The Start

Chapter 3

Josh said. “Let’s get our spacesuits on and get on the way. Sarah this is Ann she’s going to be with us on the trip in the copilot’s seat please put Ann on ship line 2.” Sarah replied. “Acknowledged Josh.”

Josh declared. “Sarah we are going to the Argon Prime shipyard turn in a flight plan to the Dock Master.
Flight plan turned in waiting on response.”

Sarah stated. “Dock Master is hailing.” “But him on.” Josh replied.

Dock master. “Josh I have a Goner here who needs a lift to the Equipment Dock in Red Light he’s willing to pay you a 1000 credits.”

Josh asked. “What do you thank Ann?”

Ann smiled and said. “It’s on the way do you have a seat for him?”

Josh explained. “The ship has a cargo life support system onboard. Four can fly in comfort.”

Josh hailed Dock Master. “It’s a deal send him over please.”

“I’ll scan him and get him seated.” Josh said. Josh went to the locker and got the new scanner opened the hatch and waited for the rider.

As the Goner walked up saying. “Bless you Brother.”

Josh scanned him he was clean. Josh showing the Goner his seat, the entertainment viewer and COM button then asked that he remain seated for the trip. Josh had just got strapped back up and asked Sarah. “Check all systems again and monitor our friend in back.”

Sarah replied. “All systems ok passenger ok and monitoring.“

Then in his ear unit Sarah said. “Josh I can control the gravity and thrust inhibiter more efficiently than the current unit.”

Josh stated. “Ok make our passengers ride as smooth as possible set my seat for 7%, copilots’ seat for 4% that should be a smooth ride.”

Josh then said a prayer asking for a safe journey.

Ann asked are you a Goner?

No Josh replied my religion is an Earth based faith.

Ann asked who taught you?

Josh replied. “My parents did.”

Ann asked what is it?

Josh stated. “I’ll tell you another time.” Josh could not tell without revealing who he was.

Josh said. “Sarah; request departure clearance.”

Sarah replied. “Departure granted would you like me to take the ship out Josh?”

Josh “Yes take us out Sarah.” The ship moved outside Sarah asked do you wish to engage autopilot?

Josh answered. “No autopilot, Ann would you like to take the helm?” Ann smiled as she said yes.

“Sarah give Ann a flight plan to the equipment dock.” Josh stated.

“Flight plan on HUD.” Sarah replied.

Ann declared. “This ship handles extremely well I can barely feel the ship moving. The old Navy disco I had to fly would jerk your head so hard it would make your neck hurt!”

Sarah stated. “Entering sector Red Light.”

Ann stayed in the flight plan in an exceptionally skillful technique, showing her piloting skills.

Ann asked “Would you like me to dock the ship manually?”

“Of course its part of flying.” Josh replied.

Ann docked the ship very effortlessly turned to Josh saying. “This is the smoothest flying ship I have ever been in.”


Josh smiled saying. “Thanks let me help our passenger out and transfer the credits.
As he moved to the cargo hole.

Josh asked. ‘Did you enjoy the trip?’

The Goner questioned. “Are we there I must have fell asleep, I thought we were still at the Temple?”

Josh said. “No rides over, as he held out the PDA to transfer the credits.” Josh made his way back in the ship wanting to get to Argon Prime so he could sit down and have a good meal.

Josh asked. “Ann are you ready to go to Argon Prime?”

“Yes I want to get my ship ordered.” Ann replied.

“Sarah set course through Home Of Light to Argon Prime.” Josh ordered. As they left the equipment dock Josh headed through the gate and entered Home Of Light and had starting in the direction of Argon Prime when Sarah said.

“Josh there is an Argon Sector Police under fire and requesting assistance.” Sarah stated.

Josh asked. “Set course, what’s under fire?”

Sarah replied. “A Pirate Bayamon has badly damaged a Discoverer.”

Josh stated. “Sarah tell the pilot on a secure channel to head for the trading station. And to avoid any incoming missiles and I will engage his attacker.”

