Chapter8

[Josh] “That’s a reasonable request. Sarah when will daylight be on the Goanna homeland?”
[Sarah] “Two hours till first daylight on the east coast.”
[Josh] “Jags I’ll be pack in three hours to take you and your team there myself.”

Three hours later they were over there homeland in a large fighter looking at the devastation. Josh could see the doubt as they looked at the monitors so Josh picked a secluded area and set the ship down.
[Josh] “I want you to take and get off the ship and see with your own eyes that what you’re looking at is the real thing. Stay close to the ship incase we need to leave quickly.”

The reality that Josh had been telling them the truth hit them when they seen the destruction done to their homeland first hand. All hope of it being a lie were crushed as the pieces of rubble popped and cracked underneath their feet. They walked around the streets shocked and dazed looking at the massive amount of devastation done to the town.
[Jags] “Commander are all the towns like this? And where are all the dead bodies.”
[Josh] “There are a lot buried in the rubble but over 50% of the population has vanished.”
[Jags] “How could they move so many people there are over a million people missing.”
[Josh] “I don’t know for sure but I would say for slave labor or an instant army. Slave traders would never take on so many to have to feed and keep up at one time. We need to find out all we can do you have any ideals?”
[Jags] “Why don’t you know?” Josh told Jags the story of how he ended up in there time and space. Then Jags told Josh everything he knew about the spaceships and attacks. And how their government had tried to stop them. After shooting down one of the ships they discovered how to copy the jamming device and us it on there fighters. But the device was way to late to make a difference in the war. Only a few ships had the device and his team was the first to get them. They received the upgrades in there last supply shipment and the attack on the freighter was the first time they used the jamming device.

Jags then told Josh about two hidden bases he knew of hidden high up in the mountains that had been watching the skies and gathering data that should be helpful to them and maybe some of the Goanna had survived inside the secluded outpost. Jags told where the main security computers and data were and how they made hard copies every 3 mounts and stored them at the two outpost.

Josh took the team to the location Jags said the main computes were. They looked at a large hole in the ground where the Goanna Security Agency had been as they hovered above sight. The sight was covered with Military seaching through the rubble.
[Jags] “They must have been overrun and were about to suffer defeat. The structure has a self-destruct bomb in the basement and it looks like they used it, we’ll get nothing here.” Jags held his head down as he moved away from the monitor and set down.
[Josh] “Sarah do a deep scan of the area for traces of alien blood.”
[Sarah] “I have two unknown races and Goanna DNA scattered everywhere.”
[Josh] “Gather as many scans of the alien blood as you need to piece together a description of the life forms. Then get us out of here and jump back to base when we’re clear.”

The ship eased into the dock back at the underground base.
[Josh] “Jags I know today has been upsetting for you and your team but I need you all to go with the Doctor and get you all started. He’ll give each of you a shot, uniforms, a ear-piece and a PDA then it will explain the rest to you. Jags I want you and one more from your team to go with me two days and check on the other bases. Try and get some rest I beleve tomorrow will be a better day the area you said the bases were in shows no signs of fighting.”
A small glimmer of hope helped the downhearted qroup as they followed the Doctor.
Josh went to the controld room to check on any new developments. Dan was looking over some of the long range pictures as Josh walked up. “Hi Dan see anything?”
[Dan] “Hi Josh did things go well with the Goanna?”
[Josh] “Yes and No. Good for us because we were telling the truth and the Goanna are joining up bad for them because we were telling the truth. We went to retrieve data from there main headquarters and when we got there it was just a big hole in the ground with everything around it blown to pieces. We did get some DNA scans of two unknown alien species, Sarah is working on an illustrated rendering of what they look like.”
[Dan] “A new alien species where were they at?”
[Josh] “Everywhere! Sarah scanned DNA markers from a large assault force attacking the Goanna headquarters. The headquarters blew up destroying the whole block and the intruders sending pieces of them all over the place.”
[Dan] “It sounds bad!”
[Josh] “You can see the explosion on the satellite video tapes it look like a giant ball off light and dust busting through the heavy clouds then darkness. The blast was so intense some of the pieces were blown into space. Small pieces from the blast sight will be spread all over the planet because of the explosions intensity.”
[Dan] “Now that sounds nasty! You meen small pieces of people and the building will be falling on us like dust?”
[Josh] “That pretty much sums it up.” [Dan] “I’ll be staying inside for a while!”

