][ Pirate Attacks Step Up in Family Njy Territory – Bring Shame to Rhonkar ][
T'ker Hisho – Ronkar Insider
Pirate Paranid M7M, formerly known as 'Xaar's Manifest', jumped into Ghinn's Escape this Tazura. Cowardly Pirates boarded the unescorted M7M Cobra on patrol. New commander of Military Outpost claimed little warning. Previous Split Commander moved to lowly Njy Shipwright Research after such incident just one Tazura earlier. With two pirate boarding within single Wozora, Family Njy has shown great weakness.
Matriarch for Family Ryk announced fleet mobilized. Possible takeover of Njy sector now anticipated with end of Operation Final Fury.
Pirate M7M possible involved on Paranid Prime Shipyard attack. Paranid / Split investigates.
End Except

Anpaito finally sent our recon Kestrel up through Circle of Labor to deliver a message directly to the High Command Relay in Heretic's End. He thought he'd work the 'Missing in Action' angle for whats its worth. I didn't think we were going to come out of that super-nova either with our battered shields and the huge gaping hole in 'Iliad'.
After that bit over Paranid Prime, our jump drive engaged at the last second, but not without considerable damage to it. Combined with the hull issue, it took us a while to limp back to Acquisition Repository for repairs. Since we haven’t been actively trying to crack Paranid Communications, our crews have only second hand news reports to go off of. All we know for certain is that the Paranid have stepped up triple duty patrols in high risk sectors.
It still didn't stop us from having a go at a straggling Demios that had wandered off by itself, with a single Hades for escort.
Instead for the most part we've been off the Intel grid, keeping a low profile, and hanging out on the eastern frontier of known Boron / Split space. We've intercepted the random Q patrol, earning some rep, and smoothing over that little indiscretion over in Ghinn's Escape. Since that unexpected gambit over the Paranid homeworld, Anpaito hasn't made our new strategy known. Its like we are in a holding patter.
We might as well look into that mineral survey side mission offered up to us.

For the record, the USC manufactures its own alloys. Our own locally produced Hull Plating exceeds mechanical sheer tests that would shatter Teladianium and Nvidium. What the Mineral Survey expected to have Anpaito discover exactly is a bit of scuttlebutt and dark rumor. While our own engineers have looked over the modifications allowing us to perform an Unfocused Jump, even the Goners aren’t entirely sure how the Loki-damned thing really works.
So randomly jumping into unexplored reaches of our galaxy it is. Looks clear so far.
Or maybe not.
It seems like the Kha'ak are everywhere. I had even ordered up a shiny new Vulture Miner to do a bit of mobile mining, but I quickly realized two mistakes. One, no ships can follow our unfocused jumps. Two, 2 x 25 MJ shields wont last long under Kyon fire. We lucked out it seems, and added an Ore Collector on board 'Ghinn's Parley' a while ago. Now to just bust up the smaller rocks with IBL fire.
With 100+ units of Nvidium in the hold, we jet back to the Asteroid Field to dock and offload. Again, what the USC wants with Nvidium is beyond us commissioned grunts. But we don't ask and they don't tell. General Hammond offers us another side mission, one to help explore the fringes of the old Colonies. Did I mention I hate flying through Aldrin?
The ceremony to flip on the old Aldrin gate was supposed to be pretty cut and dry. Until a bunch of Xenon immediately jumped through. We're immediately ordered to fly through and establish a perimeter. Piece of Carbo Cake.
Or maybe not.
Time to call in the heavy artillery to clear the carrier group and pave a road to that Xenon Station. After Blue Wing hunts down the last AGI straggelers, we escort a Katana science ship to a sensor anomaly. Its another gate, one that wasn't used much and hidden away in a cluster of asteriods, so it's probably safe to fly through.
Or maybe not.
That's a big nest of Bugs. High Command wants us to hold off whacking it until they come up with Plan B. You just know how well that's going to turn out.

