Please test this savegame for freezing.

I am posting the poll in this forum and not the Tech Support forum because my intent is to find out how common the freezes are among the general public, and not just among those that already have problems.

Here's a savegame which freezes my game (repeating sound freeze) consistently after about 30-50 sec w/o the need for any input from the user. This savegame is from fairly far into the game with the plot finished and with a number of player-owned stations and ships, including capital ships (probably close to 2 billion credits in assets and cash). Feel free to experiment with it, if it doesn't freeze for you. If there are requests, I can also post a non-freezing savegame from 35 min before this one.

To install and test:
1) Right click on the link above and choose "Save Target as". Pick your favorite directory or the default X3 savegame directory "C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\Egosoft\X3\save" or simply "My Documents\Egosoft\X3\save" folder.
2) If you chose the default savegame directory, select overwrite, and it will overwrite the last of three automatic savegames - #22. Otherwise, copy the savegame to the directory shown above.
3) Start X3 and load the last savegame on the list (farthest right savegame #22).
4) Wait 20-30 sec or enable SETA. The game will either freeze before 17:18 on the in-game timer, or it will not.
5) If the game does freeze, resetting the computer would be one way to get out of it (but make sure that there's no harrdive activity at the moment of reset, I will not take the responsibility of someone's harddrive data loss due to a reset while some data is being written to the harddrive).

Please come back here and answer the poll question after you are done testing.

Will give it a try when I'm home from work and let u know.

I've had a few of the "sound loop" crashes myself. Are you using a soundcard? Just had a tip from another forum user that a soundcard gives a good fps boost, I'm using onboard sound and I'm wondering if our problems may be related to this in some way?

Cycrow: I guess you can mark it as freeze, if it doesn't even load for you.

Capt. Scarlet: There are scripts in the game, but I've tested this extensively - even when all scripts are deleted, the game will load and freeze after a short while.

banjaxo: my soundcard is Audigy 2 ZS.

Mark here as freeze then please.

Perhaps my estimate of 15-20 sec is incorrect. It should be in about ~5-10 sec in SETA x10, now that I think about it.

Hi acrh2,

Your game loads just fine (how long have you been playing??

) it runs for about 30 seconds on my system before locking up entirely - I was checking out the local sector map at the time. Tried it a second time, just letting the game run, & it froze once more after around 30 seconds.

While I've been playing my own game a fraction of the time you have (77-17:16 wow!) it's still a fairly mature game at 15-02:18 & I've not experienced this problem.

Voted as Freeze.

froze after 10-15 secs..but I did notice that the save was nearly 8 mb in size while all mine are between 5 and 6 mb

This is just a copy of the same one, renamed from x00 to x22.
That's the only change, the renaming.
I did a file compare just to be sure.
