New Start 18, Day of Surprises

James awoke at 0500 to the alarm going off, and it stopped the sezura his feet hit the floor. He went in to the bath room, brushed his teeth shaved and took a shower, put on the clothes he had laid out, then went into the kitchen for his coffee, at 545 local his door buzzer went off, he went to open the door,

Jeff: good morning, you ready to go?

James: give me a sezura to grab my jacket and data pad,

Jeff stepped in to the apartment, closed the door,

James walked into the bed room grabbed his jacket and flight bag, then went back to the living room, ok I’m ready,

They left the apartment and Jeff swiped his card for the lift, they boarded Jeff said cafeteria , and the lift started its descent, and announced Cafeteria corroder 1 b and the doors opened,

Jeff led the way down the corroder to the cafeteria, the crew from the Phoenix was there along with the new pilots, some already had there breakfast others were drinking coffee James and Jeff joined Chris, Tracy, Mike, and Sam.

Donna and Jenny were busy taking orders so James grabbed two cups and pored coffee for Jeff and himself, and went back to the table and sat down.

Jenny stopped at the table long enough to take there orders and headed to the kitchen to place them.

Chris: the ship is ready and I’ve had Sparrow 5 moved to the HQ landing bay,

James: good, I want to make sure we have enough space to carry the ships back if we get the extra Sparrows well send an escort with them,

Jenny arrived with there breakfast and passed them out then she got a fresh carafe of coffee and refilled their cups, and left.

They finished there breakfast and James went around greeting the new pilots, then told them to board the Phoenix,

James walked with Chris and Tracy, Jeff Mike, and Sam followed them to the ship,
Jeff, Mike and Sam went to there ships and prepped to undock,

James followed Chris and Tracy to the bridge, and took a seat near Chris, as Chris gave the orders to undock and head to the jump point, The crew were responding like a well trained staff, and the orders and responses were concise and clear, James was impressed with the way the crew responded,

When Chris gave the order to jump, the ship slipped from normal space to hyper space as if it had anticipated the movement then the computer responded entering sector Kingdoms End, James saw the Security chief press the ready cap button and watched 4 Hawks depart the ship as the Security officer reported that the sector was clear.

James watched as the Phoenix approached the ship yard and heard the navigator report that docking had been granted. James watched as the ship entered the landing path that was lit and glide toward the docking arm. The ship slowed and stopped when the signal from the docking arm was in the position to attach itself to the ship,

James left the bridge and headed to the departure area, were he left the ship with the pilots right behind him, as he left the ship he spotted Salas heading toward him,

Salas: James I have a surprise for you,

James: and it is wonderful to meet you to, you always surprise me.

Salas: laughs, well this time maybe I can surprise you more?

James: maybe,

Salas: how about 6 super freighters and 15 Hawks,

James: was surprised he was speechless and just looked at Salas,

Salas: I told you that I had a surprise, yes.

James: found his voice you kidding me yes.

Salas: no we have been able to open 6 manufacturing lines in stead of 4 for the hawk and 4 lines for the super freighter,

James: Salas you truly amaze me,

Salas: and I want to show you a super TL that we have been working on for 2 Jazura it has a storage capacity of 90,000 and can hold up to 60 Ships M3,4,or 5 and has 4 external ducks for an M3 or M-7 type ships, it has 6 internal docks for TS and TL type ships,

James, do you have one that is completed?

Salas: yes 1 completed and two being built, But they are very expensive, 1,305,223,489 cr

James: wow your not kidding expensive,

James: I like to see it,

Salas: I will Show it to you after we have transferred your ships,

James: can I bring some of my staff with us so they can tell me what I am looking at?

Salas: that will be ok but we will have to go together the ship is under tight security,

James: ok, here is my data pad, then he calls Jeff, I want you to meet me on the docking bay bring Mike Chris and Tracy and an engineer with you.

Jeff: wats up,

James: cant say over this line.

Jeff: we will be there in 10 Mizuras.