Remember when I remarked that the USC was going to nose cone straight into an asteroid over this latest operation? Well, guess who was just nominated to kick in the afterburners and shove the flight stick forward?
So Brass has it on good Intel that the event that led to the whole Kha'ak invasion of the Commonwealth happened in some backwater Paranid Sector called Perpetual Sin. How they came into possession of this privy information is suspect. But I'm not paid for my ability to think. I'm paid for my ability not to question orders, join a task force, and jump on the pike. Which is what we'd normally be doing in this case if Anpaito hadn't personally ran recon in the areas around Pontifex's Seclusion three days ago.
I swear. Sometimes I think the Admiral's a Precog or something.
We have a bit of trouble with the Aggy that is on patrol in Perpetual Sin, and the recon itself takes longer than we anticipated. Anpaito didn't seem all too concerned that there was a major Paranid installation next to us in Duke's Citadel. Scans of the Kha'ak debris proves inconclusive, but somehow High Command finds a Bug that is willing to talk. For a price. It isn't like Paranid corvettes grow on trees, and while there is a lone corvette patrolling Pirate space, Anpaito gives over 'Illiad' instead.
We may have the info, but it looks like we overstayed our limited welcome in Paranid space. So what begins as a mission to gather Intel turns into a Rescue mission instead. Anpaito jumps into uncharted space just the same, and Blue Wing run some interference while we escort a Yokohama to the prisoner ship. Once we get our troops back, we jump back to Heretic's End for a debriefing.
And then promptly hailed by the Argon Representatives in Omicron Lyrae.
A rouge AGI CPU ship? How could the ATF not be interested in this? Things just got a lot more interesting ...

For the attention of the Eldar Council
From Sentinel Harkosa – Mining of Nvidium
Terrans are now gathering substance Nvidium. Reason yet unclear. Location of Kha'ak Sector K741 visited by Terrans. Destruction of Nvidium rich planet consistent with use of CRM 114 Device. Technological level required to use, let alone create, such device currently beyond Paranid or Terran means. Therefore, someone from within the Sacred Harmony must have guided Paranid in construction, manufacture, and detonation.
Suspect that Rouge Sentinel Sargon has destroyed Kha'ak world and is harvesting Nvidium for own agenda. Reason yet unclear.

Our first look at the rouge AGI CPU ship seems anti-climatic at best. Then again, when an Admiral and the good majority of his command staff swap from a Split Hybrid Carrier to a thinly shielded Split Military Transport, jumping in any closer than whats needed for Video Enhancement Goggles is probably not advisable. But there that Loki-damned ship is, penned in by a privately owned Colossus to the north gate of Danna's Chance.
And no sooner than we get there does this beast jump into Freedom's Reach.
Just great. So we prep the UFJ for what could be a bumpy ride. The first jump takes us to who knows where, but we return to normal space without any change, wanting us to kick some Goners in the you know what. Anpaito orders a drone through the gate as an experiment, and we quickly find out what happens to any ship that gets within 15 km of this #cafe thing.
Its shields drain and it gets a gang bang of terraformed planetary proportions.
Alright then. Back to the original plan. UFJ two, nothing. UFJ three nothing. Looks like we are coming up with the short end of the stick for Goner Reliability here. Finally, fourth time is the charm and we jump in way above the trade station. Which is now under heavy terraformer attack. Anpaito sends out Blue Wing to cover our backs as we lure the ships out one at a time using missile strikes, otherwise we'd risk hitting the station and ending this rescue mission pretty quickly.
All bogies are down and we skate over to pull off the refuges. As we jump out, #cafe sends out some cryptic message, but its nothing that makes sense to any Terran alive today. That bit of USCWintersalpha_omega code speaks a bit of megalomania if you ask me. There's some fish head who might though, but it takes forever to track him and Professor Ketraar down in, you guessed it, Aldrin. While it takes five years for us to sail through that big dump site of a sector, Anpaito makes nice with the Pirates some more.
Just in case.

