[SCRIPT] Auto Preacher v1.01 by Nividium 9/17/2007 UPDATED
Nividium Auto Preacher for X3 Reunion, Script Package.
Name of Script Package Auto Preacher
Version Number 1.01
Date Released 9/16/2007
Last Update 9/17/2007
Script Created For X3 Reunion v 2.0.02
File Package Available X3 Script Installer "SPK"
Download the "SPK" file format package here: Auto Preacher
Description:
Auto Preacher adds a custom ship command called [Preach]. This commands a Player owned Goner Ranger ship to begin preaching activities. This means the Ranger will jump into a sector and dock at every station within the sector. While docked your Preacher will spread the word and then ask for a donation. Statistics show that a Preacher has a 25% chance of collecting 1000 - 5000 credits at every station they dock at. If they do not recieve a substantial donation, then they will hang around the station's concord, "spread the word" and beg for credits until they recieve at least 100 credits. The first time you use this command on a Goner Ranger Ship, a Preacher will automatically be hired to pilot the ship. Then, off they go preaching and collecting credits (donations) for you. The command has superb AI, so you can forget about them once you command them to go preach. Also, rumor has it that, there are 25 - 30 abandoned Goner Ships scattered throughout the Universe. These need to be found and claimed before someone else finds them.
Features:
The [Preach] Command allows your Goner Ranger ships and Preacher pilots to automatically:
- monitor the level of, search for and buy fuel for their ship.
- monitor the condition of ship hull, search for and buy ship repairs, if needed.
- monitor for enemy attackers and Jumpdrive out, if under attack.
- dock at a station, if under attack and unable to Jump ie: lost Jumpdrive or low on fuel.
- buy Engine Tunings, Rudder optimization, Cargo Space and Triplex Scanner if not installed.
- jumpdrive to sectors and dock at stations in order to collect donations for you.
- open up (set as known) new sectors for you as a result of their preaching activities.
- You can buy Goner Ranger ships at any Argon Shipyard. Prices vary depending upon the region of space. Some shipyards sell for way less than others.
- Only Player owned Goner Ranger ships can use this command. The Playership cannot.
The Command ends if your Preacher is forced to dock at a station and enemies are still around. An email will be sent to you of this and you will need to restart the command if this happens.
Preachers are headstrong and will fly back to where they were last working (if they had to jumpdrive out of sector). They will then resume working the sector until finished there.
Required Equipment:
- Goner Ranger ship
- Jumpdrive
- Optional Triplex Scanner (increased enemy scanning and sector view) will be bought by Preacher if you don't buy one. Forget about it.
Installation: Use the X3 Script Manager/Installer.
Uninstall: Use the X3 Script Manager/Installer.
Version History:
Version 1.01 Fixed an issue with Donations/Begging
Version 1.00 Initial Release.

Ok, fixed an issue with the donations and begging. Works good now. If you downloaded v1.00, please uninstall and d/l install this new version.
Also, now I am beginning to wonder if these guys are making too much credits. Seems like they do quite well in these sectors, but, if repairs are needed etc that can be very expensive too. Hmm will wait and see what users feedback is before I give tham a pay cut.

Hi Boris_The_Blade,Boris_The_Blade wrote:Sounds good, get them goner working I like it. Would be good if the same thing but for the different races and you provide them a ship, that way you get rep as well as money
I am not quite sure I understand what you are saying there. You mean like, hire a "Prof Begger" (from the dif races) and buy a ship then give that ship to them, so they own the ship? They in turn go out begging and you get credits deposited into your account. Then, based on how much credits "they" give you, you get reputation bonus for that? Hmmm...don't really follow that one Boris. But, an interesting idea though, will have to think about that. Please clarify, if my understanding of your intended message is incorrect.

@Nividium...Love your scripts..Using them all...Now if we can just get these preachers to drop a NAV SAT in each new sector they visit..
Would make sense..Like imperialists planting their flag of conquest...LOL
Really..I'm serious, would be great!

I think a good addition for this would be to add an option to make the "preacher" either try and get donations !or! alternatively preach about the good deeds that the player has done, hence gaining reputation with the race the preacher is docked with.

