UFO's and Unknown Races?

First post, but been playing since just before xmas.

Had 2 questions, not sure if they are linked at all....

1) On the pilot statistics panel, it shows a percent of how much each race likes you. Theres one heading called "unkown". What/who does that refer to?

2) Call me crazy, but I also spotted a spacecraft/UFO that was travelling at 300m/s between two gates, though I don't remember the sector. It was not a regular spacecraft belonging to one of the races, it looked like a flying saucer and had its own unique icon on the sector map. Unfortunatly it was out of scanning range and I had no chance of getting close to it in a Nova. Any info on this sighting please?

the UFO is indeed very real, its been in every X game since X-tension AFAIK

unkown is for the ufo you seen.
and the ufo is an easter egg. oly good it get a harrier that has max spped follow it around. that will help map out some of the sectors for yea.
