[SCRIPT] Magic Crystals v1.01 by Nividium 10/08/2007 UPDATED
Nividium Magic Crystals for X3 Reunion, Script Package.
Name of Script Package Magic Crystals
Version Number 1.00
Date Released 10/08/2007
Last Updated 10/09/2007 Updated Uninstall
Script Created For X3 Reunion v 2.0.02
File Package Available X3 Script Installer "SPK"
Download the "SPK" file format package here: Magic Crystals
Description:
Magic Crystals add new powers to your ships. Simply have one of your ships buy a crystal and keep it in it's cargo bay. After about 30 - 60 seconds, the power contained by a crystal will then begin to take effect. The value of these crystals are worth far more than the selling price of only 4 credits each. But, the X3 game sets the price and I cannot change that without turning the script package into a MOD and modifying the Twares file etc. I don't want to do that. So, each crystal only costs 4 credits but are worth 100,000 times that much. You can buy these crystals at any Tade Station. Trade Docks are restocked every 15 - 30 minutes with like 10,000 Crystals, so there are plenty everywhere. Note: Only Player owned ships can use these Crystals, the Playership cannot. This script pack is meant for non-plot games and only if you have played the game through at least once. Don't spoil your first game by using this Magic ok.
Black Crystal: (Healing)
This is a healing crystal. It will repair ship hull damage. Heals at a rate of about 1 percent hull repair every 5 - 10 seconds.
Blue Crystal: (Ware Mirror)
This crystal will duplicate wares in a ship's cargo hold. If more than one ware type is stored in a ship's cargo hold, it will pick one at random. It is limited to wares with an average per unit price of less than 500 credits. It will create numerous units of a ware, if the ware's average per unit price is low, up to a total value of 500 credits every cycle. ie Energy Cells with average per unit price of 16, you will get 31 Energy Cells every 30 - 60 seconds.
Glowing Crystal: (Pure Power)
This crystal will produce Energy Cells at a rate of 100 - 200 every 30 - 60 seconds. This makes alot of Energy Cells quickly.
Green Crystal: (Confuse)
This crystal is one of the most prized and valuable crystals second only to the Red Crystal in terms of value. This crystal will confuse NPC ships (if they carry wares that the crystal holder's Homebase needs) if they come within scanner range. Confused NPC's that carry wares of the type that are needed by the crystal bearers Homebase will be convinced that they need to dock at that Homebase and drop their load. Once they are confused, they stay confused until they drop their load. Then they undock and wonder off trying to figure out what happened. The crystal bearer can be in any Sector and the Victom will fly all the way to the bearers Homebase, no matter how far away it is. It is best to only put non competeting ships in the same Sector. They do have a limited anti-hog behaviour, but it is probably best to make sure that Green Crystal bearers with Homebases that require the same Resources are put into separate Sectors, just to be on the safe side.
Red Crystal: (Instill Fear)
The most prized crystal of all. This crystal will cause an attacking NPC pilot to run away from a ship that carries it. (if they first target the ship). The NPC will target the crystal bearer and try to attack, then they will be under the crystals spell and become extremely frightened of the ship. They turn tail and run. Great for scaring Xenons out of their Sectors into an ambush waiting for them on the other side of a Gate too. But, be careful. If the crystal bearer is overwhelmed with ships, the power will not be enough to handle them all so don't think the ship is invulnerable. But, you can easily have TS ships go through Pirate Alley and they will not be harmed. I also made a ship dash into Xenon Sectors for awhile and scare 20 - 30 of them out into adjacent Sectors, then made the ship follow them out into that Sector and proceeded to kill them all as they ran.
Required Equipment: none but the better a ship's Scanner the greater the range a crystal has in order to reach more NPC ships within a Sector. Use a Triplex for maximum range coverage.
Installation: Use the X3 Script Manager/Installer.
Uninstall: Use the X3 Script Manager/Installer. There is an "uninstall" script with this package. After you use the X3 Plugin Manager to uninstall the scripts, start X3, load your save game and then look at some Trade docks, they should not contain any Magic Crystals. Wait a least 1 - 2 minutes (this is important). Now save your game at this point. Uninstall is now complete. Start X3 Plugin Manager again, it will ask if you want to remove uninstall scripts, answer "yes" and exit. You are now finished.

Very interesting, about the TWare thing, couldn't you use custom wares on the script manager seeing as you are distributing in spk?
Also the generation rate may for Ecells looks a bit fast, other than that it seems a very interesting script.

Ooooooooh, these are magic crystals, eh? Lol.
Sounds pretty good.
Personally though, I would rather have seen this done as a weapon that the AI uses to lure YOUR ships into giving their stations your goods. Heh heh.
I guess the way to do that would be if your ship got its race temporarily altered to match that of the enemy ship that tricked it. Your ship changes to that race, is given an order, drops off its cargo, re-launches, then has its race returned to PLAYER.
It'd make the game more of a challenge, eh?

I'm starting to think that X3 randomly changes the code of it's own X3 game install based upon the serial number of your hard-drive. Only in X3 when served Vanilla Ice Cream: one player gets Strawberry, another gets Blueberry another gets Chocolate another gets Maple Walnut and usually the same guy always get an empty cup with nothing in it at all.

Yes this is ALL I changed. Well actually I put some extra code in there so if a username of Pogi is detected, it CTD immediately.Pogi wrote:Is this all you changed?Version 1.01 Fixed error in "uninstall". Also, made add crystal faster.
X3 is beginning to start to feel like the "Lands of Hyperborea"....![]()

Yes, I did not do anything to it other that fix a problem with the "uninstall" and I made the "add crystals to Trade Docks" faster, ie: it now adds them right away instead of waiting a minute.Pogi wrote:The reason I ask is because under the same Vanilla installation with the update applied ,it now works...Just a bit confusing.

Anyone explored what kind of effect this script would have on the main missions? You need to collect these crystals during the main missions. Will the story crystals have these effects when you collect them. Or weirder still, will a player be able to buy these crystals and bypass the whole crystal gathering part and finish the mission with their bought crystals. After all, how many people would skip a mission they didn't like for 4 credits.

!!! Caution!!!
