The Last Arclite

Chapter 12 Desperation

Ice Glades
1635 hours

Legendary sat there on the top of the frozen mountain that was at least a mile high. His eyes steady staring off into the blizzard; he seemed oblivious to the 75MPH wind and snow assaulting his body. Attached to his back with a leather strap was a black metal blade, it was huge. It was about 5ft long and it was at least 1ft wide. From the handle to the point it went out in both directions a little like a snake coil.

He inhaled and exhaled, it was like watching a bull ready to charge as the hot air coming from his body rose into the air. His chest rose mighty and fell just as gracefully. He stood and then he jumped.

He jumped for 200ft and began to slide down the mountain. Weaving past snow and large rocks that jutted out of the ice. He was going incredibly fast with his right leg out and his left bent so that he looked like he was surfing the mountain. Then just as suddenly as he was on the mountain he was off and he was falling. He went straight over the edge oblivious once again to any danger. He must have been at least ¾ of a mile high and as he fell he outstretched his hands and stared coldly at the ground. Faster and faster until he couldn’t go any faster at all. As he neared the end of his descent he bent backwards so that it looked like he was about to dive into the solid ice and ground at the very bottom. Except that his hands were still outstretched then suddenly he was at the bottom.

There was no thud, there was no crashing impact. Very slowly, Legendary’s big foot with the huge claw like nails tip touched the blistering snow.

It was an odd sight really, seeing a virtually naked creature of such great mass land like a feather from a high descent, along with a deadly looking blade.

He was now at a flat plain of open snow, with a large cluster of trees all around him. The blizzard was not as bad here at the bottom but the winds were still enough to kill a human. He stood to his full height. Something to his right caught his eye.

“Legendary!”

He turned towards the voice.

Out of the haze of the blizzard emerged a stalker about 20ft away from Legendary. It stopped there and now Legendary could clearly feel his energy which the stalker did well to mask earlier. As he had been watching and waiting for Legendary to descend from the mountain which he himself could not traverse due to the unforgiving weather. He was wearing cloth all around his body. A black metal chest plate and shoulder plates. He had with him a pair of long blades probably no more then 4ft long also made of black metal. He was barefoot, showing three extremities with three big spiky nails. This Stalker’s name is Nivoda and has been alive for the better time of 2000 years.

Legendary just stared intently at this creature which challenged him.

“Nivoda your brother and his clan had fallen dark I hade to harvest their dark energy.”

“Why, so you may grow yet stronger, do you fear the return of Azrael? Yes that must be it, if you must keep taking the darkness of others.”

“I have no fears, I only concern of the safety of my kind, and I do not wish to kill you.”

“No, I am not here to challenge you I am not a fool that wishes to die. So is it true that Azrael may return?”

“There’s no way that I can truly give you an answer other than I am slowing it down by taking in as much dark energy as I can.”

“The clans have been preparing for over a thousand years, and they question whether your dreams of the apocalypse are definite. They have been waiting for Azrael to return with his army of the fallen.”

“I alone can rid of Azrael, when the time comes I will be ready. I only ask of you to safeguard my kind, and more importantly the prophecies, at least four must survive for the time being.

“As you wish, I have already sent four of my most cunning to the city to retrieve the first while Leviathan creates the distraction.”

“Once the prophecy is secured bring it to me. Only two of them are truly capable of my gift, I intend to find which one it is. I sense one is already here.”

“Legendary there is something the sages wish to know?”

Legendary stared through the stalkers eyes. They had no pupils just a white oval inside sockets. He looked right through them into the Stalkers mind. Both possessed a cunning quality of a skill full silence.

“Yes the myth is true”

“Is it stronger then you? I find that hard to believe”

“I do not know Nivoda, now leave me I must meditate.”

“Fine, I don’t understand why you choose such a desolate place to meditate.”

