Hells Gate (The Last Banshee) *a mission map



The BbS wires are HOT! A little known sect of the Goner race (The Mad Goners) has defected to the Khaak! Setting off nividium enhanced explosives inside the Goner Temple at Cloudbase Southwest, and stealing the computer design and specifications for two of the Confederates top fighter ships! Destroying the Temple has devastated research and development for the Confederate Banshee and Confederate Osprey MKII! With only one prototype of the Banshee in service (your ship), the Confederacy has called on the assistance of all the free races to prepare for the worst!

Argon intelligence has reported sightings of Khaak controlled Banshees and MKII's in certain sectors as well as rumours of a strange Mad Goner shipyard deep in Khaak territory that dares any race to come purchase their newly built ships!

To make matters worse; the pirate bases have worked out a semi-alliance with the Xenon to strengthen their base against the new threat! For the exchange of stolen military secrets the Xenon have turned over a decommissioned shipyard to the pirates!
Understanding the threat, the 6 major races (Confederacy included) have called to align themselves against the new threat. The Argon has set up a special HQ trading station in a mineral depleted Paranid mines area and invited all the free races to set up their headquarters there.

The warning is out! If the Khaak start mass producing the awesome Banshee and MKII, the universe will never be the same again!

*What to do with the Banshee has been on my mind ever since I first played the Deadly Mod..Just to darn powerful for the game! 90MW shielding (with wares) 75MW (ship only) and 6...I repeat..6 BHEPT! I had to make it harder to get the darn thing since I have no idea how to price it at a staggering 1 Billion!

This is what I call a "mission mod"..No real scripted missions; the map is just set up in such a way that you have to do certain things to achieve certain goals.

The Banshee and Osprey MKII can no longer be purchased at shipyards; unless of course if you want to run the Khaak guantlet, the Mad Goners will gladly take your money! Good luck getting them out though as there is NO equipment dock for upgrades..hehe! :twisted:

This is not the "traditional" X2 map. This is a highly modified version of a popular German map by Trek. In all honesty this is one of the best maps I have ever played if I do say so myself..:-)

Install:

map in maps folder...scripts in scripts folder...mod in mods folder..t in t folder.

hmm sounds good. Downloading now.
But tell me. With the likes of the Star Destroyer and the Boron Shark in the Top_Gun mod, what makes you think, 6 HEPT's? was it? What makes you think people will be impressed by this and pat 1 bill for one of these ships.

If a person tries to play as legit as possible "modding"' (trading and buying their ships as they go)..Those huge ships are priced high enough to justify them "somewhat" in the game..However the Banshee in the Deadly mod is priced at such a lower price, yet has the power to "wipe out" an entire Xenon sector with "lasers only" in a very short time. (M3?) I left "one" playable Banshee on this map (player ship), probably a mistake. The Banshee can still be purchased, you just have to run a guantlet to get it if you want more than one.

In my opinion the "Rebel" should have been the top Deadly M3, but it has a problem fitting through Boron Docking bays (be careful if flying one..lol)

Hmmm..Seems I read about a fix for that problem, can't remember what it is or where I read it though..

I am currently working on a big map that seperates all the Deadly ships throughout the races..In other words each race will use a different class of the ships..Every "docked" ship from "each" station will be changed for each race...I am still experimenting on getting the shipyards to build only those ships for their perspective race...If anyone has any thoughts on that I'm all ears...CQ

mmmmm.. this is really starting to get interesting... so explain it to me straight.

The systems throught the whole universe are totally changed? correct?
You can buy superships that on their own can wipe out entire sectors? correct?
what else does this map thing have?
(sorry I've only downloaded it so far, I haven't had much time to play computer.)

I suggest looking at Harlocks Top_Gun mod 2.5, that's where you'll find some big ships. The three I know are, The colossus The shark and the Star Destroyer. I know the first two are in an unmodded version of the game, but oh ho man he certainly changed them.
Plus if you really want to impress people with big ships, make a Super Star Destroyer, people have been begging for one for ages, but no-one will make one. to big! they say :) well that seems what your aming for :) keep updating and improving this thing and you could have a winner :)

This is not a "mod", but simply a "modified map and t file" in an attempt to "tone down" certain "overpowered" items gained early in the game. I am a great big fan of the Deadly mod and love the great work he and others put into the models of the new ships in it. What I wish I could do was have the ability and knowledge to reduce the shield strength or laser capability on some of the ships, to make the game more challenging. I am not a modder, just a map maker and script modifier.. :)