James was waiting when Jeff, Mike, Chris, Tracy and Louis the Phoenix engineer, showed up

James: Salas has a new ship that he has agreed to show us, he is transferring the ships registrations now, Mike I will need you Jeff and Berry along with me to fly the Sparrows back to PC, and we will load the other two on the Phoenix, along with 15 Hawks, Jeff How did they complete them so fast,

James: Salas said they opened more manufacturing lines, Here he comes now gather the pilots and lets get them started loading the ships,

Mike : ok

Salas: all is ok, we now go to see the Ship, well stop on landing bay 2F 4H for the new ships then to K1 to look at the new TL,

James: fine, as he and the others boarded the transport, the remainder of the pilots loaded on the 2nd transport and Salas drove off wit the other transport behind us, stopped at the guard post and showed the clearances, then on to the bay where the new 15 Hawks were sitting, Mike had the pilots move to the ships, he told Chuck & Oscar to down load the AI to the fighters then have the pilots prep them and load them on to the Pheonix,

When Mike climbed back onto the transport Salas rove to the bay were the Sparrows were parked

Mike: Berry to down load the AI to the ships, and wait for us to return,

Salas headed to the next area were he had to show security more access permits, then we entered the bay there was one huge ship docked there, it didn’t look like the typical Boron ship but it was sleek and was painted Black as space,

Jeff: very nice

Salas drove up the access ramp in to the ship, the bay was so long that I couldn’t see the end and it looked wide enough to park ten Hawks abreast with still room between them, Salas drive deep within the bay and stopped by a lift entrance, we followed Salas into the lift he took us to the bridge first and we looked around as Salas explained the consoles and there functions, then we went to the engine room, then the looked at some of the crew quarters then the storage areas Salas answered questions about the defense and weapon systems, Louis asked about ship specs and engine performance,

Then they headed back to link up with Berry , while Salas took Chris ,Tracy and Louis back to the Phoenix.

After the ships were loaded and the 2 Sparrows docked with the Phoenix James, Mike, Jeff and Chris talked about the TL. They decided to purchase it and order 20 more Hawks and 4 more Sparrows to be loaded in the New Phoenix 2,

James went to talk with Salas while Mike and the others went to get the other Sparrows

James: Salas I would like to purchase the TL and 20 Hawks and 4 Sparrows, deduct the cost and give me some time to get a crew together for the TL, as he hands over his data pad for Salas to transfer owner ship and deduct the credits.

Salas: It will be my pleasure, It will take 2 Tazuras to get the TL ready for departure, and at least 7 Tazuras for the other Ships,

James that’s fine, I don’t know how long it will be before I can get a crew,

James got his data pad back and went back into the Phoenix. When he entered the bridge he saw the 4 Sparrows drifting near the jump position, and waiting for the Phoenix to undock,

James: ok Chris you can jump when ready,

Chris: roger, Undock,

Navigator: announced undocking, departing station, exiting docking path, moving to jump position, arrival in 4 Mizuras,

Chris: prepare to jump,

The crew maid the ship wide announcements and proceeded to insure the ship was ready to jump,

Navigator: jump position obtained, gates notified, all green,

Chris: jump

Navigator: jumping, entering sector Power Circle,

James watched the screen as the 4 Sparrows appeared, and headed to the HQ, station.

James: Ill be on the docking bay with the new pilots. Then left the bridge and headed to the landing bay,

Upon entering the bay James found a flurry of activity, the new ships and been docked near the bay exit, and the new pilots were checking out thee craft as you would a new car, looking for scratches or imperfections in the paint, while the Maintenance personnel were painting the Hawk logo on the craft and the registration identification

James turned and went to his ship, upon entering he turned and entered the cabin set down at his desk, Jake what progress have you made on selling the goods,

Jake: no further sales made, how ever Jeannie Boswell, and Harry Perkins have managed to capture 2 falcons and harrier hauler in ore belt wile escorting Sparrow 3 the Pirates were secured and turned over to sector police along with an engagement report.

James: keep me advised on that, James left the ship and went looking for Chris, found him in the mess hall having lunch, James took a seat across from him, Chris I need your help in finding a crew for Phoenix 2,

Chris: I have been throwing that around a bit my self, I want that ship but that will still leave us needing a crew for this one and Tracy wants her own command, let me toil over it for a day or two and I get back with you.

James: ok

Henry: what would you like for lunch Mr. Hawk,

James: argnu burger and fries and coffee.

James: Chris what are your thought about deployment of our small fleet and what would we need to compliment it?

Chris: I guess Id keep it dispersed so as not to be a single target, Maybe
Get some M7 for close in support for each group, and insure that they can jump to assist the others if the need arises, were talking about the two Phoenix’s and the Eagle right.

James: yes, and I see your point about close in support, what about a couple of destroyers?

Chris: the destroyers are heavy hitters but they slow the group down, with the speed of the Phoenix I think something with the speed of an M-6 or 7 would be more suited to help the group,

Henry returned with James lunch placed in front of him and asked if he needed anything else,

James: no thank you Henry turned and left

James: an M7 would cut the personnel requirements considerably,

James: have you been to Marissa Sama’s shop yet?

