Chapter 19

Josh entered the sector as his ship pulled into a secure place out of the traffic lanes so he could watch the Station as their Agent transported over. Josh looked over at the Station as the reflection from the Sun made it light up in the dark void of space. The meeting had started and had quickly came to a stop as the Security Officer replied. “I need to speak with Mr. Galen I’m willing to transport over to his ship and talk to him in person and the lack of time is a issue so please contact him.”

[Josh] “Sarah have our Agent tell him I’ll transport him onboard.” The ship moved closer to the Station as the Agent transported back to his ship and the Director onboard.
[Josh] “Welcome onboard please have a seat and lets get started.”
[Officer] “Mr. Galen you have a real problem the ship you captured is from the hidden section at the Pirate Base. They are about to launch a ship to remove the device on the Gate in the Sector you are trying to evacuate the People from. If they are successful in removing the device the Gate will disappear removing the Sector from the Gate system stranding everyone their.”

[Josh] “Sarah start evacuating everyone from the Sector now.”
[Officer] “You can stop the ship that’s why I’m here. The Ancients as you call them have been watching you and are impressed with your efforts to save the Goanna and the Humans from their planet and the People from the planet that’s sun is about to blow up.”
[Josh] “Then why don’t they do something to help? As far as I can tell their the ones that caused all this mess anyway by bring people back here in the first place!”
[Officer] “I’m not here to argue with you about who’s at fault. I’m here to offer you a arrangement you take out the Pirate Station it will destroy the hidden section within the base and the ship they are preparing to remove the device on the Gate. The Ancients will send a ship to secure the Gate for 40 days to give your people time to evacuate the Sector and show you a working example of how to use subspace.”

[Josh] “Why don’t they just destroy the Base themselves why involve me?”
[Officer] “You’re already involved when you entered the Sector and stopped the ship from destroying the capitol ship you became a enemy of the ones using the sector to trap ships from the future in. The Sectors sun is about to go nova and destroy the planet. They wanted to enslave the people on the planet and use them to build an army to invade planet after planet building bigger fleets until they control every Sector and race in the Gate System.
Their end goal is to rule the universe and everyone in it and you’re in their way. Destroy the Pirate base Mr. Galen or they will destroy you. You shut down the power generators on the station and most of them will abandon the base. Will you destroy the base?”

[Josh] “What chose do I have? Yes but what about the one in charge on the base what’s to keep him from jumping out and starting all over again?”
[Officer] “The Ancients will take care of her they are waiting for when she jumps her ship out into the Gate system a team is ready to capture her.”
[Josh] “And if she gets away what then?”
[Officer] “She’s not they have a insider and her ship is tagged when she makes the jump it’s over for her. I’ll contact you after the Station is destroyed to tell you if it was a success. Are we all set?”
[Josh] “Yes. I don’t know to shake you hand or wish I never seen you which is?”

The officer stuck his hand out. “A hand shake and good wishes Mr. Galen we are not your enemy.”
Josh shook the Officers hand and transported him back to the Station.
[Josh] “Sarah send a ship to the Venture with the information and have them send a assault group.
Kate be on that ship and take a squad from the Venture and set up at the Station just incase they need the backup.”
[Kate] “Do you want us to contact them?”
[Josh] “Not unless the Station is attacked. I want your ships to stay cloaked and out of contact if all go’s well you’ll never be needed.”
[Kate] “Understood Commander.”



[Sherpa] “We just got orders to evacuate.”
[Assistant] “What do we do now?”
[Mitchell] “You follow orders and evacuate! Don’t fell bad we just got here.”
[Sherpa] “I’ll take as many as I can in my ship, which the AI just said was eight so Mitchell your with me lets go. I just got word it may just be temporary but the threat is real so evacuate.”
As the guards set up defense drones Sherpa her Assistant and Mitchell and his First Officer with four other boarded Sherpa’s ship and left.
[Mitchell] “Where are we headed?”
[Sherpa] “The Judge has jumped in a few sectors over we are to dock with it and wait for the all clear.”

As the ship cleared the Gate the Judge was already in position waiting.
[Mitchell] “What kind of ship is the Judge I see Fighters lunching.”
[Sherpa] “It’s a Destroyer that can dock Fighters. The Judge was the first Destroyer lunched. Computer how many minutes would it take the Judge to destroy Captain Mitchell’s TL if it was new and fully equipped.”
The AI replied. “Less than two minutes to completely destroy the TL.”
[Mitchell] “I understand now why Josh wanted to refit the TL now.”
[Sherpa] “The Judge is a real modern marvel of technology and firepower. If you’re the one with the better ship you tend to call the shots and the Judge and the other Capitol ships in the fleet are the best I’ve ever seen. Just knowing that I’ll be onboard the Judge and on the same side with Josh makes me fill safe.”


