30 Years of EGOSOFT games - June 2018 Celebration Month!

Greetings all,

While we've been working away on X4: Foundations, it has come to our attention, that it has been 30 years since our first game, Hotel Detective, was released back in June 1988 on the Amiga!

As we hit this milestone, we invite you to celebrate with us throughout June 2018!

First off, while we have been keeping relatively quiet on X4: Foundations as of late, rest assured that we are still hard at work. While we may not have any large X4 data-bursts this month, we do want to share some never-before-seen screenshots of our upcoming game. We hope you enjoy them!

To help celebrate the 30 years, will have a new Live Stream on our Twitch channel, on June 20th at 19:00 CEST (18:00 BST, 12:00 CDT, 10:00 PDT).

In this stream we will try to show some of our earliest games and talk a bit about the history of the company and how it has changed over the decades.

Speaking of our games, the EGOSOFT Shop is running with a discount for the month of June!

And finally, we would like to thank you, the community, for all the support over the many years. 30 years is an achievement we are incredibly proud of and we could not have done it without you!

Those screenshots are desperately pretty! I started with X3 Reunion when, while looking through a game shop, I was intrigued by the idea of a space sim where you could build fleets and stations. I certainly wasn't disappointed. I'm so glad you guys are here making these unique, fantastic games.

Congrats on the milestone of 30yrs. Sounds fun the stream, it will be interesting showing non x games from ur company and how they were made etc, might be hard getting them to stream using emulators but i guess u figured it out if ur gona show em in action. Hopefully at end of stream you can show a few ships not seen yet in x4 perhaps.

Same! I think X4 will be the great, defining realisation of the "cities in space" idea started in XR. It'd be so cool to watch ships come and go through that window.

Indeed, its my desktop wallpaper now. But its not just cause it looks pretty, but where it is shot from and what it captures, and its implications. :-)

2nd screening needs a Starbucks there so u can enjoy a coffee and a smoke and watch the ships arrive and go and listen to all the space traffic announcements (presuming there are some).

Nice "Vitruvian Man" comeback logo on that second screenshot ship.

30 years? Wow. Congrats :)

I only became aware of Egosoft in '98 I think it was when I had the very early rolling demo for the then unreleased X-BTF. It must have come on a cover disc or something lol.

I still recall the day myself and a mate (aXeL_UK on the forums) wandered into Cyberdyne Systems (a game shop) in Newbury back in '99 to pick up our copies. Oddly we both came down with some sort of man flu during the following week...

People must have thought we were right weirdos back in the office as we discussed our Flower Farm purchases in game... lol.

Thanks for the peek at X4 and Happy birthday/anniversary!

I'm excited and glad that you all at egosoft sticking to your x guns and are wise enough to be around at it for 30 years.

While it might be interesting to give Hotel Detective a spin, I'll perhaps pass on the director's cut/goty/definitive/special edition/hd/etcetc if you break cadence and pop one out. :P

I get tons of enjoyment playing x!

I can't wait for X4.... so I'll be playing all the x-games until further notice. :D

I started with X3 too, didn't read much at the time of what was really an EGOSOFT game… Now, I'm a totally adict to your products!! :twisted:

And here am I, 11 years on the forum and many more on your games!

It's the good day to thank you all, EGOSOFT, for the thousands of hours I spent on XGames !!!!

Hope you all enjoyed those years…

Can't wait for seeing news about X4 and you all!

Keep up the good work and Happy Birthday again!
