Pirate M6 Spawner script

Download here (Right click and click Save Target As...)

Description-
Every 8 hours, there will be a 25% chance that a pirate controlled corvette (can be a Centaur, Hydra, Nemesis or Dragon) will appear somewhere in the universe.

Please read the readme for important info. Suggestions/comments are welcome.

Coming soon-
-Checks to make sure player isn't in sector when an M6 appears.
-Add escort ships (Orinocos, Mandalays and Bayamons).
-Checks to make sure the M6 doesnt spawn inside a station or another ship.
-Maybe have a random chance of the M6 group deciding to attack player
owned factories.
-Maybe edit the ships somehow so they show up as Pirate Dragon, Hydra etc.

A few questions-
Should I increase/decrease the chance/time corvettes spawn?
Should I add the Osprey?
Should I have them spawn near Pirate bases and have them fly off from there? At the moment they can appear anywhere in the universe.

Without anything to limit the total numbers that are spawned, then the time would be quite right as it is. If something tracks how many there are currently flying and makes sure there aren't too many at once, then less time in between spawns would be neat.

Sure! A perfect ship for it since the Teladi traditionally supply ships to the Pirates. In fact, it would even make sense to have it be only Osprey's that are spawned.

I would say defintely. Spawn them by the base and then send them somewhere. Perhaps to another pirate base then back. If a custom script is written to do that, then you can have the script terminate the ship after some time - this way it would limit the numbers that are around.

All in all, a great idea.

or just set it too patrol and make the last sector xenon :)

lol - this would actually work, except the stock patrol script will cause any ship running it to automatically attack any pirates. This would be bad for a pirate.

I agree with Reven on the questions.
I think you should put a limit on how many are make if it reaches that limit it will not make anymore until one is distroyed, and if you could make them trade with the pirate bases with Teladi M5 that would be awesome.

Installed it, got my first Pirate Paranid Nemesis.

I got a warning of my Nav Sat under attack, didn't pay much attention at the time, I was very busy. Eventually I looked at my log and saw it was destroyed by a Paranid Nemesis. Great !!. I was far away, and "looked" at the surrounding sectors, but didn't see it, so I crossed my fingers and jumped at the sector were I lost the sat. There it was, battling a Hydra.

Sure it was fun to destroy ... and lasted a long time. I was more conservative, not wanting to risk a collision and watching my shields, eventually I positioned myself in the underbellyand blasted away in my Centaur.

This may actually be the very first script I will use. :D

As for your questions,

1. I say maybe decrease it by 2 hours or so. The universe is pretty big, and there's a good chance it may get destroyed before you see it. They should be rare, but not to rare.
2. I agree with Reven on this one 100%. Osprey in, or even better, only the osprey.
3. Yep, spawning at pirate bases would be much more realistic, and have them go from there.

Thanks for the feedback guys, I've just signed up with xai corp and it'll probably be a while before next version appears. Have to get myself organised over there and it won't be just me working on it now :)

I like all the suggestions so far and will try to get them into next version. Not sure about using only the Osprey though, maybe make it so most of the time it will be an Osprey with still a small chance of the other m6's showing up?

The script sounds promising.

I have a BIG question about using it though:

Ahem....If I killl of a Pirate M6 will my race ranking go down with the race it used to belong to?

I ask this because I notice in my currently unscripted game that if I take a bounty hunter mission and kill the evil doer my rankings with the race he belonged to goes down a fair bit.....have stopped taking bounty missions now for that reason.

I forgot i ran this and a few hours in an argon centaur turned up in profit share.

I was telardi comp trader 3% and when i killed it with my nova (too easy) it went to 4%

the rank will increase just like any other pirate ship :)

Did your Argon rank decrease since it was a Argon Centaur?

Have to say I agree that it should be mostly Ospreys - gives a good explanation as to why they aren't purchasable.

Just one question: are these m6s capturable?