Josh and the other ships had moved into position and were ready to start the assault. A Fighter opened fire on the power unit quickly destroying it.
The Station sounded with alarms as the reserve power kicked in. Most of the people onboard the Station were headed for the docks and within two hours the Station had been evacuated. Ships moved into position to transport the repair crews, security and the Clan Leaders off the station and into holding cells and later transported them onto the planet.
As the last man was transported off missiles were fired at the base. A ship lunched from the hidden section into space.
[Josh] “Stop that ship and capture the pilot if you can but stop the ship.”
Two fighters opened up on the ship dropping the shields as the Station exploded in a bright ball of light then Josh heard. “We have the Pilot and are moving to a safe distance away from the enemy ship it is about to explode.”
Josh looked on as the ship exploded sending out a shockwave larger than the station and dropping the shields of the ships letting them know the ship had been carrying missiles capable of doing real damage to them.
As the ship were returning to the group a message came in for Josh. “The mission was a success good job.”
Josh jumped back to the Judge with the other ships and called Sherpa. “Do you want to ride with me a while?”
[Sherpa] “You know I do what about my ship and where are we going?”
[Josh] “Let Mitchell fly it. I’m going back to the sector to watch the Ancients ship repair the Gate.”
[Sherpa] “Are you sure it’s safe or wise to do that?”
[Josh] “Do the Ancients keep their word in the deals they make?”
[Sherpa] “Yes of course why?”
[Josh] “Then we have more 40 days to evacuate the Sector after that the Gate is gone. Are you coming?”
[Sherpa] “Yes do I need my things?”
[Josh] “No just you.”
Josh was waiting at the transporter as Sherpa gave Josh a hug as they set down to talk about all that had happened while the ship jumped back to the sector.
Before Josh was finished Sarah replied. “Commander you are being hailed from a ship that just appeared beside the Gate.”
[Josh] “Sarah keep a close watch on them and put them through. This is Josh Galen please ID yourself.”
[Ship] “We are here to repair and secure the Gate then keep it open for 40 days. You will have to be out of the sector within the 40 days. We ask you only contact us to release control of the sector when you leave. Good luck Mr. Galen.”

Josh and Sherpa watched as the repairs on the Gate started at a accelerated speed.
[Josh] “What just happened did they speed their time up? Where you able to scan all of that?”
[Sarah] “Yes they did and yes I did.”
[Josh] “I thing we just got to see the working subspace field the Ancients promised to show me. Sarah can we copy it and us it to speed up construction on the capitol ship?”
[Sarah] “In theory yes but I need to run a few test on a ship first. It works like the time acceleration device freighter pilots use on long trips to slow their time inside the shields field down just reversed.”
[Josh] “Get started. Inform me when you have it working.” [Sarah] “Understood.”

[Sherpa] “Josh is it safe for the others to return we don’t have much time and we need to get back to work if we’re going to get done in 40 days.”
[Josh] “I want to be out of here in 30 days or less! As soon as the Capitol Ship is finished I want to start transporting people onboard. If this new technology works out the ship will be ready ahead of time. Everyone has been recalled and the ships are entering the system now here’s your ship now.”
Sherpa kissed Josh saying. “Come down with me.”
[Josh] “And do what watch you run around like you seats onfire?”
[Sherpa] “When we’re done here then alright.”
Josh kissed Sherpa saying. “It’s a date.” Sherpa transported over to her ship and returned to the planet while Josh transported over to his support ship and started working on the subspace field with his research team. The support ship had a crew of tech and military personnel onboard with a pair of heavy fighters as support. Captain Mitchell and his crew had returned to the planet to help with the evacuation while the TL was being refitted. Time was the issue now and everone knew it.

After 28 hours of hard work and testing they were ready to test the unit out on the Capitol ship under construction.
[Sarah] “The unit is in place and connected do you want to activate it?”
[Josh] “Everyone is in place and the recorders and scanners are running start it.”
The team watched as the time moved to 2X and the alrigh was given. They watched on as the speed was moved up to what they felt was a safe speed of 7X. The team watched on as the ship was being built before their eyes.
[Josh] “Sarah contact Mitchell and tell him we are moving on to his TL and he can dock with us to monitor the process. Send a ship back to the Venture with a model of the unit so they can speed up the construction time on the ships in that sector and then to the planet. How much time do we have left before the Gate is shut down in that sector. Sixty days are left and with the unit six more ships can be built before the cut off date.”
As the ship jumped back to the TL a ship jumped out of the sector to deliver a model of the unit to the other construction sights and the new time line for transferring the crews and passengers.