Chris: no but I plan on visiting it soon,

James: how about after lunch?

Chris: ok I can handle that,

James: finished his lunch and they left the mess hall and boarded James ship and flew to the HQ, and docked,

James and Chris entered Marissa’s shop James spotted Marissa hanging some new wares out and went over to her,

Upon seeing James approaching her Marissa: Hi Mr. Hawk how can I help you?

James: just stopped by to see your new shop and to see if you are getting every thing you need?

Marissa: yes everything is going fine, as you can see I have a larger shop then my mother and I have two tailors working hard to keep up with the orders we have.

James That’s good I suppose. I wanted to ask if I could get you to design some flight suits for my people,

Marissa: I be glad to, do you have any ideal of what you would like?

James: let me see what you have on the racks and well see if we can modify them to suit our needs.

Marissa: follow me. And she led them to racks of different colored flight suits

James: Looked at the one piece and the two piece suits they came in multitudes of colors James selected the Black, Navy Blue, Khaki and the dark brown suits, he then looked at the braded trim that Marissa had Selected Red for security, Copper for ship and Station Support Silver for Pilots Gold for Leader Ship personnel, Black for security and pilots, Blue for Ship personnel Brown For support Khaki for general and administration personnel, James then relayed his thoughts to Marissa, who took notes and asked questions as she tried to visualize the outfits ,

Marissa: Ill put together some samples and present them to in 4 Tazuras, ok

James That will be fine, thank you,

Chris: I have some things that I need to purchase, as he laid the clothes and other things he had in his cart on the counter.

Marissa quickly scanned the items and took Chris’s debit card and swiped it then handed the thumb reader to Chris who pressed his thumb to the scanner.

His purchase was excepted and a receipt was printed for him, Marissa handed the receipt and his debit card back to Chris who gathered up his packages and followed James out into the crowded Corridor James led Chris to the Nearest Lift and swiped his card within Sezuras the lift opened and they entered and James announced Suite and the lift started moving Then James turned to Chris you did want to go to your suite didn’t you?

Chris: Laughs, and said that’s fine, Ill drop this off then head to my ship,

James: ok

The lift arrives in their floor and the door opens James exits the lift and heads to his suite Chris heads toward his.

Upon entering his suite James headed to his comms room and sat down log in to the bank statements, View the Income and expenditures,
Then he went into the vault and verified the inventory checked the security drones access logs and closed the vault. James checked the time and noticed that he had spent nearly 4 ½ Stazuras working and inventorying the vault, decided that he would take a shower and change before dinner. After he was done dressing James called Thresica,

James: Hi when are you going to dinner?

Thresica: I was gong to change then go to the lounge,

James: ok, stop by on your way and Ill go with you,

Thresica: ok

James closed his communicator and the door bell rang, “she cant be ready yet “ and opens the door, standing there is Mike and Jeff, come in,

Mike and Jeff enter and sat down,

Mike: were going to have problems if one of our transport get hit by a large force!

James: explain please,

Mike: if one of our transports and escorts get hit by a large force we are currently unable to send help immediately, It would take 10 Mizuras or longer to get help to them, unless they were in a sector with our TL or M1s, we need a ready reaction group of 4 to 6 fighters.

James: we don’t have a group of that size to send. Do we?

Mike: if we use one of the Phoenix 1, flight groups or we could send the HQ ready group and have the other take over as CAP, we would only need a group on ready stand by while we have ships out on runs.

James: lets talk to Chris this evening and get his thoughts, but notify HQ security to be ready to assist any of our escort groups that are out on runs.

Mike: wilco he and mike leave, as Thresica arrived at the door,

Thresica: are you ready James,

James: yes, lets go they walk to the lift. James swiped his card and the doors opened, he let Thresica enter then followed her in, announced Lounge and the lift descended, when the doors opened the computer announced Corridor 2 lounge area, they exited the lift,
Walked to the private dinning room entrance and was greeted by Amy

Amy: what can I get you to drink?

James: coffee for now,

Amy: ok and went to get a carafe of coffee,

James look around for Chris, spotted him in the back with Tracy, Jeff and Mike. And headed that way, and sat down with them.

Amy arrived with the coffee and cups pored coffee for Thresica and James asked what they would like for dinner, Thresica ordered a Chief Salad with Ranch dressing, James asked for the same. Amy: thank you Ill be right back with there order.

Mike: I talked to Chris about the ready support group, and he agrees with me that we need one, Chris will talk to the group leaders and come up with a plan to implement it.

James: good I will call Harold and explain it to him so he can have his cap ready to support also. and as soon as we get two more fighters I want us to train with them as a ready support group also, to ease the strain on the Pilots.