Josh laughed at the remark as he left to get a bite to eat and go to his room. As Josh sat in his room eating his snack looking at the data Sarah had on the alien races Josh asked. “Sarah is the DNA close to any of the known races?”
[Sarah] “No Commander they are unknown but human based. The known races have some human DNA markers that remain unsystematic between each other these are not random they are human hybrids.”
[Josh] “Show me what you have so far.”
Josh sat and looked at the pictures as he got ready for bed thinking of how wrong it was to be using people to breed hybrid races doomed for destruction.
[Josh] “Sarah I want a new section built to study the armband in. Build a lab and living quarters the size of the shelter under the house and attach a testing room all about the same depth as the base and place it out at 75% of the trainsporters range. Build it out of the living material add a power plant with its own transporter and constructor unit just to be on the safe side and add a standard docking bay.”
[Sarah] “I’ll start on it now. If the armband is damaged or destroyed you may lose the means of getting back to your time. We may discover the way to travel through time but without the markers in the armband the future may be altered.”
[Josh] “I know but we need to start doing something. Sarah start working on a timepeace that will survive and be found a few hundred feet below the structure I was in when I got sent back in time. The Sarah from that time needs to have a time frame to work for we do have more resources and friends in that time frame than here. We can try to return to the future and they can try to go into the past and get us.
Ounce we set a time and place the package in the ground if they master time travel they should show up instantly. If they don’t then we know we’re on our own and I’ll try more drastic experiments on the armband.”
Josh laid down in his bed to sleep but his thoughts keep returning to the people on the planet and their outcome but most of all about time travel itself. When he mastered time travel should he save his parents or just kill all the Ancients responsible for the horrifying things they were doing before they grow up or should he just hunt them down and kill them now or as many as he could before they killed him then they would be jumping back and forth trying to fix their time line and save their friends. Some one was using time travel to get their agenda accomplish and stop the evil activities of the Ancients and the armband was the link back to that person and a way back to his time and space.
[Josh] “Sarah search every piece of information and picture or description of the armband storys, movies chech them all out in both time periods starting with this time period first.”

Josh woke up the next morring ready to go.
[Josh] “Sarah I want to send a memo to everyone on base.” “We have recruited a group Goanna willing to join up with our defense force. I have welcomed them into our base and anyone that conducts them selfs in a unruly or unbecoming behavior in opposition to anyone belonging to or force will stand before me for discipline.” “I belief that ought to be clear enough make everyone initial that they received and read the message before it can be cleared of their PDA.”
[Sarah] “Message sent Comander, the Goanna have all finished with the Doctor, ate and are in their rooms.”
[Josh] “Monitor the areas Jags said the hidden bases are in I don’t want any surprises when we get there.”

Josh woke up the next morning and went to the Control Room and his office to look over the departments reports. Josh ate breakfast in his office so he could finish looking over the reports that were stacking up.
[Sarah] “Jags and one of his team members are in the waiting room outside your office.”
[Josh] “Send them in so we can get started planning our mission.”

Two days later after having worked out a basic plan Jags and his squadron leader went to get there old uniforms and meet Josh at the weapons locker to pick up there original sidearms. They could get into the bases as Goanna Armed Forces without any fighting or misunderstandings. Then tell about their new allies while Josh watched and listened ready to transport them out if they run into any trouble.

They loaded up in one of the heavy assault and support fighters for the mission. The new ship could transport four men at the same time from different locations or eight from the same location while maintaining a cloak. Its size made it a little less responsive than one of the smaller fighters but the added firepower, turrets and shielding more than made up for its somewhat sluggish handling.

As the ship jumped into the area near the first base Sarah announced. “The base has suffered an attack from ground forces searching the area.”
[Josh] “Are they any survivors?”
[Sarah] “Yes they’re two in the control room. The last guard at the door has just been killed and the self destruct has been activated by the two in the control room.”
[Josh] “Transport them and the data core out when we’re in range. Jags go to the holding room door to meet them the transporter will remove their weapons and the restraints will be on them till you turn the off.
Sarah as soon as you get them jump out to the next target.”

[Sarah] “They are in the holding sell and Jags is talking to them now and the data core is in the storage bay. Jumping to new target. [The ship jumped to the next target area.] Scanning no hostile action on short or long range scans the nearest opposing military forces are fifty miles away in a glider flying away from our position.”
[Josh] “Jags we are at the second base site it’s secure for now but we need to get you two down there the two Goanna in the holding sell will be safe and sound till you get back.”
[Jags] “We are on our way to the transporter now Sir.”

