Problems with the Ship Installer ?

This is a thread to hopefully gather information about problems with installing ships.

If you have problems, first check that you are running the latest version of the Ship Installer, and the latest version of the ship file.

And please include details on these things:

• Procedure used to install the ship
  
• Any other ships that you have installed, and if they worked before installing the broken ship
  
• The base mod you are currently using, including the version number
  
• The ship file and version you are using and where you got it from
  
• The details of the exact problem thats happening
  

This will hopefully help me find any problems and help improve later versions of the game.

Theres usually several possible causes of the problems, and i need to determin which it is.

1. Human Error, installing wrong, mistake in settings, etc
2. Installer Bug, not installing or creating the iles correctly
3. Logic Error, the files are created as they should according to the installer, but might need to work in a different way
4. Invalid XSP, the xsp file might not have been created properly.

Then the possible fixes for these

1. Find ways to make the installer simpler and easier to use, more error checkign etc, to prevent mistakes
2. Find and fix the bug in the installer so it installs correctly
3. Work out the correct way the installer should be creating the data files
4. Making sure the ship creator is creating things correctly and making it easier to create ships.

Installed into my E drive(same drive as game is on) Dl'd the XSP ships from your page Galactica and Viper Mk.2 Clicked the install and it worked great...I am using DDRS 2.3.8 All of the ships worked great before installing the two above.

Started a new game and used the cheat to create the ships to make sure it had worked, and it did except now all of DDRS's TL, TP,TS ships dont have any texture in the game they show up as invisible targets

Uninstalled the two ships and reinstalled DDR'S and they all worked fine...dont think there is anything you can do it looks like a compatibility problem or maybe I am just doing some thing stupid?

any advice or reply would be most appriciated, thanks

it works on mine so its not really a compatably problem, u could try selecting base mod to standard game, then reselecting DDRS and c if that works

hi the things i did

reinstalled x3 compleet fresh with update 1.0 to 1.4.03

then the modd ddrs.shistation_mod_v2.3.8

installed the ship instalation frome ur webb with latest patch.

then downloaded Asguard O'Neill Class Battle Cruiser - M2 - By Balogt

klikked on it to install. as standart x3 directory and base mod of ddrs

message succesfull installed .

then i went into the game looked in all knows schipwarfs and came up noting went into script to get me that schip even noting culdnt find one so what do i do wrong here ?

plz help

you should find it in the paranid shipyards, if its not there, try either reselecting the X3 directory by going to browse and select it again, or copy the scripts from the program directory.

some issues

i have downloaded alot of ships at ur webbsite

and experimented with out mods the thing is why only minbary ships
r in the game with out the ddrs modd pakage or with out any mod's ?

some reason the others ships u cant have acces to in scripts just minbary so is there a way to have all the ships with out mods ?

so when u use ship installer selecting standard x3 directory

and with standard game no mod selecting

you could try reinstalling the ships, but i did test all the ships on my site and they all were working in game.

have you tryed installing them seperatly ?

u could start from scratch, delete the shipcreator.cat and .dat files from the mods directory, and delete the ShipInstall directory, then you can install the ships again form scratch and c if they work.

have you used the cheat scripts to see if they appear in game ?

I have a problem with the ship installer, it doesn't seem to work unless I run the custom ship mod. i've installed the ships tothe ddrs mod and updated the mod and the ship installer but the ships just won't appear on the game. any surgestions?

you've set the base mod as DDRS ?
and when you run the game, in the Select Mod Package option, you select the Ship Creator Mod ?

I've set the base mod as the ddrs mod on the ship installer, and run the game on the ddrs mod but the ships don't come up.
should i be running the game the the ships installed to the ddrs mod and play in on the ship creator mod?

I, to have noticed that it dosent sem to work with DDRS...which....REALLY, piss's me off since i REALLY, REALLLLLLYY want all the custom ships i DL'ed and DDRS..

THis..though, stupid question..do i select DDRS as mod, or Ship Creator 8the thing the ship creator adds to mod selection*. Because no matter, WHICH i select it dont work..heck, i dont know if DDRS even works with i select ship creator...tis giving me a headach...

i cant put any ships into xtended, whenever i try the shipcreator file is completely empty
