Chapter 10

Ann, Elk and Josh were eating lunch and talking about the type of wedding ceremony Ann wanted when Josh said. “Ann I want to buy you a station of your choice for your half of the wheat farm.”

Ann asked. “Woe hold on are you mad or upset at us?”

[Josh] “No way! I’m sorry let me explain. I’m about to do something with Alpha Security that is very risky and may cost me the business and I’m not willing to risk your interests in the company at my expense.
When I ordered the Station adding a separate department seemed to be a good ideal but now I don’t know.”

[Ann] “Josh I don’t want to move or sell my half or stop being your partner in the wheat farm. Why don’t you just buy a new station or something for Alpha Security and keep the HQ as they are for Galaxy Venture Enterprises.”

[Josh] “That sounds good to me! I wanted to offer you a clean break and a new start if you wanted. I going to start a new business venture it may fall but I’m going to try. I did a job I can’t give any details but it showed me there was a need for background checks and race approved jobs for freelancers. My only obstacle is the governments and their lack of participation. I’ll want to help with the wedding any way I can, what do you need?”

[Ann] “I’ll take care of my wedding! I just want you to be their that’s all.”

[Josh] “I’ll provide security then you need that. And what about a bachelor party for Elk?”

[Elk] “Rob Lank has all ready asked to give me a party. But I want you to be there if you can. And the offer of providing security sounds fine to me if it’s ok with Ann?”
[Ann] “I want you to be with us at the wedding as our friend Josh not a guard. But you can place some of your men as security if you want.”

The three friends sat and talked for a while enjoying each other’s stories with dessert and coffee.

Josh returned to his office and started looking for station for Alpha Security to relocate too with room to expand. After searching a while Josh spotted a mine for sell in Montalaar. He remembered the mine from the news years ago. It started as an ore mine till they hit a rich deposit of marble within the large asteroid after that it was marble first then ore.
The mine had played out and been setting costing their company upkeep and safeguarding. It was too big to destroy and the Argon Government required the owners to keep the station secure so the price was negotiable.
[Josh] “Sarah contact the owners and ask if I can inspect the station and when?”
With in an hour Josh received a reply. “Please inspect the station at your convenience. Your name has been added to a list of potential buyers. Just hail the station and dock a guide will be waiting to escort you around the station. Please be advised some of the sections will be closed off for safety reasons.”

[Josh] “Sarah contact the Alpha Security Director and tell him to meet me at the dock for a short trip. I want him to go with me to inspect the station.”
[Sarah] “He’s on his way to the dock now Commander.”

Josh thought as he went to the dock the first time Sarah called him commander he refused the title and now he was a Commander.
They flew around the new station looking at the completed exterior sections and docks. The interior was almost finished and would be ready to start production within a week.
Some Argon Government bureaucrats would be at the grand opening to cut the ribbon opening the station.

After a few passes around the station Josh hit the jump drive and exited the gate at Montalaar.

The mine was hidden by gases and dust and out of scanner range of the sector traffic as Josh set course for the mine.
You could see the lights of the sector stations getting darker as the mine started coming into view.
The Mine was larger than most mines and had its own gravity. In its day the workers and families lived and worked within a company provided city within the mine.

“Requesting permission to dock.” Josh asked as they neared mine.
“Permission granted Mr. Galen your guide will meet you at the docking bays.” Was the reply.

As they cleared the blast doors and tunnel they entered a large cavern inside the mine with several docking bays leading to deferent sections of the mine.

As the ship eased into docking bay and connected a voice came across the COM. “Please put on your spacesuits for safety before exiting the ship. I’ll meet you as you exit your ship.”

As they exited the ship a man was waiting with a small shuttle for the tour. As they went from section to section Josh noticed that they used the marble from the asteroid in the various sections. But the most impressive of them all were the offices and a large assembly hall with tall pillars and arches of marble with gold colored fixtures and wood panels. The guide explained that the first owner of the station had intended on living on the station after it was mined out but was killed when his ship was attacked by Xenon.

Josh and the Director discussed the pros and cons of the mine as they returned to the ship. It was large with plenty of room to expand. And had a large section just right for a small weapons production department. The mine was run down and in need of repairs but the two agreed it would be a great place for Alpha Security if the price was right.

Josh called the Realtor. “What is the bottom price for the mine?”
[The Realtor.] “The owners want 50,000 for this fine work of art they call a mine.”
[Josh] “Tell the owners I’ll give 30,000 credits for the mine today.”

A few minutes later the Realtor responded. “Make it 37,500 and its yours!”
[Josh] “I’ll give 30,000 for the mine and that’s all take it or leave it.”
A silence fell for a moment then. [The Realtor replied] “It’s a deal dock at the Trading Station I’ll be waiting.”

