Pop up's

Post by .SW-880 » Sat, 18. Oct 03, 21:54

I must have been using the internet for to long because my dreams last night were interupted by constant pop up's and adverts. My dream would become obscured by an advert for some unknown website or free prize give away. I would have to concentrate on the "Close" button to make the window go away so my dream would continue only to be interupted again a few minutes later. I must be loosing it :o

If your running Windows XP, enable your XP Firewall!

I used to always get POPUP's all the time, which was very annoying when playing X-Tension because it used to crash the game back to Windows. But since I started using the XP Firewall I have not had one single POPUP on my desktop.

By the way I'm not talking here about POPUP's while your browsing the internet, it doesn't stop them! I talking about them dam POPUP's that just appear on your desktop when your not browing the internet, and have a cable connection that's always online.

This solved my problem anyway!

Plus the XP Firewall is not over complicated, when I try to access something like a Music online file to play or something, I just get a message asking if I will give access to the file. Easy, just choose YES!

Get Mozilla Firebird (www.mozilla.org)!

Its fast, comfortable and blocks Popups automaticially! (you can unlock sites that are allowed to show popups)

Since I use it I dont touch the Microsoft Internet Exploiter again, except for the DevChat which uses some IE-only Stuff... :)
