Yet another Money Making and Avarice Question
Hey guys. Yes its yet another slightly different spin on the two most repeated questions.
I have been playing as Khaak Invander, and after a slow start I now have excellent rank with the Argons, Good race rep With the Borings and I'm making inroads with the Paranids and Teladi.
As I have finally gotten comfortable and don't plan to restart again I wish to make the most of this game. As such I want to get Avarice, however I'm concerned I may run out of time before the funds required come my way.
Its currently in game: 5 days 12 hours and my assets are as follows:
Rimes complex in Agron Prime (rimes+wheat) - CAG bringing ecells
Wheat farm in Three Worlds
Whisky complex (wheat and distillerey) in elena's fortune - CAG bringing in ecells.
another again in Sacred relic (which is a hostile sector)
Ore mine in Interworlds suplying:
WASP forge in Scale Plate Green (again hostile) and
IRE fact in Nathans Voyage.
2x Sector Traders (training) Queens Space + Argon Prime
So whilst all these stations are making a nice profit and my fledgling empire is going well, I'm worried I will have no where near the 500M+ credits to get Avarice.
Few things to keep in mind:
Game is completely Vanilla (just latest patch and bonus pack)
I refuse to cheat.
Unknown Sector has just changed its name to Avarice and currently the station there is hostile.
What is my best option for ammassing what I need in the shortest space of time with what I have?
Thanks in advance.

I may be way off, but I think that without the Bala Gi mission and the M7 you will be struggling.
With the M7 you can farm the drops from the Xenon cap ships, without that option I for one would never be able to afford Avarice even in a normal start. I can't imagine you'll have the time to "earn" your cash.
It will be interesting to know whether people have managed to get enough cash with "normal techniques".

Just keep investing what money you earn into fabs and UT's. Also u might wanna consider a couple of remote miners selling silicon to the crystal fabs in Home of Light. i started on humble merchant but i had the 615 mil by day 12. Early on i sat in elenors fortune a lot commanding my empire and killing/capping using Mamba raider on any pirates that wandered through. Cant stress enough how important it is too keep investing your earnings Drone complexes 1mj shield complexes q-tube complexes and i found 25 UT's to be a happy number.
Personally i didnt bother with the headquarters untill after the auction.

Play every 8 Hours a Xenon Invasion and kill every Xenon M2/M1 in it. Increaser your UT Fleet up to 30 as fast as possible (in the good sectors they reach lvl 8-10 in about 8 Hours, so you can train 5, 6 sectortraders every 8 hours), more Spacefuel and Spaceweed. Farming Xenon-Sectors is a very fast way to get enough money to build self-sustaining complexes (which would be a waste of money without farming Xenon-Sectors) for drugs, 1mj + 5 mj Shields and microchips (these are selling without any need for a cag), armsfactories near the terracorp.
I also make good money with Foodfactories, only the Borons don't like my Bofu.

1. Shoot them with max firepower of a Split M2.Turricanion wrote:whats the most efficient way to kill j's and k's and get their weapons?
2. Get the Hyperion, get 4 Gamma-Shockwavegenerators and fly below the Xenon where he cant shoot you. Activate your turrets and enjoy the lightshow...
Turn off the turrets wenn the hull is down lower 50%, increase speed and fly straight through the Xenon K or J.
Ah...and save before you do 1 or 2, reload if nothing usefull drops.
I prefer Number 2, feels more personel (and it's cheaper to get the Hyperion than a Split M2)

Personally consider the rather limited cargo space on the Hyperion a bit of a problem for efficient Xenon sector farming - after it has been armed, shielded & loaded with reasonable supply of jumpdrive fuel, maximum cargo capacity is often only about 15-20 G-PPCs. Some K/Js can drop more than that in a single crate & every G-PPC which won't fit costs you about 1million in lost profits. Then there's having enough space left over for all the other weapons dropped to consider. For this role think a full sized capital ship is better for the task, either an M2 if you want the heaviest firepower, of an M1 if you want a convenient docking bay for captured ships.mufassa wrote:If you have the Hyperion that crazy overpowered ship will do it easily.

Assume you mean TS rather than TP (none of the TPs can carry XL cargo such as PPCs). Aside from that, I have tried the escorted TS collection strategy & main problem is flight time. TS engines are slow & I like to do my Xenon sector farming well away from the centre of the sector - I lure them out 1 capital ship (+ escorting fighters) at a time so I can kill/capture without interference from other Xenon ships. Often crate timers expire before a TS can fly all the way from the jumpgate & it still has somehow to make its way safely past any other Xenon ships still present in the sector. IMO it's simpler & more effective just to fly a ship with a big enough cargo hold to start with (my favourite is the Colossus).mufassa wrote:Just bring in a TP to pick up the goods then. There are commands for that.

Thats what a jumpdrive is for. Once I bought 10 falcon vanguards, and instead of risking them flying though pirate space, I simply took an orca, jumped to omicron, picked up the ships and jumped right back. Simple.

Well, that doesn't speed up your flight from the jumpgate to way off the sector centre, or to dodge the enemy ships that might be camping the gate.rpetiger wrote:Thats what a jumpdrive is for. Thanks guys. That gives me a bit to work with. I'll stop stalking Goner's in Pirate sectors in the hope of a Transforter device and look for some Argon/Boron XI missions.
Also I'll hopefully get the Paranid/Split rank to start Bala Gi sooner rather than later.
Another quick question if i may.
In vanilla X3 its supposedly impossible to raise Goner rank in the KI start.
However the following occurred to me:
If I were to stick a fuel factory (or weed) in Elysium, then scan the ships that dock there, could I not theoretically raise my rank with the Goners by creating a pirate presence in their sector, then cleaning it up?
