PART 2
*PING*
The elevator door opened. They were now standing inside the Control Center, it was much smaller then the other floors. Probably because it was the peak of the main hub, the CC was shaped like an octagon. It had an amazing view; the clear panels looked out showing the asteroids creating a greenish glow because of the sun behind it. Outside you could see long circular tubes stretching from what seemed to be the first floor to each of the four sub hubs; from inside the CC they looked enormous. Each like a miniature city, which wasn’t far from the truth since for many races station 89, was a permanent residence.
There were countless computers and two huge screens. Which both read *LOCKDOWN* in a reddish tint.
“Lisa get information on the population and what the lockdown is going to hinder. Max find out what happened to the security forces and get me some video feed.”
“Yes Sir”
“On it Leo”
Leo turned his assault rifle over his back letting the strap hold it, everyone else came to ease too.
Leo began to walk towards the main computer, as he got closer he saw a note stuck to the computer screen. Leo ripped it off and examined it. There was a small trace of blood on it.
It read
“Leo, my squad has been here for less than a hour and I have already lost three members. I have no idea what kind of crazy s*** is going on here. There are these huge Jurassic looking beasts following us. Hit them in the neck if you see them… I hope you don’t. I have orders and I intend to complete my mission, what’s left of my squad is going to continue to the Paranormal Studies.
J.H (Jonathon Horn)
P.S Stay away from level three on this hub we barricaded it from the stairs, I lost three of my squad there, the scientists… they have a blue glow in their eyes and they tore one of my me-
There was a quick scribble at the end like the pen slashed across the paper.
Leo took the note folded it and put it into his breast pocket. He thought about what he had just read and kept it in mind.
“Leo!” Max shouted
Leo walked over and bent a little over Max to see what it was. The top left of the screen read.
Sub Hub 04 Paranormal Studies-Library
The view was big it was probably from a high up ceiling because he could see the bookshelves like a miniature maze. In it was a peculiar site, it was a man, all he was wearing was some tattered patient pants, and he had short brown hair from what Leo could see. He was standing there cornered in a U of Bookshelves and he was frantically throwing books at some unseen enemy and yelling something in between each throw.
“Zoom out” Leo ordered
Max looked down and pressed a button and the screen began to zoom out. The patient was throwing books at another man dressed identical to Leo and Max. It was a soldier from the entry assault team.
He had his gun behind him being held by its strap like Leo’s and was trying to coax the patient from his position. He ducked and evaded another book.
The patient grabbed another book and in his mid arch before throwing it stopped and dropped the book. He then just pointed at something behind the soldier. The soldier turned and was violently ripped out of the view from the camera. The patient began to climb the bookshelves; bullets began hitting random parts of the room. The patient looked back and punched in a vent fence and crawled inside.
“What the hell was that?” Max shouted
”Wait…” Leo whispered
After a few more moments a huge beast head came into the cameras view but only the back was visible. The creature walked further into view as its massive body moved desks and chairs effortlessly. The whole back of this creature was filled with huge brown spikes all over its purple orange skin. It had to have been the same kind of species of the thing they had seen in the corridor of level 2.
The rest of the squad joined in and had been watching since the beginning. From what they could see the creature was probably 10ft tall huge torso, small legs and long arms. Its whole figure was a massive collection of scaled armor, spikes and muscles.
It stopped in the middle of the cameras view and turned its head quickly throwing the soldiers body out of its mouth as it hit the camera and cut the feed into a white haze.
“This mission isn’t gonna be no nap is it Leo…?” Alan asked
“No… Lisa what did you find?” Leo turned his attention undisturbed by the image
“Well the population of this whole station was at a good 31,195. That includes all Argon, Split, Boron, Teladi and Paranid, and the subjects in paranormal studies and finally the marine security detail. The lockdown is making it impossible to get to Bio-Tech from this Hub. It seems the Paranormal Studies hub was already breached, and so were the other two. But to get to Bio-Tech we have to go through either Paranormal Studies or the Mini City Atmospheric Residence. Via Personnel rail which, which seem to be tiny railways connecting each station to its adjacent station.”
“So this whole place is a big square with an X in the middle.” Jake said
“Yea pretty much, lockdown never closes off the personnel rails so we should be able to get there from going through the other sub hubs adjacent to it.” Lisa answered
The lights flickered for a moment and everyone looked up quickly.
“Alright here’s the plan. Lisa and Alan you two will go look for any survivors in the City Hub. Jake and Cypher make your way to the Bio-Tech hub by going through the Ship and Weapon Design Hub. Max and I will go through paranormal studies. If any of you see that big ugly thing aim for its neck and look out for contaminated personnel. Stay together…”
Everyone nodded and they made their way to the elevator. Cypher slightly ducking because of his height, Leo came in last and surveyed the outside view one last time and pushed the first floor button.
25...24………12…11…10
Then suddenly the number to floor three lit up.
“Oh S***!” Leo shouted
“What’s wrong?” Jake asked
“Horn warned me about the third floor being filled with screwed up scientists.”
Leo tried to push a button for 6th floor.
7…6…5
“Damn it looks like were hitting 3” Leo said
Cypher leveled his minigun at the door getting ready. Then made a small growling noise of disapproval.
“Everyone ready yourselves.” Leo ordered.
Everyone’s guns were raised along with the appropriate clicks of the safeties.
4…3… *Ping*
Slowly the elevators doors opened, there was a series of voices…in low whispers, beastly growls and they were getting louder and closer…
“Close the doors!” Max yelled
Lisa frantically hit the close button, then the lights inside the elevator flickered... then suddenly it was pitch black. And the voices were getting closer and closer, louder and louder.
