Chapter 18

Josh had a Lifter fitted with a rear turret and three 25 Meg shields a standard jump-drive and transporter and a deluxe cabin that was ready for deployment at the HQ. There were two new model Discos’ that were being refitted and stretched out to hold 36 passengers, two 5 Meg shields and a jump-drive.

Josh had a proposal for Lacy regarding the ships a much smaller venture that she could run on her own.

Josh was in the foyer waiting on Lacy as he seen her enter the restaurant. She had got the dress that Josh liked so well.

“So what do you think? Do you like it?” Lacy asked as she turned slowly around.

Josh was gawking at her as he answered back. “Lacy you’ve always been attractive but this dress shows how astonishingly beautiful you are!”

One of the employees took their picture as the waiter took them to their table. Every one had turned to look at the two as they were being seated. After a several minutes things begin to settle back down into a normal flow.

As the two had enjoyed their dinner Josh wanted to talk business over dessert. Lacy stopped Josh explaining that whatever he had for her she would take it. All she wanted to do was enjoy their evening together.
After dinner they entered the lounge and danced a little and enjoyed music from the live orchestra and singers.
As the two decided to call it a day and returned to the Excel Lacy asked Josh to come in her cabin.
Lacy kissed Josh as she sat him down on her bed and turned and locked the door.

At breakfast Lacy asked Josh to tell her about the next job. And to please tell her just what he was to the company a son a trusted friend or what?

Josh explained that her next assignment was to get the employees and there families to the station. Starting with management first then the workers. Josh described the ships he had at the HQ for her and the companies Buster, Mandalay and Dolphin were all at her disposal.

Josh explained to Lacy. “Use the stations Pilots on the ships. I’ll pilot the Excel and take the Station Manager and his family first. You can take the new Lifter to work out of you’ll be using it as a supply ship for the station when things get settled. When you get to the station set up in your office and store your things in your quarters. Get your furnishings here before you leave Argon space or you’ll be in an empty apartment wondering when they'll be delivered to the Station in Boron Space.”

“The Station is the first of its kind. It will produce 120 energy cells a cycle automatically using worker drones as soon as the station is completed and cleared for occupancy. So you’ll have energy cells for the jump-drives when you dock.”

Lacy looked confused as she asked. “Are you moving me out of your life? And you didn't tell me your position in the company.”

“No I’m not trying to get rid of you.” Josh stated as he held her in his arms tenderly showing her a contract.

“I want you to read this contract of none disclosure and nuptial agreement. Anything your paid or that is titled to you will remain yours. All company assets made by or as a result of your control or labor will remain the companies.
Lacy I intend on paying you well and treating you even better. This is to keep a sweet talking Lawyer out of the picture.”

Lacy signed the contract as she kissed Josh declaring. “I’m not in it for the credits. I just want to be with you.”

Josh smiled at her reply as he kissed her again.

Lacy asked just what was her position? “You’re my Personal Assistant and companion. What we do privately is no ones business.”

Josh explained that being with him meant her life would now be in danger and not to take any chances. Josh ordered a female security android and had it waiting at the door of the Excel to guard Lacy.

The Station Manager and his family were onboard as the last of their belongings was loading. Lacy said her goodbyes and went to her Lifter as the Excel left for the Solar Power Plaint.

The Inspector had just finished as the Excel docked. Josh walked of the Excel and started the automated production. And welcomed the Manager onboard the Station as he said lets get to work.

The Station was like an anthill in was so active with the employees, vendors and drones coming and going.
The jump-drives made the travel time short for the ships as the people and supplies gushed onboard the Station like a flood.

The drones from the TL were helping with the transfer of supplies and people. The restaurant was serving ready meals to those who were hungry.
Things were going well as Josh boarded the Excel to go pick up his last load bound for the Station. Normal production would be starting on the next scheduled shift.

As Josh was leaving the station he noticed a Disco firing on a damaged Piranha escorting a Lifter. Josh transported to the Exaireo and set an intercept course.

“Argon Fighter stand down and hold your fire.” Josh ordered as the Discovery keep firing on the Piranha.

The Piranha had taken serious damage the weapons were off line one shield was gone and the other was about to fell. The Boron had placed the Disco as hostile as Josh closed to firing range.

“Argon Fighter stand down now or I will open fire!” The Disco keep firing as Josh fired on the Disco to drop his shields. The Disco keep firing into the cockpit of the Piranha. Josh slid the Exaireo by the Disco as the turrets caused the Pilot to eject.

As Josh moved back out of the way so the Boron could pick up the ejected Disco pilot and lock him up as a fighter drone ejected from the Piranha. The Pilot was dead the drone must have been lodged and had broke free from the damaged ship.

The drone fired on the Disco Pilot as Josh watched in unbelief as the Pilot was burnt to a crisp.

Boron Security quickly destroyed the drone and retrieved the body and what was left of the drone.