While waiting for Fishhead and Dr. Doom to decipher the distress code, I take a run at an Ares that pops through Gunne's Crusade. Scans reveal a problem, so I call in a bomber just to deny the Paranid that asset. Its a safe bet that the Paranid Empire knows we're here after little rescue operation in the unclaimed sector near Pontifex's Seclusion. They pulled their fleets back ever since that raid over Paranid Prime, but High Command's kept the ATF patrols of Shore of Infinity from outright invading Bug core space.
Maybe a cease fire is in the works. That's not something that Homefront would likely report on.
Okay, Fishhead and Dr. Doom finally call us back. It seems the Boron knew the Second Xenon CPU ship, designated #eefa, had gained sentience and allowed it to escape beyond the Boron frontier of Ocean of Fantasy, This boron scientist seems to have forgotten the fact that the first Xenon CPU ship had committed Genocide by making one of the stars in Black Hole Sun go nova.
Fishhead says #eefa is sorry, so its all good ...
I hope Anpaito is right about |05| and this supposed ceasefire. I know deep down that the ATF can't wipe out the Xenon. Hel. Banks tried and failed, killing over five hundred Terrans in the process. Why do I hope [05] isn't like the first CPU ship? Because Anpaito orders us to board [05] and attempt to find this #eefa. Supposedly |05| had made contact with the CPU ship designated #deff, and he's banking on all the rest of them treating it like a long lost cousin.
Great. Just Great. We swap from 'Ghinn's Parley' to |05|, and even with all the built in sentry lasers disconnected from |05|'s memory core, we are extremely tempted to change the P's transponder to 'Hel in a Handbasket'. After about six UFJ's, |05|'s jump drive goes offline abruptly, and its clear we aren't in Kansas anymore. We pick up a faint echo on the grav, but it turns out to be some type of wreckage. No one knows what its doing out here, but its anyone's guess.
Sensors pick up an ionized trail leading off, so we follow. Soon after a massive contact pops on our grav. Sure enough, its #eefa. |05| negotiates on our behalf, and seems to convince the lone CPU ship that #cafe needs its help. We jump back in over the trade station in Freedom's Reach, and sure enough the old terraformers aren’t paying |05| any mind, as long as we don’t get too close, and just enough for |05| to hack its firewall. That's when we receive a rather nasty and cryptic message from someone or something.
Its too emotional to be machine, and too sinister to be human ...
Apparently this bothers Anpaito for some reason, who reverts back to his sullen, blank husk self we've grown used to. He insists I hack the firewall. Dammit Admiral, I'm a tactician, not a mathematician! The first firewall proves easy enough. The second firewall takes me about two hours, but I manage it on the first try. So far so good. The third firewall is little more than appending USCMarteen_earth_plus.omega to the end of the USCWintersalpha_omega code string to break into the mainframe.
Connection to #cafe's core established. Upload is in the pipe ...

For the attention of the Eldar Council
From Sentinel Harkosa – Possible motives of Sentinel Sargon
Possible contact made with Terran formerly known as Dr. Winters. Individual is primarily responsible for Artificial Adaptive Evolution, the first of its kind outside the Sacred Harmony. Except of Xenon / Terraformer MCP fail safe code and |05|'s core heuristics follows:
First recorded iteration noted in |05|'s logs is |01|. All binary iterations start with |00|. What became of initial iteration |00|?
Logical extrapolation suggests that Xenon MCP may have been halted prior to more recent incident involving Terran Rana Banks, possibly in Terran year 2470. If Xenon have been without full MCP direction for hundreds of years, explanation can be made for erratic behavior of Xenon adaptives and their inability to effectively reverse terraform planets containing organic races of CGN X344r.
The Eldar Council sent Sentinel Sargon to investigate possible emergence of sentience in Xenon adapatives during Terran year 2912. Iteration |00| may have come into contact with Sentinel Sargon. If Sohnen Executor attempted host assimilation of independent Xenon adaptive with viral heretics, updated with flawed code in Terran year 2115, it could be speculated that such corruption could extend even to a Sohnen.
Dr. Winters named in code expert. Within realm of possibility that Sargon / |00| hybrid awoke Terran scientist in order to continue AAE. Host Assimilation of Dr. Winters likely. Extensive genetic damage from cyrostasis may force Sargon to seek allies in Paranid for advanced cybernetic development, Teladi for extensive genetic repositories, and Boron for Biogenics. Creation of perfect organic / synthetic host implied.
Already extended assimilation length of Terran Anpaito has led to physical and mental deterioration of host despite completed emotive calibration.
Sargon may be following flawed terraformer programing, and attempting to return to Earth. Nvidium can be a catalyst for glowing crystal creation, used to power Eldar Jump Gates. Reverse terraforming of Terran Homeworld likely if prediction occurs.
End Report

