Just wondering if I could get a little advice here. Been using the camoflage device, but I'm still losing ships, about ten percent per night. (I have similar luck in the stock market). Am I ruining the ability of this device by outfitting my UT's with BPACs and a "Protect Ship" command? Does the purchase of mercenaries to protect my UT's also disrupt the ability of this device?
Thanks!

Try this script with the satellite-based mk3 UT script. I've not lost a ship in months.
As far as the gun question, I've never armed my traders. It's my philosophy they'd be more inclined to stay and fight if armed, rather than jump out immediately.

Salut à ensemble
@nrich61:
The software should be avaiable at the Terracorp HQ, the sector south of AP.
And well, the software doesn't make u really invisible, it's like to bluff the enemies. I would say, the Kha'ak and most of the Xenon are to intelligent, and find out soon, that it is YOU in the ship and not a friend (do they have friends?!). But at least most Pirats are friendly now, and it makes a better chance for your MK3- trader to survive, if he/she/it is equiped with the software.
I think, that is how I would discribe this software, it's cheap, and for that price, it works great

well, its a problem of the enemy ships and their running scripts, as also of their tasks and priorities (-> have a look into the enemy's task lists). I am using XtendedMod, and here a lot of more enemy and enemy battlegroups appear. Therefore I tried the Camouflage device ST1. But, still I got shot. So I tested a little bit, and looked into the code.
I changed the scripts:
1.) plugin.camouflageST1.player.xml
- comment all releation settings - they are not real needed, only to show the ships inside the sector map as friends.
| Code: |
...
e.g.:
007 *[THIS] -> set relation against Argonen to Freund
... |
A word, why I let the releation as they are on side of my ships/traders:
I am using Lucikes scripts to trade. These scripts and a lot of others (e.g. UniTrader, Sat.deploy,...) refere to the enemy settings done on the command page of your ships. If you change these settings inside the script, you have several disadvantages, e.g. fly through Xenon Sectors .
2.) plugin.camouflageST1.enemy.xml:
Here change the line 06 to
So, now the timer works, before it was not used.
| Code: |
| 026 [THIS] -> set relation against $CamouflageShip to Friend |
Well, it will be changed by the ship itself later one, so its ok for the moment to let it be a friend.
and now it comes (still testing it, but it seems working quite fine):
3.) plugin.camouflageST1.player.xml (again)
| Code: |
...
059 * New enemy - start script on enemy with neccessary settings
060 skip if $ENEMY -> is script 'plugin.camouflageST1.enemy' on stack of task=0
061 $ENEMY -> interrupt task 0 with script 'plugin.camouflageST1.enemy' and prio 999: arg1=[THIS] arg2=$Timer arg3=$ScanRange arg4=$WaitTimeOnEnemy
062 *$ENEMY -> start task 7780 with script plugin.camouflageST1.enemy and prio 0: arg1=[THIS] arg2=$Timer arg3=$ScanRange arg4=$WaitTimeOnEnemy arg5=null
... |
As seen, I changed the code, commented out the normal script start, now I interrupt the enemys script and force them to use the camouflage code instead.
( Idea came from Xais NOS - thanks ).
Hopefully you can use this changes as a workout.
regards
wanderer
Hm, thinking: This may be a way to e.g. say Battlegroups (M8,M1,M2,...) have a higher rate of detection...
RECAP. after some Testing:
Wow, its now quite impressive... My traders are running through the Xenon Sectors without interference, also no problems with pirates, khaaks, etc... - Maybe now its to good to use - will see what I can do about above idea...
Also, a hint/idea: switch on the cam.Device on all your ships, now let the pc run (SINZA?) - over night you should get quite some bargin

Excuses I must disappoint you, it, however, does not work.
I fly to a xenon sector with activated device (your changes are used), and I was dead after only 30 seconds.
The first 3 or 5 ships stops the attack on me but the other ships fire all guns to my Test-Discoverer.
And this result I have with the old script-settings too.

hm, can you post the scripts, which are running on those ships?
Maybe they have no interrupt's inside. In this case your right, they go on and cannot be stopped.
INFO for the engl. speaking audiance: Will be discused further (how to develop it more) in the german forum. Will post new info/upcomings when we get some more light into this here as well.

I think 2808 credits is a bit too cheap, ridiculously cheap.
What of X3's stock camouflage device?

OK not sure what's being said here?
Do you mean I have to change the scripts myself i.e. the green writting or are those the changes you made to the script?
The script I downloaded and bought and then activated on my ships. The device works fine agains pirates but not against Xenons.
how do I tell what version I am running in game as I already had this plugin loaded and on my ships when I downloaded it again at a later date and overwrite the scripts in t and script folders.
Would I have to stop them running on all ships, kick the old devices out and buy new ones? and even make sure they have stopped running in the global scripts?
Edit: Maybe I should have said that I have XTM running on my game. I also noticed that Xenons was switched to no as friends in the IA I switched it to friends to see if that made any difference figuring if they was on no then it my interfere with the Camo script but even when they are on friends they still are red and very hostile.
Edit: Ok so they are soposed to remain red... well that may be what I didn't understand.
I think the massive ships can shoot over a lot longer range and that is what is happening. The smaller ships do not seem to attack unless I attack them maybe. I will try getting close to the small Ls and stuff to see.
any way thanks.
Stay safe!

Nope this Script does not work with Xenons. At least not patrols.
I have downloaded the 1.04C deleted all other Camo files from scripts and t folders replaced them with 1.04C files, went bought the device
 |
| (you can buy it from Talardi, The headquarters in Home of light and the research station in Great Trench). |
|
Went to ship's command and loaded it in so the ship is running the device. Then set off to find Xenons and an LX Turret started to shoot me to bits.
5MJ shield is no good when up against 14 Xenon ships lol.
Stay safe!
