“Mr. Decker, we are ready for your inspection” a man with almost ‘too clean’ coveralls said. For today there is an inspection from the chairman himself, something that normally never happens. Everything and everyone was to be in tiptop shape for the so called bigwig of Dag’n Industries.
John Decker quickly glanced over the annual operation report sighing before he placed his jacket on. “Time for the final inspection before the chairman arrives.” He announces to Marcis the senior foreman.
They chit chat a little as they make their way through the mine’s operation floor. This being more of a quick visual inspection to make sure everything looks like its running properly though they all know that’s a total lie. In fact the mine is running at half peek efficiently
Completing the inspection with a yawn, he stops at the docking bay. With a quick hawk like eye he scans the large room making 100% sure everything is in place and in working order.
“Okay, everything is good Marcis, Mr. Dag’n should be here within a mizura or so. Jack is never late.” John states as he glances over to the time piece on the wall.
“Ore Mine Alpha, this is Dag’n Star Express One requesting permission to dock.” Jack Storm calmly spoke as he came within 500 km of the mine. Being the eldest ship in the company’s fleet, more a classic then usable well profitable transport and barely computerized to modern standards, however Zaquri Dag’n loved the classic feel of his first ship he ever owned.
“Dag’n Star Express One permission granted, dock at docking bay two. Welcome to the Ore Belt Chairman Dag’n” a monotone computerized voice echoed through the com system.
Jack being a retired fighter pilot was the most trusted pilot in Dag’n Industries. He was the go to person when the chairman had to make person inspections or had to go to any where of importance. His flying always awed the station managers, maneuvering in ways that most merchants only dreamed of, able to overtake a ship and fly literal circles around it.
Maneuvering the ship around some of the biggest and smallest asteroids in the universe is cake to Jack. Especially since most are in geosynchronous orbit around the planet, however due to some mobile mining there have been more and more rocks flying around crashing into things.
“Clang, BANG “the ship shuttered but still flew straight and normal. Jack glanced down at the instrument panel then back up to the HUD without a second thought. Zaquri had a freighting look plastered on his face, his finger nails tearing into the fabric of his chair as if it were going to save him if a disaster happened.
“Just a small rock hitting the hull, nothing to worry about Mr. Dag’n.” Jack answers the question before it is even asked.
Rolling his eyes back before closing them, as well as slowly releasing his death grip; Zaquri silently praying to every god in the book.
At the solar power plant Jack yanks the controls to a hard starboard. The old ship responds to the commands of the pilot rather nimbly as it tilt over to the side as the stern top thruster’s fire pushing the ship to the new heading, perfectly aligning it to the docking bay.
“Entering docking lane, please slow to docking speed” The computer voice interrupting Jack’s train of thought.
Ignoring the order, Jack continues at full speed towards the bay so to make sure he arrives ahead of time and in his own style.
“Mister Dag’n, we are in the docking lane, shall around at the bay in just a few more sezuras” stated Jack without blinking or moving his eyes from the HUD.
“Thank you Mr. Storm.” Zaquri answers as he climbs from his chair and stands up. Straighten his jacket he walks towards the cockpit to admire just how big the mine truly was. Stopping just behind Jack he leans on lightly to an instrument panel as the docking bay comes into sight.