The two transported to a safe area and started making their way to the bases hidden door. Jags knew the codes and location of the door. Josh watched as the two worked their way through the thick ground cover and go inside the base.
Guards were waiting on the other side of the door for Jags and his assistant. After a quick inspection and explanation of who they were the Guards escorted them to the comanders office.
Josh could hear and see everything that was going on while Sarah keep a transporter lock on them ready to pull them out instantly.

Jags outranked the CO he was talking to but never once used his rank or authority but just talked to the man explaining how desperately they needed help for everyone at the base and their whole race.
The CO knew about the alien abduction of his people. They had video and pictures of the ships and aliens attacking their towns and citys and abducting the survivors.
Jags explained about the defense force he had joined up with and the advanced technology they had and how they could transport. The CO stopped Jags saying. “You had me going there I don’t belief anyone that advanced just showed up and wants to help our people!”
Josh hailed Jags in his earpiece. “I’ll transport the three of you into the ship if he wants me to explain how I got here to him personally.”
Jags made the offer and as the CO come back with a go ahead and show me Josh hit the transporter button transporting the three onboard.
As the CO stood in a daze over what had just happened Josh stated. “Jags was telling you the truth let me explain how and when I got here and our goals.”
Josh explained about the two Goanna in the holding sell and how they rescued them from the base. Josh wanted to explain to them at the same time. So they stood outside the cell as Josh told how he ended up in their time and explained the goals of there defense force and asked them to join up with them. Josh then released them and transported the the CO and the two from the holding cell back to the office with the CO with a hand radio.
[Josh] “We will stay here and wait on you to talk to your people and wait for yours, your squads and the other two Goanna answer about joining up with us.”
[Sarah] “Josh the data core is taking up a lot of room in the hole and I have transferred all the data can I destroy it?” [Josh] “Yes go ahead and destroy it. Start showing us any info on the aliens on the main monitor.”

They watched the monitor while Sarah started displaying the info until the CO called all the base personal in for a meeting. Then they started following the progress of the CO on another monitor watching and listening in on every word as the CO talked to his people about the offer to join up and do something to help their people or stay there and get captured or killed.
The two Goanna that were pulled from the other base were ready to join up. They explained to the group how they were over run and had set the self destruct and thought they were going to die in the blast. But survived only because they were pulled out just in time and didn’t want to go through that all over again.

The group were talking to each other about the other base and the disbelief of there being saved seconds before death and being pulled out of the base was to much for them to comprehend.
Jags volunteered to transport down and show them first hand what it was like and talk to them himself.
Josh asked the CO if Jags could transport down and talk to the group. The CO come back with a quick. “Yes please!”
Jags transported down looked at the group and replied. “Is this enough proof do you have any questions?”
The hands slowly went up as Jags started answering their questions. Untill they were all ready to join up and the final question. “What about the base do we just leave it?”
Sarah quickly gave Jags a rundown of options. “Leaving it is not a good ideal. You need to destroy it or close off all access ways and disable all the equipment.”
The Co and Jags went into the office to talk about the base. Jags was trying to convince the CO to blow up the base to keep his men from thinking they had a place to fall back into if things got bad. While the CO was setting trying to make his mind up about the base Sarah hailed Josh. “The timepiece is finished and ready to be placed.”
[Josh] “Take one of the fighters and put it in place we should know something within a few days if they discover how to time travel. At least they will know I’m alive and the time I’m in. Is the research base ready?”
[Sarah] “It will be finished in four more hours.”
Josh had went to the galley and was eating a snack when Jags called. “The CO has decided to demolish the equipment and close up the entrance ways.”
[Josh] “What about the self destruct?”
[Jags] “They are going to split the charge up from the self destruct and blow the entrance ways up with it.”

After downloading the data and transporting all the Goanna and there belongings onboard Josh moved the ship to a safe distance and told the CO to blow the base. Everyone was watching the base on the main monitor as the explosion flashed across the display. The blast was so strong it destroyed the entrance ways along with the base. The CO looked on in amazement as he asked? “Is there anything left?”
[Sarah] “Scans show the base is a total loss.”
Josh activated the jump drive to take the 14 new recruits back to the base and their new home and life.
