X3 with an XBox 360 Controller, second joystick unavailable?
I've been playing X3 lately and started trying to play it with my XBox 360 Controller. For the most part, this works fine. The buttons, the d-pad, the shoulder triggers, and the left joystick all work fine. However, the second joystick doesn't appear to do anything, regardless of in game configuration.
Has anyone else tried this, or found a way to get it working?

Try having a look at this guide.

Thanks for the tip. Sadly the XBCD drivers won't work for my controller since I have the wireless version. However the ControlMK software should allow me to use the right joystick.
Is there some reason X3 doesn't support the second analog stick natively? It seems to have the options available for it.

Found something that works, and preserves the analog function of the joystick.
The drivers here: http://x360wc.tripod.com/index.html replace the driver for the wireless receiver, and allow you to configure the controller in a much more granular way.
Setting the second joystick to "Slider 1/Z Rotation" exposes it to X3 in a way that makes it appear as Rudder and Z-Axis in the game, which is fine.
The driver also turns the triggers into independent buttons (numbers 11 & 12), which also works out great.
The downside to the driver is that once installed, the wireless receiver will only support one 360 controller. The upside to this is that the otherwise useless XBox button in the center of the controller becomes button number 13.
Anyway, I'm satisfied. Safe to say I wouldn't have bothered to do any of this if the game wasn't worth the attention.

Well, that's Vista for you.
You might also try the newer untranslated versions here: http://www.katch.ne.jp/~morii/x360wc/index.html
Also make sure you're manually replacing the driver for the wireless receiver, not the controller.

I did, for a while using the after market drivers above.
Lately I use Xpadder to bind the unavailable/broken controls (right stick, and shoulder triggers) to keyboard shortcuts.
Even more recently, I gave up and went to the mouse controls and a keyboard in X3:TC. But I can confirm that using an Xbox controller with Xpadder for either X3 is very workable.
