X3 plot: Yaki Crystals and disappeared Argon One

Post by Khintos »

Im doing the part of the storyline where you need to get 3 more crystals together with Miria Marani.

I have done the Disruptor Factory first: scanned the base, got back to Bala Gi and now im supposed to talk to Ben aboard the Argon One in Argon Prime.

Trouble is, Argon One is nowhere to be found... I have checked every Argon zone around that area and the ship is in none of them. Is this a known issue? Does anyone know how/where i can find Argon One?

I tried doing the Xenon part then, but when i want to enter the sector Miria asks me if i changed my mind. Do i lose my progress on the Disruptor part if i continue with another part of the mission?

What sometimes happend in X2 is that the ARgon ONe chased a stray xenon/pirate/khaak far of the Argon Prime map. He cant move to another sector (maybe with help of the plot, but probably not..)

It's X3, Merroc. :P

Khintos: No, you don't lose any progress. You can do the three parts in any order. As for Argon One, it should be somewhere in Argon Prime. However, it may be way off the map somewhere chasing Kha'ak/pirates. In that case, all you can really do is wait for it to come back to the central part of the sector, unless you want to go looking for the proverbial 'needle in a haystack'.
Have a great idea for the current or a future game? You can post it in the [L3+] Ideas forum.

X4 is a journey, not a destination. Have fun on your travels.

Humpty Bumpty...

Ive been playing along and did the other 2 parts of the crystal missions, and now im back to the Disruptor Fab part.
In all that time Argon One still hasnt come back to Argon Prime, and now my "journal" (message log) tells me i need to check out the Disruptor Fab in Olmankeslot's, which ive already done...

Is there any way (cheat) to respawn Argon One or locate it somehow? Id kind of like to trade in Paranid sectors again.

In what way have you 'checked out' the Disruptor Fab? Did it involve a very close scan and capturing some of the Yaki Rajin?

Please have a look at this thread. In it you can find a script called "Argon One Finder". You can use it to locate the Argon One.

If you can't locate the Argon One using the script - is it possible that you are using a non english version of X3 and "Rapid Response Force" by LV? RRF is not compatible with any other language version - it's for the english version only. That is because the Argon One is called different in other languages and so it will be hijacked by RRF. There is no way to convert it back. If this caused your problem then you will likely have to start the game again.
You will have to look for a localized version of RRF or modify the script yourself if you don't want to run into this problem again.

I did the mission with the hacker where you need to fly very close to the station while he scans the factory. He scanned it, i flew him back to his station in Bala Gi, got the dialogue with Mira and then Julian says "better take these plans to Ben" or something similar. I did not cap any Yaki ships though.

The xml file needs to be in the X3\scripts folder. You will have to run the script manually in game.

Go to the command console of your ship, press s for the script editor, locate the script in the script list and press "r" to run it. When prompted for input just press the "Return" key and when it shows some output press "Return" a second time.
When the script was successfully run, you should have a new message telling you where the Argon One is located. If it doesn't find the ship it will tell you.

You will get a *modified* in your savegame by running unsigned scripts, but I guess you already got that little mark for other scripts.

RRF shouldn't cause problems with english versions, at least not the current version 1.7.
I was just telling you about possible problems because I had to start over again. I have a german version of X3 and now I use a localized version of course...

Well, if there was a bug in an earlier version of RRF that you started with, it can't be fixed by just installing a newer version. The Argon One is simply gone.

If you really need to restart then look for something called "X3 Converter" here in the forums. The guy who made the german version of RRF told me about this tool. It is supposed to "copy" a lot of things from one savegame to another. Maybe you can get all your hard worked for complexes, money, ranks and so on to the fresh savegame.
I didn't try out this tool since I already restarted when I heard about it, so don't ask me how it works.

With RRF most military race ships will be converted to Rapid Response Ships after a while with the exceptance of the plot ships. It should be this way in 1.7 redux at least.
If you want to make sure that the Argon One is ok after restarting with the latest RRF, just explore sectors a little and then come back to Argon Prime to see if the Argon One is still there. If it is there then everything should stay fine.