As Mitchell transported over Josh replied. “Welcome onboard Mitchell we’re ready to go it’s your ship so you give the order to start the unit up.”
Mitchell looked out at his TL as it sit in space as signs of the refit was going on and said. “Start the time unit.”
Everone looked on as the ship started taking a giant leap in speed while the ship started taking shape right before their eyes.
[Mitchell] “I knew it would speed things up but this is amazing to see it in operation. How many people and capitol ships will be in the Fleet when we head out for a new planet now?”
[Josh] “Over twenty capitol ships and over 300,000 people. I‘m hoping to increase the number to over 500,000 by squeezing them in and building extra ships later. When the Gate closes we can’t go back to their home world and get a few more so before the cut off date we’ll start a mass evacuation. The Ships can handle the people it’s the people I worry about in such congested environment.”
[Mitchell] “I know what you meen but don’t sell them short if it means saving lives people will tolerate about anything to save lives and besides it’s just for a short time.”
[Kate] “If I can speek Sir. He’s right. I would be glade to share a room with as many as we could fit in there if it meant saving their lives and like he said it would just be for a short time.”
[Josh] “And the rest of you would you be willing to make the sacrifice.”
As each looked at the other as a unanimous “Yes!” was the reply.

Josh smiled and relied. “Good I hope the rest of the fleet is as willing. The Ships Captains and fleet Advisers had approved the request but the final decision was up to me and we’re going to do it. Sarah send the message.”
The crew started clapping their hands and cheering at the decision. As the crew and Mitchell talked and watched the progress on the TL. Josh slipped off to bed to get some much needed rest the first chance he got the last two days had been very stressful and busy and he was exhausted as he fell into the bed. The rest of the crew quickly followed and turned in leaving Mitchell to watch progress of the TL with the soldier on duty.


Off in a quite part of the universe a group of Ancients are discussing Josh.
A man states. “I like him he took care of that problem for us.”
While another replies. “I thank we should kill him now before it’s to late he’s to dangerous! He’s a threat to us all! Besides you didn‘t give him a choice.”
A woman stands up in defense of Josh. “Everyone is threat to hear you tell it. He is powerfull but he’s no threat to us. Let me make a proposition to help us with the other problem in that area and see how he reacts to his ruthless deeds. I say we watch him for a while longer then decide to either offer him a place with us or he and his fleet has to return to his own time in the future where he won’t be a problem to anyone here. Remember we are already devided or have you all forgot the ones we already removed from our society? I say we wait until the next meeting to decide can we agree on that? What do you say Lady Chairman?”

The Chairwoman stands up. “And when do you plan on involving him in the next objective in that area?”
“The next time he does something I’ll request help from Mr. Galen and our problem is long over due for an outburst.”
The Chairwoman looks at a screen on her chair. “The vote is in we wait till the next meeting to decide on the subject matter of Josh Galen. Let’s move on to the next issue.”

A man ask the woman that defended Josh. “When do you thank he’ll act up again?”
She looked at the man with a smile. “Not long the election he wanted to show himself fair and how much he was loved by the people he lost it so any time now.”
The man looked at the woman with a puzzled look. “Did the Counsel find out who his cohorts were?”
She looked and smiled. “You know I’m on the Counsel and can’t talk about a ongoing case. But I will say who ever it was helping him has stopped he’s all alone. He’s still very dangerous but cut off from the Counscel and it’s protection he will die. At the hands of his people or of old age either way he’ll be dead and the sooner the better.”
[Man] “And what about the brain restructuring and relocation doesn’t that satisfy your need for justice.”
[Counsel Woman] “In away but I have a problem telling it to the friends I had he killed. It’s a just punishment for just people but he’s a monster! But I will take pleasure in seeing him striped of his title and memories then get sent away to live as a unknown.”
[Man] “Everyone you have done this to has always died somehow.”
[Counsel Woman] “We can take away their memories but we can’t take away who they are deep down. They always return to the wicked lifestyle that got them into trouble. We give them a new start and a new life they make of it what they want. Are we through here I have things to do?”
[Man] “Yes thank you for your time and openness I been cought up in my own problems and wanted your viewpoint on the issue thanks I’ll see you next meeting.”
Then the two turned and went their own ways each going back to their ships.

As the man entered his ship a woman’s voice asked? “How did it go do they know anything?”
“Not as far as I can tell nothing was in the report and they are still looking for their contacts.”
[Woman] “And they are?”
[Man] “Dead of course. Doen’t it scare you to be here knowing if you got cought they would erase your memories killing the person you are and ban you to a life of their choosing. And we know you been a bad girl so theirs no telling where that would be.”
“No it excites me and I am felling bad.” She replies as she bites the bottom of her lip and pulls the Man in kissing him. As he enters her room He closes the door behind him while the ship exits into space and jumps away.

So, Josh gets his hands on the technology for a 'localised, sub space, SETA effect construction device'! (I still think the 'shock' emoticon should be a 'grimace' or a 'shudder'!). Its a wonder the Ancients don't pop him as he is interfering in the timeline... BUT then we would lose the main character in your story. Stuffit, keep on writing. I am off to lunch in a few hours, might launch a missile or two at X3 Pirates in the meantime.
