Chapter 2: Troubling News

Sector “Duke’s Domain”

Lieutenant Pierson’s Log:
‘I hope the captain’s friend can help us, we wouldn’t survive in Emperor Mines going 65m/s, and I definitely can’t take on 3 Kha’ak destroyers.’

The two approach the Paranid station.

“Requesting permission to land.”

“Granted.”

The Tanker slowly docked with the Station followed by the Buster.

“Pierson I will meet you in the bar in a several mizuras, I will go find my friend.” Said Ornov

“Will do.” Said Pierson

Pierson heads to the bar, he steps in and sits at a table near the window looking on the Asteroid Field. He orders a drink and while he waited he watched a Rock Beatle flying past the window.
‘Strange things these creatures, but they do clean up after us and our mining stations’ thinks Pierson

Shortly afterwards the captain arrives with his friend, an Argon woman of around 35 stazuras old, long black hair, small nose, and blue eyes; it’s rather sarcastic that the captain called her an “old” friend.

“Lieutenant Pierson, Juni Zane. Juni, Lieutenant Pierson” says Ornov, as Pierson and Juni shake hands.
“Juni here is a scientist on Xenon and Kha’ak, she knows more about these guys more than anyone else, well apart from Kyle Brennan of course who has been in close encounter with these foul creatures and as a result to that he now is in a coma, she also has a company called XKR, I am sure that you heard about it’s rather known.”

“I only heard some things about it but not much.” Pierson slightly embarrassed

“XKR stands short for Xenon and Kha’ak Researchers, as the name suggests it studies the Kha’ak and the Xenon, they have three quarters of the size of the Argon Fleet, so they are quite strong, the only problem is that they have no Titans they are all either M6s or M7s.”

“Yes you are right about that Jack but I know you didn’t bring me here just to introduce me to your pilot and have a drink, so what brings you here?” Juni very intrigued.

“There are Kha’ak ships in Emperor Mines, 3 Destroyers and 4 Clusters, and the only way out was the gate that has been damaged by that Paranid Battleship, so we came to you for help, maybe you have 2 Jumpdrives available.” said Ornov now sounding a little desperate.

“I have go to the HQ here in Duke’s Domain for those Jumpdrives and I wouldn’t keep you waiting here so how about you two come with me I am in Express so you won’t be uncomfortable?” asks Juni

“That would be nice, yes.” Says Ornov slightly exited that he will see one of the XKR’s HQs for the first time.

“If you don’t mind me asking, where is this HQ?” asks Pierson

“Not at all, it’s in an asteroid field we discovered 80kms from here”

“Before we go I have some questions, actually we both have.” Said Ornov

“Ask away.” Juni interested in his questions

“On the way here, in Emperor Mines we encountered a Kha’ak Interceptor classified as a CV instead of a M4, now I have never heard about a CV so what is it, is it a new naming? It also seems invulnerable to Missiles but not Lasers as Pierson here took it out without a problem, and after shortly destroying it all the Kha’ak ships started jumping in the center of the circle.” Ornov saying, anxious for a quick reply.

“The CV class ships are sort of the Kha’ak gates the wander alone until they find a sector, they upload, at least I think they upload, the coordinates to their Station, they are invincible but when they set up the coordinates they drop their shield so that’s how you destroyed it, you were lucky to get out of there. Recently there are more and more of them like they are preparing another assault but we all know that it’s impossible as Kyle Brennan is in a coma.” Said Juni now being startled by the appearance of the CV.

“This is not good news, we need to get out of here, I see Paranid sectors are defenseless any idea why?” Said Ornov

“Not a clue, almost all their ships were heading to the Gate that now is damaged by that Battleship. At the time when the Battleship lost power we detected an energy spike from one of the asteroids we discovered, we found nothing in the asteroid but we did find something like the blue thing you see inside the gates floating like a nebulae.”

“Not good news at all.” Said Ornov

“Indeed” said Juni

“We should get going, we do nothing if we sit around.” Said Pierson after not speaking for several mizuras now.

They all sat up from the table, and headed to the Express Juni flown.
They all boarded.

“Requesting Permision to Launch”

“Granted”

And so they set course for XKR’s HQ in Duke’s Domain.
