How to find drone hauler, X3AP

Post by Andrey12y » Mon, 7. May 18, 21:51

OK, this is rare thing, but it can spawn in my X-universe, right?
What is best way to find it?
Will appropriate entry appear in enciclopedia, when my satellite detect it?
Or only if I open sector map with sat. and drone... or just only if I personally meet that drone?
Thanks

Yes they can. They spawn as part of escorts for M6 and larger ships. They are very rare. When you see one save immediately and cap it (to hell with race rank).

Best way to find them is to have a large satellite network and keep killing ships to force respawns.

Encyclopedia only shows stuff that passes within scanner range of the player ship.

Terran one is about the hardest to get.

Fastest finding:
Save
activate SE
run a search script
Load
fly directly to them

works also for did:
save and quit
copy did save into normal slot load "normal" version
activate SE
run a search script
Load did
fly directly to them

I've encountered one of these but I didn't really give it a second thought, just assumed it was nothing special. Going to have to keep my eye out now. Wiki wasn't very helpful when I checked, according to the wiki there are only two Drone Haulers (Argon and Boron) but on Rougey's site it lists all of them. Even the "Combat" description in wiki states that the Argon version of the Drone Hauler is the fastest M4 in the game which is incorrect since the Split version has a 600m/s speed. I'm guessing this is maybe a difference between AP and TC? Not sure.

Brings me to a similar question. I know about the list of all new ships introduced with AP found here (at least I'm assuming it's comprehensive, if it's missing something I'm not sure): https://www.x3wiki.com/index.php/List_o ... lude_Ships

But trying to search for a list of "trophy" ships in AP is leaving me emptyhanded. I'm finding a few miscellaneous threads which talk about one or two ships specifically, but does anyone know of a comprehensive list of all of the very rare ships, or "one-off" ships in the game that you can only acquire through specific means?

It is not quite so straightforward in X3AP as it was in X3TC since you get a different selection of randomised rare/unique ships placed at each X3AP gamestart and by no means will every type appear in every game. For example, in my long term vanilla X3AP game there were never any Kha'ak M3 fighters in existence. Some more information here.

"Fighter (Kha'ak) (2-6 abandoned at game start)"

Make that 0-6, there were none in my game, just more interceptors/scouts and the corvette.

Wow! Thank you for that list, I've saved it to my computer for future reference. Much appreciated. Already have several I can cross off that list, including my first Drone Hauler (Paranid version) that I just found last night.

Now the hunt begins! That Mobile Pirate Base Hauler sounds like it would be a real trophy... doubt that I'll ever encounter one randomly without using SE and a search mod, though.

The abandoned ships are spawned at the start of the game but are subject to destruction as time progresses. You can check the Sector Management.pck file if you do not believe me.

Mobile Pirate Base Hauler is about the hardest ship since it only exists for a short period so even getting one in the encyclopedia is a feat. Ok killing pirate bases does increase the odds but it is still a pain. Only ever seen one in four playthroughs (and it was gone by the time my boarding ship got to Uranus 3). Function wise though it is just a Mammoth clone so capping one is just for bragging rights.

Thanks for replies and explanations
Already got 3 for now - Argon (escort), Paranid (escort) and Split.
Split is most ineresting - near Medium Orbital Weapons Platform, Ghinn's Escape during Boron invasion. Drone had MOWP as base and new one spawn from south gate, after I capture first. Before this invasion, not a single ship in the sector belonged to the platform.

Got Boron one and use it for short period.
Due to the low maneuverability it has an interesting effect when using turbocharger - very long braking. So it can continuously maintain ~800-1440 m/s.

Now wondering how to find Teladi one.
They not fight other races (like Boron-Split and Argon-Paranid).
Their OWPs in 18 Billions newer attaked, because Xenons always pushing at ScalePlateGreen in all my games since TC...
There are no Kha`aks...
And looks like in my X-universe Teladi do not like to send raids into Xenon sectors. Just some Teladi fleet for a long time chilling at Danna`s Chance and do nothing.

The direction xenon patrols go has a lot to do with where you have linked the HUB. Teladi often send military patrols through the xenon sector near Eighteen Billion. Like all military forces they go to where TS ships belonging to that race are calling for help (being attacked).

I suggest putting Adv Satellites in sectors with Military Outposts and periodically check where owned ships are located.

And I think I found a reliable method.
It is necessary to organize the destruction of the orbital platform.
Soon there is a new platform will appear. And it will have several of its own fighters. In my case, it was necessary to do this twice. For the first time there was a Buzzard. For the second time the drone departed from the nearest shipyard.

Well, if correctly - two times x2 platforms in 18 Billions. Total 4 attempts.
