Scuse my blind ignorance but...

Where can we make requests for changes to the scripting engine? In the generic 'Things I would like to see in X2' place or is there a scripting specific spot I need to visit?

Head for DevNet and post in the main Ideas forum there. There isn't a separate forum for scripting engine functionality requests.

Any idea when we are going to get the definitive guide to the scripting engine that Burnit started ages ago. I would have thought it would be finished by now.

Edit 07 sept :
Guess from the flurry of responses by the powers that be that we aint going to get the guide after all.
Didn't ES push the scripting feature of X2 to us all and I seem to remember ES telling us we would get the guide that was in the process of being written.
Ah well, that was just advertising wasn't it.... you can say anything you like in adverts, doesn't have to be true, does it.

Edit 21st Sept
Still NO response to the question ...... Must be because I didn't ask about blowing things up and combat and the size of peoples rockets.....

So can I please have the Scripting Manual so I can get the BIGGEST GUNS and the FASTEST SHIPS and the MOST POWERFUL MISSILES and equip my ships with the MOST POWERFUL SHIELDS.

That should do it, now I await eagerly for the publication of the manual.

SOME BLOODY HOPES

That depends on the script.
Read the instructions / readme that came with it.
If it doesn't have any instructions, your guess is as good as mine as to how it works. PM the author.

In general, if you have the script editor active, you may manually run a script by entering the script editor, highlighting the script, and pressing 'r' to run it.

The questions it is asking you are the arguments to the script. What they do? That depends on the script.

OK I'm a dumb ass but how do I activat the Script Editor?
I have tried flying in space and typing Thereshallbewings but all that happens is my ship speeds to full power.

I cannot see where to type this or how to get to any window that lets me type anything with a curser.

How do I get to the point at where I can write Thereshallbewings ?

if you're in space, you're in the right place. You'll never see what you typed, there is no cursor.

If no menu's opened when you typed it then it probably worked. Go the the ships command menu and press 's'. If it's worked you should be in the script editor.

Well it says "to get the shuttle there is a small script: "buy.xshuttle.xml"
you have to activate it with the script-editor."

So looks like I dont have to write a script.. Think I have to make this 1 true or something.. what you think?

um...in my X2 when i try to start my script editor it does nothing, except boost the ship, open the command menu and start looking for hostile targets. Also, in the top left corner it says 'modified' but apart from that nothing. Evil or Very Mad whats wrong?!?!?

If you have the modified tag, then you've already enabled the script editor.

You can enter the script editor in the game from your ship's command menu.

The key sequence 's' 'c' 's' will get you into the script editor once it's been enabled.

Cheers.
