Part IV: Summons
He knew this was the end…he thought…chills going down his spine. Was this how he was to die-with his brains splattered all over the deck without even knowing who killed him? “Turn around you” a low voice growled from behind him. He slowly moved a hand down his side, trying to get to the small 7 inch double sided blade he kept strapped to his leg. Pulling his pistols would be too obvious…As he turned about, he realized knives would also be pointless. It appeared the pilots of those Novas were standing behind him. A total of at least 30 other..well not men-there were Split, Argon, and even a few Boron in the crowd of pirates assembled behind him. “We received your recoginition codes but we never gave you clearance to dock. What the hell are you doing on our ship snooping about? Whats your name?” he spat. “I go by Scar, I am with the Black Crest family-did you receive the encrypted message that I sent to this ship.” “Did I receive the encrypted message”, he mocked-“Of course I did. Why should I help you? We are busy-slavers-and you just ruined our operation. We were about to attack that Centuar and slave the crew members, but you had to blow the damned thing up! We demand something in return-if you wish to get off this ship alive.” The pirate’s eyes bored deep into Scar’s eyes. Scar looked behind the man and noticed the other pirates had their weapons drawn. Directly behind them sat his Kea. He knew he had one option-the Kea was already crippled. He had installed a remote self-destruct system onboard for whatever event called for. If it wasn’t damaged from the fight with the Centuar, it would automatically trigger the destruction of his onboard missile warheads, as well as completely blow the ship apart. He estimated the pirates were at least 50m away from the ship. He had 4 silkworm missiles left onboard. He was about 150m away from the ship. It would be close. But he had no choice, he wasn’t about to do favors for pirates.
Scar scratches his head-he kept the remote detonator in the back of his flightsuit under his collar. “Fine. What is that you want?” He said cooly, fingers digging for the remote clipped onto his flightsuit. “We want you to bring us 200 Goner slaves. Then you will be forgiven.” He sneered. “Good luck” he added. “I don’t think I can do that” Scar said softly, his finger punching the button on the remote detonator, as he jumped away from the pirate, throwing himself on the floor and covering his head. At once the hangar was filled with a spectacular bright light as the battered Kea erupted in a massive explosion. The crowd of pirates screamed as they were caught in the blast. Flames erupted over the deck and an alarm sounded. Emergency fire blast doors locked all over the flight deck-hopefully this would keep out any other visitors, Scar thought. Once he thought it was safe to look up, he stood carefully, a pistol in each hand. True he had just blown his father’s ship, but he had no other option. The Kea was no more-only a lump of blackened burning metal lay in its place. In front of it was the smeared bloody remains of the pirate crew. Scar could smell the acidic smell of burning flesh, he glanced quickly around the room for survivors. Upon finding them he raised his blasters and removed their presence. Now to get off this hellhole, the thought to himself. His eyes lit up once again as they past over the Pirate Corvette sitting docked in the corner. Oh yes, he thought gleefully.