Sarah replied. “Pilot is heading for station and haling, he wants to know who you are?”

Josh haled the pilot this is the Phoenix.

Josh said. “Ann do a concentrated scan on all freighters in range for hidden cargo. And Sarah start scanning the Bayamon for a way to capture it!”


Sarah answered. “The pirate has disabled ejection system. Marking the power generator as target to put the ship out of action.”

Josh opening fire on the Pirate with guns blazing!

“That has got to be the dumbest than I have ever seen done you sorry ---------.” The Pirate screamed.

Josh responded. “Sarah please cut his COM!”

Josh maneuvered his ship like a skilled surgeon as he sliced away at the pirate ship only allowing one shot to hit the Zippers shields.

Sarah stated. “Pirate generator disabled.”

Josh replied. “Sarah target pirate ships transmitter and I just want it destroyed.”
Sarah responded. “One shot form front weapons here will destroy transmitter.”

Josh fired. “All right transmitter off line, Pirate I know you can here me you can stay in that ship and be towed out to space! Then after a few weeks I’ll come back tow the ship in and throw your frozen dead body out an air lock! Or you can eject and be picked up by sector Police the chose is yours.”

Sarah replied. “Pirate is ejecting.”

Josh ordered. “Sarah hack the pirate ship computer and claim it. We don’t have time to board it so get it towed in to the trading station as my ship. If they’re any illegal goods or traps on board eject them or beam them of. And get me the police pilot we helped on privet COM.”

Sarah responded. “Tow ship ordered. Ship is yours. Nothing illegal onboard. Sector Police Pilot on your personal COM.”



Josh asked. “Pilot can you pick up the Pirate and take your time doing it! I believe someone had you out here alone on purpose! Security police never fly alone its suicide. Where’s your wingman?”

Sector Police Pilot answered. “My wingman is on long-range scanner patrol right now somewhere in Northwest sector. I can pick up the pirate and secure him in the hole. What do you thanks going on?”

Josh responded. “We’re scanning the freighters for hidden illegal goods. Pirates will start a distraction in a sector to get hidden cargo in a freighter past the security. Security will not take time to deep scan a ship when their buddy's getting fired on their going to assist their friend. Somehow they got your duty schedule nothing like this happens by chance they either waited or paid someone off. And pirates don’t like to wait so I would bet treachery, so take your time getting back. Wait on your wingman to watch your back if you can.”

Sector Pilot “Under stood Phoenix are you security or Military?”
Josh replied. “I use to be but now I’m a freelancer so I don’t the authority to do anything so watch your procedures do it by the book.”

Sector Pilot. “Understood Phoenix I’ll see you on station thanks.”

Josh asked. “Ann have you found anything?”

Ann responded. “Nothing yet but I have an abnormal reading on a Argon Lifter headed for the east gate #ATSL76582.”

Josh stated. “I’ve got him and closing in. Scans show anything illegal?”

Ann replied. “Nothing so far but something's no right but I just can’t find it.”

Sarah haled Josh on his ear transceiver. “Josh I can scan the ship if you get handheld unit within a 3-4 Km. distance for at least 5 seconds.”

Josh stated. “Ann I’ll get closer sometimes that helps.”

Lifter Pilot. “Hay watch out you got to close to my ship pilot!”

Ann said. “Got it he has space weed, space fuel, weapons and slaves hid inside crates of wheat.”

Josh hailed the Pirate. “Pilot you have one second to stand down and release ship control or be fired on!”

Lifter Pilot. “Are you crazy? You're signing your death warrant!”

Josh declared. “Pilot if you don’t stand down I’ll fire you up like a lightshow!” “Sarah options please.”

Sarah answered. “Captives will die if ship power is lost. The pilot is in a spacesuit but no eject system.”

Josh suggested. “I have a freight beamer onboard can you lock onto the slaves?”

Sarah replied. “No the container is to large the cargo hole.”

Josh asked. “What about the pilot can he be transported?”

Sarah declared. “Yes if you drop the shields down to 1% or lower. You can fire one-silkworm missiles then the main weapons. When at 2% switch to two on the main weapons.”