Nivoda walked into the storm and was gone in a matter of moments. The footsteps slowly faded away into the snow. Legendary would wait there and ponder the possibility of such a creature that would be neither Pheonix nor Arclite, but Anthex.

Dry Plains
1635 Hours

Xander looked on as the 300 Pheonix emerged over the horizon. It looked nightmarish as the sun burned from orange to blue, and shadows danced off in the distance.

Xander pulled the nearest Arclite too him.

“Fetch the metal that the Prophet wore, return it to him and tell the Elite Guards to come. Tell the young bloods to go underground this is going to be a last stand.”

Overdose watched as a Arclite separated from the group from far away and came running in his direction, one of his guards met it half way and after a few moments and gestures split up. His guard coming back and the other going towards the center of the village, the guard brushed past him quickly and showed up again moments later. He was carrying his Power Armor.

To tell the truth it wasn’t normal power armor. The standard issue power armor was Titan Power Armor. After the syndicate no longer serviced the P generation hybrids the TPA was old technology and outdated. So Overdose spent some time stealing plans from the syndicate. He came across the plans for Atronach Power Armor and Genesis Armor. Plans for the Genesis Armor were not yet in motion so Overdose went ahead and copied the APA plans. This Armor was much more advanced then the Original Armor and made full use of all the current technology. It came equipped with a great assortment of tools on the left arm piece, a low caliber gun on the right arm piece. The Armor itself was gas, fire, electrical and water proof to a certain point. Along with being resistance against high caliber rounds and high impact resistant. Originally designed so infantry units could combat a Mech, like a Goliath without the use of excessive firepower.

When Overdose saw that the Arclite was carrying his Armor his eyes lit up.

“Ready yourself for battle my friend”

Overdose just nodded and began to put on his armor. A series of clicks and hydraulic locks and pressurizing sounds were heard.

Not far away Dust watched in disgust. He felt something very wrong within Overdose’s soul. He could not place it directly, but he sensed a presence of greed.

When Overdose finally stood the sight was truly amazing, and foreign to such a creature as dust.

Overdose stood straight upward now covered completely in metal. He looked about himself as he stretched his arms outward and extended his fingers. His whole mechanical figure gave off a sense of security amongst the Elite Arclites that had been ordered to guard Overdose.

Overdose’s APA was Black and Silver. The head piece had a sleek face, there were two visors which were little bigger then eyes, and tinted in a gold-ish color. The neck guard was a sleek black and did well to give a thin look despite Overdose’s thick neck. His arms were fully covered and the elbow pieces had a small spike erecting from the very end. To put it simply there was no visible part of Overdose that gave any hint that there was a living thing inside the suit of metal.

The most distinguishing characteristic of Overdose’s APA was the head piece. On the sides were the wearer’s ears would be there was a set of metallic ears. They were as deadly as they looked; sleek and sharp they were meant for a last resort head butt, from behind.

Dust looked on in horror as Overdose raised his right arm and took aim in his direction. Dust braced himself momentarily and a deafening blast was heard. Dust felt his legs weaken and crumble slightly. Overdose was still staring at Dust as he lowered his arm.

Dust looked down to see a Pheonix with its head blown in at his feet.

He looked back up to see Overdose and his 6 Elite Arclites making their way to Xander.

“I know Dust, I feel it too”

Dust looked as Lorn came up from behind him.

“Are the others underground?”

“Yes they are safe; you and I should make our way to them, Xander will do what he can”

“I hope Xander does not parish as our last Superior”

“As do I brother, as do I”

Good read. Almost sounds as though they don't need to wait for Legendary but get the Stalkers to save the day. And only two of the Hybrids are going to be chosen? Must be Overdose and Hazzard then ... or Ghost? Nah, Ghost is history. :p

Looking forward to the next part.

Yes he did, and Chris guessed it, good job haha.

And Kiwinz Ghost was ment as a counter hybrid. Since Black-Tech couldn't obtain the DNA code that helped make the Prototype Hybrids so special.
