I have never seen a crate with beta kyons in 16 games, two of which
are at X-Treme combat rank.

Apparently Kha'ak in the normal universe do bail, but incredibly rarely.

If you want guaranteed bails, you need to take an Oddy or Zeus (other ships may work too) to their
home sectors. The KM3 escorting the capital ships will regularly bail
with either 0 or 2 BKE on board.

Collecting them requires a bit of thought, but can be done with a minimum
of hassle.

I have gotten khaak to bail up to the Fighter as well as having drops of alpha, beta, and gamma kyon emiters.

I warn you it takes a long time and countless ships to even put a dent into a khaak sector. I have since then restarted but you will need 30+ cap ships and loads of fighters.

I've heard their morale setting is lower in the Khaak sectors, which'd make sense, as they'd send out their braver warriors to battle the hethen scum of the X-verse (meaning, you).

Morale is a function of the capturing code. It's one of many functions and a hefty random factor, but it's a factor none-the-less.

Really depends what type you're after.

Gamma version drops exclusively in one of their home sectors unless you are lucky to have a Kha'ak invasion going.

Alpha/Beta version is very hard to come by. I've grinded all Kha'ak sectors endless times (mainly during nividium mining operations) and never ever had alpha or beta dropped there. Your best chance is to search the non-kha'ak sectors for fighters, interceptors or scouts and hope they got some weapons left when they bail out (slim chance even at X-Treme combat rank).

This is not correct. You need only one ship. A Zeus will do it all, including
picking up the captures.

You can't 'dent' the sector anyway. The capitals re-spawn as soon as they are destroyed.

You may randomly get Betas from Kha'ak invasion carriers/destroyers when you kill them.

Late in the game I'll infiltrate Kha'ak space in an Oddy with GPPC left/right and 7 GPSG/1 CIG in the rear set to Missile Defence. the unrelenting blast wave coming out the rear end of the Oddy produces a modest amount of caps. I'll scoop them up later on in a Zeus with SOS (tip: xfer your docking computer, then yourself, into the capped Kha'ak ship, then auto-dock back into the carrier - ensuring that the coast is clear first!).

I don't believe I've ever capped a KM3 in non-Kha'ak space - the occasional interceptor or scout, yes.

Yes you are right although the oddy strategy is for the player who does not have the skills required for a major offensive, I was assuming mark a was a veteren due to the fact that he was trying to get kyon's.
