one bad script file will cause any save game not to load.

It's very likely that your save games are fine, there's just a bad character in a text file some where that's causing X2 to crash every time it tries to read it. Trust me I do it to myself regularly.

Is there any way to find this iffy file or is that up to the author of the bph script. This script was supposed to be signed by egosoft.

Wooo, hang on, I removed all the script files and I still got the popups saying the saves where corrupt.

You have any other mods or custom scripts installed?

There's a bunch of folks on here using BPH. I've seen a variety of issues posted but nothing as catastrophic as what you just described.

Would probably be worth a clean install of game w/ copying your save games back in place. From what I've read on boards so far (as I recall) if the game can't locate referenced scripts (non-defaults) it will simply not use it. Assuming that is true, then the games should load up. If they don't then that would pretty much *have* to mean the BPH put-in or did-something to the environment (where env includes all-possible-script-actions) that the game is choking on when it tries to restore game state from the save file. That's my guess for whatever it's worth.

16 HOURS...... and selling up! You're sure your not in need of sleep :D
I have used the Bph script on and off for at least this time (not in one session) and have had no problems like this.

No, I had no other scripts running, I did have the bounty hunter script installed but fully removed it when I realised it was not signed.
The first time I played with the BPH script it was a short game where I saved the game 3 times, one of these saves was corrupt, I didn’t think anything of it and just put it down to the odd weird goings-on that happens with X2. But on my playing 16+ hour binge I accumulated around ten saves or more can’t really remember now. But when I found my last save to be corrupt I went though them all, luckily I still had a few games not overwritten from before script installation that still worked.
From your post it seems that it’s only me that is having this problem, I will take your advice and try a new install, keeping my new saves safe.
BTW, I think the bph script is brilliant, takes all the prating about out the game.

i have installed all of the signed scripts. no problems with my old pre1.4 savegames that went through all the patches (around 20 game days) and no problems since my new 1.4 restart (around 2 game days).
did you try a clean installation without any of the scripts and then adding the signed scripts one by one?

The game version (other than the fact that you need to be running 1.4) should make no difference to any script.
