|
|
I don't know if this can be scripted or whether it can be edited outside of the game but I was wondering:
Is it possible to have a global rename script where I can select several ships and then end my selection and all ships would be renamed with a prefix (which I have tpyed in) and followed by a number. For instance, I select the rename script, type in 'Red 1 Group 1 highlight the ten ships, one at a time and then click on something else to end the selection. Ecah ship would rename to Red 1 Group 1 1, Red 1 Group 1 2, etc.
Another thought, is it possible to edit the ship names from Windows. Is there a file which can be viewed and then edited? If it can, it may be possible to write a program to view this and return all ships which can then be manually overtyped using copy, paste and other text editing functions.
Any ideas?

Grab my X3RPM from my signature thread. It will set up a basic website linked to your X3 game. As long as a you have a second computer on a network with your X3 system, you could access your game from the other computer and do all your renaming that way, which is much easier.

It may be me, but the link on your site for the Remote software seems to point to your develpment of the editor software.
I have got a copy now though from the sticky.