Hello Moonslinger and Senator Vrax,Senator Vrax wrote:I had it working fine, until i installed the bonus script pack.
After doing that, the 'preach' command disapeared from the custom menu
the Auto Preacher uses:
Command Slots Used: "<t id="746">COMMAND_TYPE_CUSTOM_46</t>"
Text File Used: 447238.txt
But, I do not see that these command slots nor the text file has been used by any other script. So, a conflict from that is doubtful. However, it might be possible that the "bonus pack" does something somewhere. You might try to uninstall the Auto Preacher and then re-install it to see if that fixes the problem. As long as the Goner Ranger has a Jumpdrive and you are not the Pilot ie: it's one of your ships but you are not personally flying it, then the "Custom Command - Preach" should appear. Install, dock somewhere to (autosave) then reload the saved autosave and see if it shows up then.

The first post of this thread explains what the Auto Preacher does.shadowdemon2 wrote:I'm still not sure what this does: could you tell me if this actually give you the money (which sounds like "fraudulous impersonation" to me) or does it increase your rep with the Goners in proportion to what the Preacher earns, since you "sponsored" it?
Yes, you actually get the money.
No, there is no Rep impact.
Fraudulous Impersonation

I for one would rather get an improved Goner rep, as this is quite difficult (or I am too stupid to work out how), since the BBS donation message doesn't work (could be a XTM thing; I can't remember).Nividium wrote:Yes, you actually get the money.

I drop a few Microchips in the hold of my preachers, along with a few Nav Sats...Then whenever they go into a non-core area where they can land, I send them, (x,y,z) 0,15000,0 and drop a Sat and, if there is a station in the sector that trades in micros (many trading stations do), I'll sell a few, then off preaching again..Does take some time to monitor and would be nice auto, but works.
Actually, the more I think about it, rep instead of money would be a greater reward for me using them. They are a bit of a drain in the beginning with their upgrades, especially when you find one with only half a hull, the first thing they do is go repair it after I transport my jumpdrive off my Disco to them.
I wouldn't mind the drain or not recieving any money at all if I could get some rep with the Paranid...Actually if you could change the structure to where they charge a small fee for spreading the good word of "you" and all donations recieved goto the Goner (for some rep as well for those who need it) it would be great.

There are several approaches to playing this game. Alot too depends on what sort of charactor you are using ie: Non-plot starts as Goner, Split, Boron etc. They each have their own starting charactoristics and Rep positions within the role they play. One of my goals was to not interfer with the general gameplay too much. Goners and your Preachers are considered Prof Beggers by many and even the station announcer will warn visitors not to give credits to them, but to rather give credits to a recognized charity. Some may view the Goners and other Preachers as good, while others view them as a pest with their "preaching" being more of a panhandling harrassment etc.
As long as you have good rep with the Argon, you can buy Jumpdrives from TeraCorp HQ and Goner Ships from any Argon Shipyard, plus the ones you may find abandoned by Preachers who have been abducted or otherwise left the "order". If you come across an abandoned ship that has damaged hull, just sell that ship rather than put it into service or reverse engineer it for blueprints. Also, if you hang around Cloudbase N West and kill Pirates, your Goner rep will increase and if you hang around Elena's Fortune and kill Pirates, you build rep quite fast too. While you are in Elena's Forture, there is alot of Nividium rocks there that should be mined and sold within the cargo bay of a captured TS. Millions to be made there.

Hi,
I'm playing the role of a Goner in XTM and would really like to use this script. Unfortunately, COMMAND_TYPE_CUSTOM_46 is used by XTM as CMD_XTM_LRTRANS_SITE2SITE (LRT: Site-To-Site Transport).
I tried changing the command slot id's in 447238.pck with the x3 editor, but it did not work. Is there an easy way to get this to work with XTM??
Thanks for the help

Yes, you would need to extract the 447238.pck with the Mod Manager program and then it will be an .xml file. You then need to edit that text file and select a command slot that is not being used, maybe a Pirate slot is free. But if you don't know exactly what the lines are ie: are you experienced at this?, you could end up fouling up the the whole game and casuse a Crash To Desktop or Freeze etc. Egosoft really needs to address this Command Slot issue.SJH wrote:Hi,
