Station 89 Chapter 2

The centaur was slowly guided inside the massive docking bay. The centaur fit nice and snug in its docking bay. This resembled a port on earth “U” where the ship just fit snugly inside. There was another centaur similar to their own, on the side read “AR-4 Dagger Squad”.

There were 14 other ports only four were empty. There were 2 discoverer’s, 1 buster, 2 Mercury’s and 5 Nova’s.

The huge docking port had a personal bay with crates and lifters all over the place. This place looked normal for all Leo could tell.

“Everyone split up we got middle, Cypher, Jake take east side, Alan, Lisa take west side meet at the main door”

Leo and Max both walked cautiously but quickly through the maze of boxes and open spaces with their respective weapons up and ready against their shoulders. The echoes from the squads boots echoed through the giant port.

Cypher’s raspy split voice came on everyone’s headset “Clear”
Then came Lisa’s “Clear”

Leo and Max came to a huge vault like door at the far end opposite of the docking bays.

“Clear” Max said

After a few moments the rest of the squad joined in.

There was a red light above the door, and a keypad on the right that read.

“Lockdown Initiated”

Leo looked at it for less then a moment “Lisa…”

“On it”

She reached into her back holster and took out a small wallet looking device. She then placed it on the keypad and it extended covering the whole thing then sticking to it.

It made a series of beeps, then a click.

“Access Granted”

The huge door opened slowly as the hydraulic mechanism made a cool depressurizing noise, which then revealed a hallway 10ft wide and about 10ft high. It looked like it ran down for a good 100 yards which then had an intersection creating a + sign every 20 yards. Bright white lights illuminated the stainless steal panels running the lengths.

Leo took point; he walked towards the first intersection and quickly looked down both left and right. All on both sides he saw various hydraulic doors much like the one they had just entered with numbers on them and a colored dash running its length diagonally. He looked at the side of one of the corridors and saw a camera with a red light illuminated above its lens.

He wondered if anyone was watching them at this moment. If there were any survivors, they would most likely be holed up somewhere.

Leo raised his hand up and pointed for the squad to continue the sweep. They came to the second and third intersections to an identical scenes.

“Nine hours until detonation”
The whole team as a unit all raised their left forearms up and punched in a timer to count down to 0400 hours.

Leo touched a button on his belt. “Okay everyone pull up your maps.”

Everyone touched a button on their belts, displaying a map inside their helmets, according to it they were all in Main Hub Level 01 Administration and Sub Transport. It listed various rooms ranging from 01-40. The lounge areas processing rooms all that crap that keeps you waiting when you’re trying to do something important.

“Lets get to that elevator northeast of us, we need to take the fourth intersection, lets move we got less then nine hours.”

Everyone started to jog towards the intersection and turn right when everyone stopped instantly in their tracks.

This whole corridor was a nightmare; the walls were bathed in blood. Every few seconds the lights would flicker and sparks jutted out of loose cords that came out of the walls which looked like they had been torn to shreds. Even the lights that worked fine were splattered with blood letting only a small amount of light to pass through.

A eerie feeling crept into everyone’s backs, even Cypher, who couldn’t get shaken up for s***.

“So I guess were taking the stairs?” Jake asked

“Just to the second level hopefully the elevator is accessible their or else we take the stairs” Leo said

A few moments later they left the grizzly scene and came up to the maintenance stairway which was never used. Leo entered first and was met by a flight of stairs that seemed to bend left, left, left, and left forever.

They began the climb. After another few moments they reached a door marked L02. Leo pushed it open and then they made their way from the northwest to the northeast corner of the level.

According to the map this level was still Administration without the Sub.

Leo pushed the button for the elevator, and it began to descend from the 1st floor.

‘That’s strange’ he thought ‘the reports implied contact was lost on level 25, they must have made it somewhere else. Hope you made it okay Jonathan”

The elevator kept descending and Jake kept looking about down the hallways. He was looking down so he could see the southeast corner. When a flash of movement caught his eye, it looked like the shape of big scaly bear. One second it appeared the next it just sunk back into the hallway.

“Uh...Leo”

Leo turned his attention from the elevator numbers to Jake.

“What is it?”

“I think I just something, something big.”

“What did it look like?”

“I didn’t see it for very long but I think it was watching us from the hallway corridors.”

Just then the lights at both ends of the big L where the elevator was began to flicker. The farthest light on both sides did. Then they both went out…and light after light on both sides they began to go out.

“Oh s***”

Leo’s stare shifted from darkness to darkness as it slowly crept up on their position.

“Everyone high beams now.”

Alan protested “Why can’t we use night vision”

“Because we don’t know if the lights are going to turn back on NOW DO IT.”

Leo stared into the darkness coming from the south rather then the one coming from the stairwell door. They had about 20 more lights and they were going out quickly, just then he noticed it.

After another light went out a silhouetted head emerged, it was trippy looking. One second the light would go off the head would emerge, then sunk in darkness and the head would reemerge. All Leo could tell was that the head was huge and had huge Jurassic looking horns coming from behind its head extending backwards in a long straight spike.

Max asked awkwardly “Can I shoot it?”

“Everyone aim!” Leo shouted

The beams six beams illuminated the area from which the head was advancing. The six beams wavered around and moved from side to side quickly revealing nothing, the corridor was empty.

The last light went out and everyone was in the darkness, except for the six beams coming from the barrel mounted lights.

3…2 *Ping*

The doors to the elevator opened and the lights inside stretched beyond and into the corridor creating a dim series of halos on the walls. Everyone quietly and cautiously took steps backwards as they made their way into the elevator with their guns still up and aimed at the hallway. Leo was last to enter and as soon as he was inside he pushed the button for the 25th floor. The doors screeched and then began to close, when it was about 2ft from closing the head reappeared at the very top and everyone aimed again a huge tongue spilled out of what looked to be a mouth and then the doors closed.

Everyone exchanged awkward glances.

“Leo what was that?” Jake asked

“Hell if I know, it was damn ugly though”

“Maybe it’s a lab pet, this is a research station right?” said Max

“According to this the four huge domes are labeled, Sub Hub 01 Atmospheric Residence, Sub Hub 02 Ship and Weapon Research, Sub Hub 03 Bio-Tech Research, Sub Hub 04 Paranormal Studies.” Said Lisa

“Lets just get to the Control Center and do our mission and get the hell out of here.” Said Alan.

As the elevator ascended towards the Control Center they had no idea that they had just entered a nightmare from which they would not wake or ever forget, if any of them lived that is.

Thanks preciate the enthusiasum. I got distracted while writing my main story. So i wrote this, it was supposed to be a short one. 1-3 chapters. But i realized i could make it bigger and probably should.
