Several decks below a repair droid lurched awkwardly into the air on anti-gravs that howled under the strain. Xela finished rerouting power through sub-systems not designed for such a load and diverted a trickle to the comm. unit. It hummed to life and she caught the jagged hiss of energy fire.

Hey, great to see you managed to finish the chapter.
Very sad to see Xela going down. At this time the question probably is: is her chip fried of just the droid destroyed. I would like to believe it is the second option. Cannot imagine her being out of contention when Max is kind of delivering himself to the butcher.
Bugger, sad end to that chapter.

I was fully expecting that Jackson was going to betray Xela, as he was the only one who knew that she was Force's "edge". Then she goes and gets shot down crossing an elevator shaft.
I like stories that are unpredictable.
You don't expect a major character to get tagged by a random shot; it's very like the player's typical death experience in a video game. One minute you're closing in on the boss' lair, the next some random grunt patrolling the hallway puts a bullet in you. "Hey, that wasn't supposed to happen ..."

Excellent read. And man, you have a sick sense for twists 
In a way I had that bad feeling that it may be Max to bite the bullet but would still not put money on either him or Xela. I can still see him get out of there alive with the three other ones being casualties.
Very intense part of the chapter, made me shiver.
