NEWS: Update 1.2 for owners of X3: Terran Conflict download versions

Post by BurnIt! »

We have posted an updated installer for customers who received their copy of X3: Terran Conflict via online distribution (e.g. gamesload) and do not have a DVD.
If you own such a version, please get the update from the download page.

This version is identical to the previously available update. There is no need to re-download if you already have updated your DVD version to 1.2.

Once again however this update is not meant for Steam users! The Steam client will automatically update your game with the correct files.

I bought X3:TC on Steam, yet the update hasn't happened yet. Any news from Steam as to when I can get the update? :?

The update's been on steam since before the weekend. Right click on the game in Steam, go to properties and select verify integrity of game cache in order to insure the game has patched.

What version came with the game in the DVD box?

If this is a newer version than that then what does this fix?

The DVD is 1.0.01. Please read carefully though. This post is about a version of the 1.2 patch for people with a non-Steam download version of the game.

The 1.2 patch for owners of the DVD version has been available for a few days already. The download description explains what it fixes and there is also a more detailed description in the change log file that comes as part of the download.

Steam auto-updated their version of the game to 1.2 before it was even activated!

sorry cbj, in my case that just isnt true. ive been playing 1.01 (as indicated on the opening menu) until i manually validated the files with stam today, now im playing 1.2 (as indicated on the opening menu).

every time i would press the "check for updates" button steam would reply that my game is the most recent version!!

At a guess you pre-loaded the game from Steam, like me. There was a glitch, present for all of about 2 hours after the game was activated, whereby it didn't fully patch to 1.2. During that time everything was patched apart from one file, which led to the initial options menu saying 1.0.01 but the main in-game menu saying 1.2. Steam corrected this as soon as we brought it to their attention but for some reason it didn't trigger an auto-update for some people.
