Adjusting sound levels for weapons fire possible?

Post by Halflight » Tue, 5. Jun 18, 14:12

I discovered an old thread talking about this, but the link it provided was dead and it seemed the information may have been out-of-date too.

How can I adjust the sound levels in X3TC so that some sound effects, primarily for certain weapons fire, is no longer earth-shatteringly loud? There are a handful of effects that seem to be souped up to ten times the levels of everything else and half the time I get into combat, I need to turn the volume off just to avoid noise complaints from my neighbours. And to save my ear drums, of course.

Is there a remedy for this? I've looked but have found nothing that addresses it besides that one lone, forgotten thread.

Thanks.

In types\sounds.txt (use the VFS from the X3 Editor 2 to find the latest), the volume of different effect sounds is defined and can be changed.
