The Last Arclite Chapter 13 The Anti-Hybrid

Earth

Black-Tech Outpost
1640 Hours

Ghost walked in the middle of the compound. There was a relatively low light coming from the destroyed hummer near the gate. He walked cautiously with a confidence, as his sniper rifle tightly clung to his back thanks to a strap, along with his twin blades. You could not see his expression since he was wearing a gas mask that covered everything a little below his eyes, but you could see those cold eyes wandering about the remains of the compound with anticipation. The rain bounced and trickled down his black armor.

The lightning hit the ground hundreds of yards away but they illuminated the features on his face clearly. For a second you could see that his eyes were dark green, underneath his left eye a jagged sword engraved probably with a laser. His hair stopped a good little distance before his brow, jet black.

But no other being alive has seen his full face, not to live to tell about it anyway. If one would live and tell others, they would describe a series of jagged scratches coming from above and under his lips extending to the cheeks.

Ghost was now directly in the middle of the compound. To his front 30 yards away the gate and the destroyed Hummer. To his left the communications building and a lookout tower 20 yards, to his right the shot up command center, the armory and the barracks, and the lookout tower, 20 yards, behind him about 60 yards away just a broken fence that he used to get inside the compound.

Ghost knew that he had an advantage somehow, but figuring it out was the task at hand. He closed his eyes and looked down.

Inside Ghost’s mind the world began to change. The rain was beating hard now, but slowly it eased to a small crawl. The wind stopped howling and the fire moved ever so slowly. A raindrop was easing its way towards Ghost’s armor at a crawl. It hit and it dispersed into four different parts each separated from each other. Then all at once time seemed to stand still. It was a fraction of a second that he needed, and then it happened.

A small wave of sound penetrated the fortress of Ghost’s mind but it was what he wanted to hear.

A muffled cough to his left… behind the communications building.

Instantly Ghost sprang into action pulling out two of his silenced glocks from his sides, they blended in completely well being just as black as his armor.

Behind the communications building was hollow, who had been closest to the crash and had been hit in the leg pretty hard by a stray piece of metal. After finally pulling it out and holding in his scream he wrapped it but as he tightened it he couldn’t help but cough. A small trickle of blood fell to the ground as he opened the window to the communications building. Only moments after shuffling himself in, Ghost appeared from the side of the building with his guns up.

The cat and mouse game had begun.

Ghost looked at the window immediately and saw a line of blood fall downwards. He walked towards it and threw something inside and then began running to the other side of the building where the front two doors were.

-----

Crow was making his way up to the tower to the right of where Ghost started cautiously. As Crow was climbing the ladder by 4’s two hands at a time and a quick jump between. He looked down to his right and saw that Hazzard was making his way into the Weapons Stockpile from the window. He looked around to see where Tribe was, he was nowhere in sight.

He thought to himself ‘That’s just like you’

Inside the communications compound Hollow watched in horror as a foreign object the size of a baseball entered the window. He quickly limped behind one of the many interconnected cubicles and hit a button on his belt initiating the tinted visor, with a quick slide it went over the primary visor.

Even so, a blinding flash of light illuminated every square inch of the communications building.

From the tower it even got through Crow’s helmet visor and made him momentarily wince at the brightness.

When Crow regained his sight all he saw was the front two doors to the communications building closing.

-----

Ghost strode in with a deadly purpose.

“Come out come out wherever you are.”

Hollow’s world was a full haze and slowly came back to him, the dizziness stayed with him.

Ghost looked around at all the 50 cubicles, 50 possible hiding spots, 50 possible ambush sites if he made a mistake he thought to himself.

----

Hazzard stood up inside the Armory and found himself staring into a massive array of weapons. Grenades of every type, Sub machine guns assault rifles, Miniguns, Triple barreled assault rifles, Sniper rifles, Automatic Shotguns, Lightning Rifles, Flame pistols and throwers. Pulse beam Miniguns.

Only one thing caught his eye though.

Hanging there on the wall fully assembled, with black lifeless eyes was something Hazzard had only seen in pre production while still in the syndicate, how it managed to get into a B-T armory Hazzard did not know.

Typed across the left chest piece was the name “Horizon”.

From what Hazzard could remember it was a Mech of reason, it could feel emotion it could share a love for its team members like a brother. If it felt the need to it would disobey orders unless the override code was initiated. One of the main reasons for this is because parts of a real human brain had been transferred to the Mechs carcass.

While a Therion costs around 1.1 million on the market. The Horizon model is one of a kind, literally. There is only one Horizon model out in circulation and it is within Hazzard grasp. Going for about 20.4 Billion this Mech is a jack of all trades. From memory this thing can outsmart and outmatch any squadron of Mechs, so long as the correct cover, distance, weapons and energy among other thing is considered in the equation.

