantastic critical response to X3 and will deliver a truly memorable experience to the gamer.”
In X3: Terran Conflict 2.0 - The Aldrin Missions the long-lost Terran colony of Aldrin is rediscovered and after many years of isolation, the Terrans are keen to bring the Aldrans back into the fold. The Terrans are making a massive effort to colonise areas of space thought lost or inaccessible. No colonisation is easy and you will not only be asked to help in the shaping of the new frontier but you will also be called upon to provide protection for the colonisation effort against forces determined to oppose the Aldrin expansion. You will be able to build new Terran stations and complexes, a new Terran ship will be available and a host of other new features are introduced as you play a decisive role in the shaping of this new Terran frontier.
X3: Terran Conflict 2.0 - The Aldrin Missions will be published in North America by IGS Games inc.
More news and information about X3: Terran Conflict 2.0 - The Aldrin Missions will be available in the next edition of X Universe News.
Update 18th March 2009 - Blog post by SymTec ltd. detailing the fixes and improvements in Universe traders (Trade Mk3) - Notably the fix for the Standby bug.

I think that is the headline for most forum users.Xenon_Slayer wrote:Existing owners of X3: Terran Conflict (DVD-ROM and Steam) will also be pleased to know that concurrent with the US DVD-ROM release, X3: Terran Conflict 2.0 – The Aldrin Missions will be made available for download as a patch from Egosoft.com and Steam.

It will be interesting to see how 2.0 gets reviewed.

So, it's available as a patch for retail U.S. buyers...
Good!
I just bought the retail store copy of X3:TC three days ago. I didn't want to find out I'd bought an orphan and would be expected to buy a 'big patched' version AGAIN!!!

Finally published in the US!
Dang, some part of me almost wishes I had waited to buy it for this cool new box! Almost
It would have been nice to have it in stores over here (US), but was easy enough to get online anyway. Nice to see Ego pushing to get it to our part of the world!

Good news. I'm tempted to buy another X3TC.
Yes, the continuing development of and support for their games is a very strong point of Egosoft and one of the main reasons why I am a faithful buyer of their games.Xenon_Slayer wrote:... a product of Egosoft’s continuing development of and support for an already outstanding title.

This new release sounds really good! I hope they have improved some things though such as some of the features people have mentioned.
Can't wait!

meh!
Unless they improve the plots and requirements for the Aldrin missions for traders/explorers (non fighters - alternate plot routes would be good), I can't say I'm that interested. The way things currently are, it won't be worth me installing it because I won't ever be able to benefit from the new missions and their rewards.
So much for Think, Build and Trade....

Re: Coming Soon - X3: Terran Conflict 2.0
ive heard in passing about aldarin missions, but this sounds too good to be true
being able to build the terran stations? does that mean i can now remove the "atf shipyard" script
shaping the new frontier?? does this mean Kyle Brennan has been working with the paranid to develop a new gate system an thats why he's never seen in TC, or are they gonna use the terran TOA's
New terran ship? my guess, gotta be a terran M7M
new missions besides the aldarin ones?? bbs or new game starts
7th april?? is that the release date for 2.0 or just plain n simple TC. *starts counting down the days* 48 to go!
just glad i saved my vanilla 1.2.1 games somewhere else

This is GREAT news!
I had abandoned X3 Terran Conflict because lost my collection of special ships when they were all destroyed with no warning while I was OOS.
Had no base because the HUB missions far too difficult, and player HQ did not serve any gameplay purpose, therefore no incentive to get it.
I played and completed GTAIV instead. (Amazing game but after missions pointless.)
X3 suffers the same problem as GTAIV. After player missions completed, (at least the interesting ones), nothing to do. Despite the apparent scope there is no point to the game after the missions are completed, because cannot customise anything, not ships, not stations, not missions, nothing. X3TC Reminds me of Starfleet Command III. Can apparently choose some weapons, but only certain combinations actually work, and overall extremely limited.
No sense of a living, dynamic, universe with a working economy.
Unlike The Witcher, (a brilliant experience) at the moment, X3TC is a very lonely game. And space is so very, very cold.
This patch could breath NEW LIFE into an otherwise dead game.
I hope it does, and I am really looking forward to downloading it to patch my 1.4 version.
I just hope 100s of hours of existing gameplay achievements are not wiped out in the process ... (again.)
For the continuing support and for providing v2.00 upgrade free of charge to existing users, it is appreciated.
Thank you!