Josh ordered a security team and fighters for the mine and a freighter full of repair drones and supplies.
After Josh transferred payment and got the title for the mine they returned to the mine. The freighter had docked and work was started on the new home of Alpha Security.

After a while Josh was called to return to the new station for the final walk through and check then the grand opening. The TL was at the mine now so the repair and remodeling would go quicker and the Mine would be finished and ready to move into in two more weeks. The Mine looked like a beehive in full production as the drones and workers went about their jobs.

They decided to call their new home Fortress Rock home of Alpha Security. The Director stayed to oversee the repairs and modifications on their new home as Josh returned to HQ.

As Josh docked Ann met him. “Someone is waiting for you in your office.” She said smiling.
[Josh] “Ok who is it?”
[Ann] “Batgirl! You remember batgirl don’t you?”
[Josh] “Batgirl? Do you mean Sherry? The woman the Dragon was selling?”
[Ann] “That’s the one she’s waiting in your office. And Josh try to be nice she’s been waiting several hours on you to return.”

Josh went directly to his office waiting room. “I’m sorry you been waiting so long. If I had known you were here I would have been here earlier. Can I offer you something to eat our chef is recognized as one of the best in the sector.”
[Sherry] “I am a little hungry that would be nice. I am here on official business for the President I‘ll tell you about it over dinner.”
As they sat at the table and had placed their order Josh looked over at Sherry. “I forgot how attractive you are Sherry.”
[Sherry] “Thanks.” As she smiled back at Josh.

After the waitress delivered their drinks and salads Sherry explained. “The President wants to give you an award for the great job you did in Ore Belt with the Argon Military. All the other missions you have done for the Argon Government have caught the attention of the head security adviser to the President. And they have decided to give you an award and a position as a consultant to the security adviser to the President.”

Josh sat a little overwhelmed about the position he was offered and the award as he asked. “Does Ban Danna know about this?”
[Sherry] “He was the first one they contacted and he’s 100% in agreement with the position and award.”

After dinner and Sherry had left the station Josh sent a message to Ban Danna asking about the position.

[Ban Danna] “I’m glad to see they went through with the offer Josh. You wanted to work with the Government now you got the chance don’t blow it. And good luck on your appointment to assist the Director of Security. It’s right where you need to be! Signed Ban Danna.”

Josh read the message and knew that Ban Danna had opened the door for him. He said he would do what he could and he did. Now Josh could check the status of jobs being offered to pilots through Argon Security. Now to get the other Races onboard would be the trick Josh thought as he went to his room to get some rest.

Sarah woke Josh up in time to get ready for the opening of the station. The day started for Josh in a rush. Rush to get ready, rush to the new station, and wait on the Government Officials that are never on time.

As Josh set in his office onboard the new station waiting on the Officials to arrive and the big hoopla to begin for the grand opening.
An hour later the Officials arrived. Argon Security was all ready in place and ready. Alpha Security was working as backup. If they had dirty underwear on they would know about it.

As the Officials arrived Josh was surprised as Sherry stepped of the transport and then the President.

[Josh] “Welcome Madam President.”
[President] “Well show us your station Mr. Galen I been looking forward to this. I am very impressed with the new design and wanted to see it first hand and to talk to you about the position. Ban Danna told me about what you wanted to do and explained about the men you gave jobs to. I can’t commit the Argon Government to your endeavor the weight of that is yours alone. But I can open the door for you. I will expect your input as an adviser to the security commission when needed and your help from time to time on missions. What do you think Mr. Galen have you any questions or suggestions?”

[Josh] “Yes Ma’am a few but they can wait. I hope you’re hungry because we have a banquet waiting on you and our guest after the tour and official opening. And I would consider it an honor if I can set with you two charming lady’s.”

[The President whispers to Sherry] “I like this one Sherry! And he’s good looking too.” As Sherry blushed a little at the remark.

Josh led the tour answering questions and explaining the different sections and departments and their functions. After the tour and ceremony Josh led his quest to the dining area and banquet.
They sat and talked over a lavish meal set before them as waiters rushed back and forth waiting on everyone.
[President] “I like the station Mr. Galen.” [Josh] “Please call me Josh my friends do.”
[President] “Well Josh I guess that make me your friend. I want to thank you for the tour and meal I enjoyed them both. Well maybe the meal a little too much I’m stuffed.”

[Josh] “Thank you Ma’am fill free to come back any time you want the door is all ways open for you. Please let me escort you to your ship.”

Josh walked them back to their ship as they were boarding Sherry slipped Josh a note. “Please call me later.”

Josh read the note and smiled as he returned to his office. The station was going into production the next work shift. The station heads were waiting in the boardroom for the final ok from Josh and their celebration party.
As the station was now open and running Josh slipped back to his office and called Sherry.

The next day was full of activities Josh had to take care including authorization and a license to produce firearms at the new home of Alpha Security.