“Whoa…” He breathed “Now how do I do turn you on…”

----

Hollow stood up with his M-30 firing wildly towards the front of the Comm building. His bullets found their mark, into the steel plated door. The bullets ricocheted off the door in random directions. Ghost quickly rolled out of the way when he saw the wildfire.

Ghost stood up and returned fire with the silenced glocks, they made almost no noise but the bullets almost literally made the damage of a large caliber slug. Due to the expanding bullets that the glocks used they gave a more intimidating impact then it looked.

Hollow ducked and shuffled to another cubicle that wasn’t exploding to piece’s in front of him. He was breathing hard and fast, he pulled a grenade out of his chest netting pushing a red button for 3 seconds and lobbed it over.

Ghost saw it and reached into his back quickly and pulled out a small metal panel like object and slide his arm through the hand guard, and quickly shook it the way someone ties to get ketchup out of a stubborn bottle.

The grenade exploded 4 ft away from Ghost in a quick burst of fire and pressure. The nearest 10 cubicles in all directions where instantly vaporized and smoke and dust went everywhere.

After a few second Hollow looked up and looked through the dust.

His eyes lit up in pure horror.

Ghost was standing there behind a huge metallic umbrella that was now black from the impact of the grenade. The whole thing looked literally like half of a mummy tomb. Except it looked more like a bats wings then a tomb. The panels slide back in and the skeleton like bases slide themselves back in. Ghost was staring right at Hollow, his gun leveled at his head.

Hollow never heard the bullet leave Ghosts gun. Nor did he feel any pain. After years of Special Forces Hollow had survived against Goliaths, full squadrons of B-T forces and mercenaries.

The bullet went through his brain and his head, luckily for him the bullet expanded after it hit the wall behind him. In his final seconds of breathe all he could see were those cold eyes, and then nothing… just black.

“Humans…” said Ghost as he slid his extending shield somewhere into his back combat armor, and then reloading his two glocks.

----

Crow watched through his lens as Ghost appeared through the doors of the Comm building. His figure was silhouetted by the dim lights inside the building.

He watched Ghost look around, and then Crow saw movement to the left.

It was Tribe with his blade drawn creeping his way to where Ghost was.

“Its about time” he muttered

He moved his lens to where Ghost was.

“Oh S***”

Ghost was looking right at him.

----

Ghost saw the hybrid looking at him and to something at his right. Ghost quickly reached to his left with his right hand and grabbed something and then turned quickly and threw it. It was a small spear like object.

----

Tribe saw Ghost do it and instantly stopped and ducked and rolled to the right. As he did so he looked at the small object that opened up into a huge net. The little spear thing extended outwards into a longer spike so it could stick into something. It happened so quickly even Tribe barely had time to react.

----

Team instincts kicked in, crow stepped over the tower elevated at around 40ft and jumped off. His gun aimed at Ghost and already firing wildly to distract him from crow recovering.

----

Mars
Black-Tech HQ- Tactical Department

It was a two on one, and the gate tower camera was catching the whole thing having a perfect view of the whole mid ground of the compound. Everything relaying to the tactical HQ on mars. A whole team of analysts was watching, amongst them the engineer that constructed the plans for Ghost. Everyone was scribbling notes on their pads. Words like Reaction, Intensity and Outnumbered were being written.

----

Ghost turned from proactive to reactive, and rolled and shot in Crows direction. One stray bullet nailing him in the shoulder but thanks to the armor it was only impact damage and he fell to the ground backwards.

He turned to see Tribe coming at him with his sword in front of him. Ghost took aim and fired. Tribe just moved his blade in a quick blur and the bullet bounced off and expanded on the ground.

He holstered one pistol in favor of one of his blades. He was now holding one silenced pistol and a blade in each hand. He confronted Tribe with a quick slash their blades met and created sparks. Each dodge and countering their blows in quick decisive movements.

Crow only began to stand as a Ghost loosed shots in his direction causing Crow to take fire and try to return it.

Ghost fended a blow and then quickly side kicked Tribe sending him a few feet. A few shots hit Ghost in the chest but didn’t penetrate.

He shot back at Crow and ran out of rounds. After a quick shuffle he reloaded and switched back to two pistols. With Tribe a safe distance away from him at the moment. He began strafing to the left towards the gate shooting at Tribe and Crow as they both either dodged or blocked the bullets.

Crow jumped onto the HQ and began matching Ghost’s strafe with his own as he fired his machine gun pistol at Ghost.

Tribe ran around as he dodged the bullets at his feet behind the Comm building.

Ghost lost sight of Tribe for the moment and focused his attention on Crow.

Two shots and Crow went down again, this time they hit him straight in the chest expanding, but once again the armor saved him. Only sending him back out of view for a momentary few seconds.