Josh fired the missile with a direct hit then opened fire watching the freighter shields drop.

Sarah stated. “One shield disabled if both shields are destroyed the captives will die.”

Josh asked. “Sarah can you beam Me onboard the freighter?”

Sarah stated. “When shields reach 5% it could be done but there’s not a safe place to put you.”

Josh affirmed. “Then put the freighter pilot into the cargo hole and secured him to the wall.”


Josh fired away paying close attention to the shields knowing life's are at risk! At reaching below 2% had turned to two guns he heard the words he wanted to hear!

“Stop Pirate secure in the hole” Sarah declared.

Josh asked. “What’s the condition of the freighters shields?”

Sarah answered. “Steady and going up. The ship now under your control and awaiting your orders.”

Josh stated. “Send it to the Trading Station and notify security of its contents and about our guest onboard. Ann please escort our newly acquired freighter in while I ask our quest a few questions.”

As Josh got up as Ann said okay then he went to the locker and got a shock stick and went into the cargo hole.
The Pirate was restrained on the wall by a holding field, as Josh got closer the Pirate started pulling at the unseen restraints. Josh immediately stunned the Pirate with the shock stick then strapped the Pirate down with manual shackles and scanned him for weapons or toxins. The only thing he had was a plaster already removed when he was beamed onboard.

Josh ordered. “Decrease the field restraints to 25%. Now I have a few questions for you what’s your name?”
The Pirate scornfully. “None of your -----AAAAAAA.”

Josh shocked him before he could hurl anymore obscenities at him. The stick was no longer on stun, but heavy shock.

The Pirate stated. “You can’t -----AAAAAAAAAA.”

Josh declared. “Your on my ship now I want answers this can be over now or we can take days! You will tell me what I want to know now or in a few days you’ll be begging for your death! Tell me what I want and I’ll turn you over to Argon Security or make it hard we fly out to deep space for a few days and you won’t come back!”

The Pirate screamed as Josh shocked him one more time to prove his resolve.

Ok okay the Pirate pleaded. “Ok I’ll talk!”

Josh asked. “What’s your name?” “My name is Elk.”

Josh asked. “Who do you work for?” Elk answered. “A Split called Dragon.”

Josh asked. “Where were your taking the goods?” Elk replied. “To a new base in Brennan’s Triumph.”

Josh stated. “Now last thing remove the blocks of your personal and company PDA.” As Josh held them up one at a time to Elks hand so he could open the data.

Elk explained. “You know I’m a dead man! The Dragon will kill me for losing his ship! All I wanted was to be a freighter pilot. I jumped at a chance to get out of the mines! All I do is pilot the ship I don’t load it. I thought it was wheat I scanned the cargo.”

Josh stated. “I believe you. Don’t you know that, the wicked get their just reward quicker than most evil attracts evil! Evil men don’t get along well with each other so it won’t be long till somebody will kill him to take his place. Sinful hearts beat to spread the blood of injustice and injustice cry’s for vengeance!”

Josh locked the hatch to the cargo hole as he returned the shock stick to the locker and made his way back to the pilots seat.
Josh asked. “How long till the Lifter is cleared? Those people need out of there and without a doubt medical assistance! Sarah what’s the holdup?”

Sarah replied. “Their scans are inconclusive and show no hidden cargo.”

Josh ordered. “Then send them a copy of our scans!”

“Scanner details sent and have been received, Security Forces landing freighter now to investigate. Argon Security ask that we land and hand over the Pirate.” Sarah replied.

“Acknowledged Argon Security.” Josh answered.
“Sarah auto dock and copy the information from the Pirates PDA’s incase we need it later.” Josh ordered.

I've been following your story since the first installment, and I've finally decided to give you my compliments. Very well written story, every time I finish reading one chapter I can barely wait for the next one. *claps* keep up the good work.

There's just a few gramatical errors and some small things with the flow of your writing, otherwise you've you got a good idea and you've stuck with it. That's a good thing. Just so you know I have been following the story.
