Space suit repair laser issues

So, long story short, I did something stupid in my game and wound up with a flaming hunk of slag barely recognizable as a discoverer, a buster with 30% hull, and the derelict toucan I had running various things in the background while I made terrible decisions. The repair bill would have cost me everything I owned and even more, and I wouldn't even have been able to get the buster I started with back to 100%. I was literally staring down a situation where I could either throw away everything and go back to ferrying E-cells, or restart the game and actually wind up with more than I would have wound up with by picking the other option. I picked the fourth option, and decided to add a repair laser to the space suit by teaching myself how to mod this game because I may or may not be insane (Third option was cheat, but meh).

Fast forward a handful of days of work later (and a couple months of ignoring the project tbh...) and I now have a brand new miniaturized repair laser I can tweak without changing the vanilla one, a space suit that can equip it, and a script ingame to shove one into the suit.

But the space suit, for whatever reason, seems completely incapable of actually firing... Well, anything, really. I've tweaked all I can think to tweak, but nothing I've done will actually make any weapon I stick on the suit actually fire. If anyone has any experience adding weapons to the space suit and knows what's going on here, I'd love to have a nudge or two in the right direction. If necessary, I can also post the (incredibly and obviously unfinished) mod in here so you guys can take a look at it.

For the record, I am using X3 Editor 2, but am willing to grab other things if they're necessary to make this work.