Tribe reemerged from the Comm buildings doors but Ghost was ready.

Ghost and Tribe reengaged each other; it was an amazing thing really. To see a Hybrid made for blade combat and a assassin equally as deadly.

Ghost swung and Tribe ducked and low kicked, Ghost jumped backwards and swung as he did so, fending off three of Tribes blows in mid air. Tribe swung left, right, right down and up. Each time being either countered our just hacking into thin air.

Crow regained his composure and reloaded watching Tribe fending off four quick blows.

Ghost caught movement in the corner of his eye and then kicked Tribe straight in the gut causing him to reel back for a split second. It was all he needed he spun again and threw another one of the spear like objects right at Crow.

Crow watched as a small silver object made its way to him incredibly fast he jumped into the air but it was too late. The netting extended outwards and caught him at the knees. The spear extended and nailed itself into the Tower furthest from the gate where he had started. Crow dangled upside down as he watched his gun fall from 35ft and land with a thud at the bottom. He reached for his combat knife, but it was in vein. Because at that moment that his hand touched the handle another net got his upper body, but that was only possible because the extended spear went right through his plated armor and stomach.

Crow coughed a bit of blood; all he could do was lay his head back as the blood began spilling in his stomach trickling down his neck, ears and nose.

Tribe watched in horror as he saw Crow netted onto the side of the circular tower.

Ghost quickly pulled out two blades and returned his attention to Tribe.

Ghost hacked almost wildly now. Two at a time, left right, right left, down left. Then finally both down. Tribe caught the last blow and now they were both caught head to head. Ghost creating a X that could cut Tribes head off if it was any closer and Tribe was desperately trying pull him off.

It was incredible how strong this guy was Tribe thought to himself. He had never fought anyone so strong, even the Mechs were easier to fight then this guy.

Slowly the struggle turned in favor of Ghost as the twin blades got closer and closer.

“You’re a strong one aren’t you buddy” Tribe managed say in a strained mutter.

Ghost just narrowed his eyes, but underneath the gas mask he was smiling and Tribe knew it.

To Ghost’s bewilderment out of Tribes oversized gloves and forearm guards extended three blades, each the size of a combat knife which was about 2ft. Tribe pushed up and his sword flew into the Armory wall and stuck there.

It was a face off once again. Tribe standing with his hands up, each hand with 3 combat knife like blades menacingly curved. Ghost matching the stand with two long thin blades and his sides. Ghost turned one blade upside down combat knife style.

It was Tribe who made the first move. Punching, then ducking and countering Ghost’s deadly movements.

Ghost swung quickly and everything slowed down. The raindrops slowing to spectate a clash of warriors. Ghost’s blade held combat knife style nearly severed Tribes head. Tribe did a limbo bend and donkey kicked Ghost in the stomach sending him flying a good 30ft.

Tribe stood and began running towards Ghost who landed and rolled backwards back up into a fighting stance not far from the burning hummer.

It was a bad move.

Ghost had expected this and ran towards him. He waited until they were 10ft away from each other and for Tribes next step.

As soon as Tribes foot hit the ground a knife went through it nailing him to the ground. Tribe roared in pain, but Ghost wasn’t done there. He passed Tribe quickly and buried his blade through Tribes chest, pulling it out after a quick turn. He then grabbed Tribe behind, and extracted the blade that nailed him down and threw him into the Armored Vehicle near the Armory.

Mars
Black-Tech HQ- Tactical Department

Everyone in that tactical room on mars cheered and began clapping. Everyone except Dr. Yuri Smurkovi.

“Silence!” he demanded

“What’s wrong did you not just witness your soldier exterminate Dr. Silverado’s prized prototypes?” asked a fellow scientist.

“This means nothing! There is still the X02 Hybrid…”

There was silence across room and everyone turned there attention back to the huge screen.

----

Ghost quickly sheathed his blades after getting the blood off of them.

Then turned his attention to the armory.

“I hear you in there!” he yelled “Come out and face me!”

The doors slowly opened.

What Ghost saw next caused his eyes to bulge for a second not because he was scared, but because it was unexpected.

Hazzard was standing there armed to the teeth. On his shoulders he had two oversized four barreled rocket launchers. He was strapped with grenades and a wide assortment of guns, ranging from his prized Desert Eagle to his two three barreled assault rifles.

Ghost had one second to react. As all eight pods released a huge hurricane of precision missiles aimed directly at Ghost.

Tribe and Crow both managed a weak smile, despite that they were both bleeding profusely.

Fierce fight. Considering that the Alcalites are expecting four hybrids, I assume Crow and Tribe can't die just yet. The image of Hazzard armed to the teeth is almost funny, reminds of Hot Shots 2. :D

Looking forward to the next part.
