It is not meant to remove asteroids, only rocks .
Build three medium mines and throw the self destruct button on each. Bye bye asteroids.
During script testing I deleted all map asteroids from the universe. After three days I had no repawns. It may suppress it - which is the reason I did not add "mine low yield asteroids" to the mobile miner script*.
* hornet missile and the mobile drilling systems would create rocks when fired at asteroids OOS. The only problem was the asteroid refused to die and more and more rocks would be produced every time it got hit. Now we are talking about an insane amount of rocks here. Anyway, deleting the asteroid seemed like a work around but then there was the problem with the respawns...so that idea got canned.

Sorry for this lame question, im new to using scripts, but how does this affect your saved game?
If i do a fresh install of X3 and load my saved game without rocks, would they spawn again?

Where I can find a current and active download of Romove Rocks? And will it work with X3/2.0.02?
I am unable to get the file from the updated thread for this subject.
I found the file for Less Rocks just fine.
Thanks,
AJ

Well you won't find it in the X Universe forum. Moved to Scripts and Modding where it belongs.

Yes.
(In fact I don't know, but as nobody complained and this script still exists, I have reason to say so.)
The problems with 2.0.02 are mostly with mods, almost none with scripts

Works fine with v2.0.02. Just started a new install and new game with 2.0.02 and removed the rocks w/o a problem. As this is a "manually run" script rather than and "active" script, it doesn't hurt saved games (ie: a saved game with rocks removed would probably work with any version of X3, current or future). This script is on my Top 3 "must have" scripts/mods for any game of X3. Love it!

Should be fine - although in clean universe mode it might miss some sectors on the bottom right of the map. IIRC it covers sectors with co-ordinates up to 25,25.
If not, then it is 30 seconds to fix it.
BTW. No problem with raising old threads in scripting forum as long as it is relevant to the script.
Cheers

And sometimes it's nice to have an old thread resurrected! I loved what this utility did for me and newer folks might not know about it!

Resurrecting this again sorry Ran this last night on my save when the lag hit ~2fps and tried to remove all the rocks in the universe, which it claimed it did instantly according to the log, is this likely or has it gone wrong? there was no change in savefile size or lag
BTW running XTM 7.2 and bonus pack .06 and 2.0.0.2

No problem - I just checked it with my XTM game and the rocks were removed.
But there are three things to watch out for
1. With mode four (clean universe) you must select a sector, it doesn't matter which one. If you enter null then the script will refuse to work.
2. While the script is running the auto pilot X is on the screen - don't move the ship while it is running as this will terminate it early. Just wiat for it to finish. On XTM the universe is big - it took 20 seconds on aged machine to complete.
3. If there are rocks in sector then they will not disappear until you reenter the sector.
Cheers
