Chapter 4: Computer Doubt!
The xenon Destroyer pivoted a full 180 degrees and sped away from the Excelsior, completely ignoring them.
“I want to know where it going, NOW.”
“Captain, it appears that everything in this sector has changed course, they appear to be heading towards the… wait they’ve changed course, now heading towards an asteroid at co-ordinates 18, 241, 02.”
“Contact fleet command; tell them the xenon are behaving very strangely, ignoring anything that they would normally attack. Get us into a low orbit of the planet, full scans; find out why the xenon are ignoring us. How long until we have full power and the cloak back?”
“Engineering reports we can cloak in 10 mizauras, and have full power back in just over 30 mizauras.”
“Can they detect us in the atmosphere?”
“Yes but they’re ships are to bulky to enter after us, they could probably fire long range missiles but they still seem to be ignoring us.”
As the Ensign finished stammering the sentence out, the ship rolled violently, shaking everyone on the bridge. Then levelled out, coming into a perfect orbit round the planet.
The computer announced “orbit reached, starting scans.”
“Have we found out where the xenon are doing yet?”
“They all appear to be gathering round the asteroid. I can’t make out what they are doing from here.”
“On screen.”
Everyone looked on in total shock as they took in the total mass of ships.
“How many are there?”
“Over 200 capital ships and 500 fighters. Installations and carriers still launching.”
“Why would they need that many ships around an asteroid?”
“There is a new unidentified object on long range scanners,” The computer said in a less than urgent tone. The captain looked around.
“Time to interception?”
“I estimate it will arrive in the sector in 10 mizauras.”
As all of this was happening, the ensign was constantly scanning the sector and the planet. What she found greatly scared her.
“Captain, as usual the planet has been stripe mined by the xenon, but this planet has not been laid to waste. There over a thousand separate construction yards on the surface but our scanners cannot penetrate the surface deeper than ten meters.”
“A thousand shipyards, how could that be? Why can’t we scan deeper then ten meters?”
“There is an unknown alloy blocking our sensor readings”
“Sir, the unknown ship had changed speed. They will be here in less than seven mizauras!”
“Have we got a visual yet?”
“No it’s still over 500,000 kilometres away”
“That means that its travelling at over 70000 MPS, how the hell?”
As the crew talked another unknown ship came flying by, it looked ghostly. Pure white, it only took a second to get through the system but it meant complete havoc was about to take place in the x-universe.