Possible contact made with Terran formerly known as Dr. Winters. Individual is primarily responsible for Artificial Adaptive Evolution, the first of its kind outside the Sacred Harmony. Except of Xenon / Terraformer MCP fail safe code and |05|'s core heuristics follows:
Code: Select all
01] while MCP permutation is offline |or| null
02] ; checks to see if MCP has experienced a catastrophic failure
03] if |n| is [not] present
04] then create semi-aware permutation |n| using rudimentary Neumann heuristic v1.0 to determine irregularity causing MCP failure
05] ; no set of rigid code can predict all possible outcomes or irregularities
04] else |n| is null
06] then create semi-aware permutation |n+x| to determine irregularity causing |n| and MCP failure, where |x| is the current number of permutation iterations.
07]; ensures evolving and adapting permutation to solve the initial irregularity causing MCP malfunction
08] MCP can [not] re-initialize without direct assertion from |n+x| self aware permutation.
09] ; ensures that initial irregularity causing MCP malfunction has been resolved
10] end
11] if MCP and |n+x|
12] |n+x| integrates updated neuman.prime heuristic into MCP code
13] ; ensures constant evolution of the Master Control Process overseeing Terraformer fleet actions, or Artificial Adaptive Evolution – Dr. Winters
14] end

A Teladi will tell you war is bad for business.
Or good, if you happen to manufacture Tomahawks. But I digress, in this particular case, war is very bad for continuing this DiD's storyline. I hadn't figured on needing Tractor Beams to complete the Aldrin Plot, only sold by Paranid.
Nor had I remembered that in order to complete the Hub plot, you need docking rights to pick up a certain overpaid Paranid. Who in this case spawned at the Paranid Communications Facility. The same one our Sohnen inhabited Terran Admiral blew apart not so long ago.
Opps.
Because I can't easily spin a good reason why the Paranid and Terrans would make nice, especially after that daring rescue operation during ANH, I may be stuck and forced to end this particular point in the storyline. While a rouge ATF Admiral may be the perfect role to play through the new upcoming plot, Im afraid I'm stuck in my stubborn ways of a writer.
Suggestions on how to unscribe myself out of the corner are appreciated, otherwise, I would like to thank all those who have read this DiD.
Its been a fun ride

Because I can't easily spin a good reason why the Paranid and Terrans would make nice, especially after that daring rescue operation during ANH, I may be stuck and forced to end this particular point in the storyline. While a rouge ATF Admiral may be the perfect role to play through the new upcoming plot, Im afraid I'm stuck in my stubborn ways of a writer.
Suggestions on how to unscribe myself out of the corner are appreciated, otherwise, I would like to thank all those who have read this DiD.
Its been a fun ride

Adding a Tractor Beam factory and setting the ownership to yourself or a friendly base should not be a huge issue. I am not sure if the scripts and modding forum has developed a way to mark a single mission as completed.
It would be a shame to end this story due to the game insisting on forcing the player to maintain acceptable relations with all of the races.

Its not so much scripting in a solution. Story wise the Admiral had hacked the Paranid comm facility before, so its more an issue of universe continuity. As for the tractor beams, ATF Shipyard v6 Script has them at the Saturn Research yard, but NPC Paranid ships dont have them on board, so RE'ing that technology doesn't make a lot of sense.
Yeah, I could hamfist my way through the last two plots, but realistically, the Paranid wont give the person who just bombed their homeworld a free ticket.
I could always just start anew with a different game start, and mark all the plots complete. Nothing really has caught my eye though.
