Greetings,
I was into X3 Reunion for aprox 6 months and really enjoyed the game. Ultimately though I lost interest after acquiring Capital ships and taking over a few Xeonon sectors. The game became a little too much to manage (huge complexes, scripts, mods, and on and on) not to mention I was spending WAY too much time in the game.
Anyway I am thinking about coming back but I'm also interested in Eve Online. Has anyone played both and what do you have to say about how they compare?
I'll appreciate anything anyone has to say on this subject.

Pro:
X3 is single player
X3 has no lag
X3 has great mods
Con:
Eve is multiplayer
Eve requires monthly fee
Eve is grindtastic!
Atleast that's what people say! But if you've got that much free time and money, give it a go! Me personally would rather wait for the next incarnation of not quite perfection but a little bit better than the last: X3TC...

Then check out the thread in the off-topic forum. It's long but there are various posts in there where people have asked pretty much the same question as you have.TWD 3 wrote:I am however looking for a comparison between the two games from the perspective of those who have played both.-good, bad and ugly.

Thanks I did, and I might be able to find a needle in a hay stack when I want to sew something
-or- I can go to market and buy a needle and thread. I am looking for pointed observations from experienced players of both Eve Online and X3 Reunion.
BTW-I am a HUGE X3 fan and look forward to buying the next game when it comes out. I just want an idea of how Eve stacks up and what the differences are from the perspectives of players who have logged time in both.

In other words, rather than being prepared to spend time finding and reading what people have already written, you want other people to spend time writing it all out again just for you.TWD 3 wrote:-or- I could go to market and buy a needle and thread. Sorry if that seems a rather harsh interpretation, but this is the forum for the X-Universe games. Discussion of (or comparisons with) other games really belong in the off-topic forum.
Posting your questions in the EVE thread is much more sensible anyway, since not everyone in this main forum plays EVE but you can be pretty sure that everyone in that thread plays both.

Are there any topics here that have not already been covered numerous times?CBJ wrote: In other words, rather than being prepared to spend time finding and reading what people have already written, you want other people to write it all out again just for you.

Good idea and distinction

That's a fair point, but in this case the answers are not one-liners and people have gone to quite some effort in the past to explain their views.TWD 3 wrote:Are there any topics here that have not already been covered numerous times?
Since you've now posted there, I hope you won't mind if I lock this thread.TWD 3 wrote:Good idea and distinction
