Freedoms reach mod/script?

Can someone help me pls?
Is there a way to change the race quest in my favour at all?
I find this mission tedious to say the least.
I have tried 5 times now and got no where near to winning, is there a "cheat" I can use to cruise past this please?
A few people have given me tips on the racing (using drift, etc) but this mission is daft and I can't keep up with nor overtake the other racers.
Any help pls?

Overtuning your ship or maybe destroying the other ships via scripts should be possible. I think LV's Cheat package, which can be found in the cheat script sticky at the top of the forum, should provide these functions.

Another more vanilla safe problem-solving approach would be uploading your save somewhere and asking someone to play this part for you. Or, if you aren't that far in your save (haven't built a big empire or the like) you could also download one of Cheeseburger's savegames after this particular mission.

I can tell you for sure... LV's Cheat package (though very useful in many situations) will/can not do the trick here. I tried, several times, and failed each time. I tried destroying the other racers using LV's script, which worked just fine, and flew the race BY MY SELF (so I was the only contester). Still... for some reason the game decided that I lost the race!!!

Though I do remember having beaten the race reasonably easily a couple of years ago (without cheating! No clue as to how I did it though), when I tried the plot again a few months ago, trying and losing the race about ten times in a row made me give up on the plot. I do still wonder... what awfull script-reasoning did the devs put into the decissionmaking weither or not the player wins the race?!