Boron Security asked Josh to go ahead and claim the ships and order them to dock at the Shipyard so Security could examine the ships. And he could pick them up as soon as their investigation was complete.

Josh returned to the Excel to finish his last pickup. Josh was still thinking about the fight he had just seen and how both died in the end as he docked at the Trading Station.

As the Excel was loading Sarah told Josh there was a problem with Lacy. According to records She has a Husband and Son that have been in Paranid Space for the last two years doing freelance trading.

Josh pulled up the records on Lacy and her Husband. Lacy had been kidnapped of a station and sold into slavery three years ago. A Pirate keep her on a freighter for about two years before she killed him and escaped in his ship. The Mandalay she had lost in a bet. Close to a year had passed from the time she escaped till the last time she was taken.

Her Husband had been injured while onboard a Trading Station in Paranid Space. He had been exposed to a pollutant and had less than ten years left to live as a result.
As compensation the Paranid paid him a 3 million-credit settlement for his injuries. And set him up at the Trading Station as a freelancer. According to his flight records he has stayed busy carrying goods for the station.

Something just wasn’t right. Lacy wasn’t the kind of person that would abandon her family. And this Man was working around the clock saving all he could for his son.
Something was wrong and Josh intended on finding out what it was.

Josh contacted Lacy and told her to meet him onboard the SPP in his office. And had Sarah start researching for a treatment for the Man.

Lacy was waiting on Josh as he entered the office and asked Lacy to tell him what happened to her Son and Husband.
Lacy looked up with tears in her eyes as she explained how she contacted her mother-in-law after her escape only to find out her family had been killed.
The mother-in-law had sent her a copy of the report on their deaths and asked that she never call or come around her ever again.

Josh told Lacy he was sorry but he needed to know as he put his hand on her shoulder.
Josh asked Lacy to stay on the station and help the Stations Manager and to let the stations pilots finish with the transporting.

Josh had Sarah acquired a copy of the letter Lacy was sent. All transcribed messages are filed and stored at Central Security.

As Josh looked at the letter it was just as Lacy said. Sarah had a copy of the original for comparisons.
Lacy had been sent an altered version of the original stating the death of her family.

The mother-in-law had altered the letter by hiding a lie between to truths. Her Husband and Son were still alive. As Josh checked on the whereabouts of the mother-in-law, she had died crashing her Discovery into an asteroid.

Josh called Lacy into his office and begin with telling her about the death of her mother-in-law. And then begin explaining how she had been deceived and what had happened to them.

Lacy set in her chair stunned over the news as she looked out at the wall with a blank stare.
Josh wanted to comfort Lacy as he looked her in the face with a smile and told her. “Lacy you have a second chance with your family. Please make the best of it. Go and take the Lifter and find them and get acquainted with them again. We are working on a treatment for your Husband so you still can have a long and happy marriage.”

Josh hugged Lacy and smiled at her as she left as the sadness set in knowing that the sweetness of her kiss and her warm and tender touch would no longer be his.

Josh was glad for Lacy and wished that someone would contact him and tell him his family was alive.

After a few days of testing Sarah and Josh had come up with a treatment for removing the toxin.
A micro-cell designed to collect the toxin and deliver it to a small collector in his abdomen.
A belt he can wear around his stomach will control and monitor the microbe size collectors.

Josh had the Disco he capped repaired and maximized for Lacy and her Husband to use seeing she had returned the Lifter to the Station and needed a fast ship to check on their freighter.

Lacy had hired a pilot for their freighter while her Husband was on the Station in medical.
The treatment and regenerating would be stretched out over a week not to over traumatize the body.
A full recovery was the objective of the medical team working on the Man.

As the treatment was about over their small Son walked up to Josh and said. “Thanks for bringing my Mama back to me and for making my Daddy better.”

Josh felt a great since of satisfaction and delight in the words of the child as he shook the Boys hand and told him he was welcome.

Lacy and her Husband had decided to purchase a station and place it in Shore of Infinity. They had the credits and good health thinks to the medical team.
Josh sold them the Piranha and Lifter he had captured and the Disco they were using. And made a deal to transport their station.

Josh smiled as he watched the TL on a monitor as the Chief left for Shore of Infinity with the station. Josh had made friends he could count on by helping them.
There story was the kind great movies were made about and Josh was proud to have taken a part in it. The proud owners were all ready in the sector at the Trading Station hiring a crew.

Josh was still smiling as Sarah opened a COM.
“Josh you have a request from the owner of a station in Light oh Heart.”

Josh sat down at his desk and read the message. It was from the wife of the man the drone killed after he ejected. “My Security Officer has tried and was unable to find out the reason why my husband had attacked the pilot and died for it. Argon Security has suggested that I contact you and ask for your help. I am willing to pay one million credits for the information explaining His death. I want to know why and who was involved with my husband. I need to know the truth whatever it is please help me Mr. Galen.”

Sarah send the woman a message tell her I’ll take the job.