Amy returned with the orders , ask if they needed any thing else, then left.

Thresica: I got 3 pilots for the Sparrows and added them to roster, I’ve already got some runs for them and assigned escorts, I will try to keep them local for awhile, but we got a lot of out of sector requests, I’ll keep you advised if I have to send them out of sector,

James: ok, Is every thing ready for the party tomorrow?

Thresica: as far as I know, Dorothy nor Scott have told me differently.

James: good

Just as they were ready to leave James communicator buzzed, James look at the display it was Jake, James answered it,

Jake: we have a distress signal from Frank Simmons Wesley Brown Gary Manning S-1 in three worlds reports that they are under attack by 12 pirate ships HQ alert group has jumped to TW to assist,

James Tells Mike and Jeff to transport to their ships and jump to TW to assist Jake transport me to the ship and be ready to depart to TW,

Jake: transporting,

James materialized in the cabin transporter and headed to the Pilot seat as Jake left the station toward the jump point, James saw Hawk 2 & 3 depart the station and formed up on him,

Jake: jumping, entering sector TW, 6 contacts tgt 1 Falcon on intercept course, in range in 60 Sezuras, 40, 20, tgt entering firing range engaging missile launched at tgts 1, 3 ,5 tgt 1 disabled vectoring on tgt 3 engaging shields at 60% engaging with turrets shields at 40% 20% 10 % 5% pilot ejected ship captured contraband ejected tgt 1 Captured Hawk 2 captured tgt 5 sector clear,

James: requested status reports, Hawk 25 shields at 70% rising Hawk 26 shields at 40% upper turret damaged engine at 50% holding position with S1 at 100%, over Hawk 6 Group at 100% 6 falcons Captured 9 Pilots secured 3 to pick up 2 KIA, engagement report sent to sector police. Who has not dispatched cruiser to get detainees, over, Hawk 2 100% Hawk 3 100% , James: Hawk 6 take the captives to PC turn over to sector police along with engagement report, report back to HQ, Hawk 3 gather up captured ships Phoenix 1 Jump to my location ASAP, Phoenix 1 wilco. Hawk 2 Assist 3 hawk 26 link up with hawk 2, hawk 25 and S1 continue your mission, how long before your ready to jump back to PC, over

Gary: in about a Stazura

James: let me know when your done, out

Mike: we gathered up the ships there were 8 Falcons and 4 busters 2 busters were destroyed,

James: roger Phoenix what is your ETA,

Chris: 5 Mizuras,

James: roger the sector is clear for now,

Chris: roger

4 Mizuras pass James watches the Phoenix appear 10 KM off his port side, ok lets get the ships aboard including hawk 26,

Mike: executing

James watches as a stream of ships head to and enter the Phoenix, once the last ship boards Mike take up position on the port side of the phoenix Jeff to the rear I’ll hold here.

Mike: roger

Jeff: roger

40 Mizuras have passed since the Phoenix had arrived, when Gary reported that he was departing the station,

James: Gary dock with the Phoenix, then hawk 25, then Hawk 3,4, and I’ll land last, Chris be ready to jump when I land,

Chris: wilco

James watch the Sparrow dock Hawk 25 was entering the ship with Mike and jeff right behind him Jake land on the Phoenix,

Jake roger, entering ship docking clamps secured,

Chris: jumping, entering sector PC,

James: Jake dock on the HQ,

Jake: roger departing ship, entering station, hatch opening,

James exited his ship as Jeff was landing,

James waited for Jeff to join him, then asked where is Mike?

Jeff: he’s checking out the capped ships said he had some unusual scans on 3 of them.

James: ok I’ll check with him shortly what’s the status on Hawk 26?

Jeff: the engine has to be replaced and some damage to the rear Fins and the upper turret will have to be replaced it’ll be down for a Tazura at least,

James: ok have Sam fill in for it.

Mike: roger

James: turned and started toward the lift when Derrick called him,

Derrick: the captives were turned over to sector police, Captain Desmond said he would contact Thresica with the report tomorrow.

James: thank you and that was an excellent job,

Derrick: thank you.

James and Jeff headed toward the lift and Jeff swiped his card, the doors opened and they entered Jeff announced Suite, and the lift started,

Jeff: that was indeed an excellent response time any longer and we would have lost 26,

James: I know, we’ll have to work on it, I’m going to my suite see you at breakfast, James walked to the lift and swiped his card, the lift opened and he announced suite,

Upon arriving he laid out his clothes took a shower and went to bed.
