Can X3TC/X3AP be used without the need for a steam account?

I used to have X3TC years ago, and would like to try out the X3AP .
Not sure i can wait for X4 to be releced.
Tried rebirth but gave up as it was awful.

If X3AP can be played independent of steam , how do i get a copy, and from who ?

Is it an off line game? as i don't wish to be playing online.

The X3: Terran War Pack containing X3TC and X3AP is also available from GOG.

Also, there's a no-Steam exe available from Egosoft's download site once you've downloaded the game from Steam, if you already have a Steam account. It's listed under Downloads/Albion Prelude/Bonus Material on the main page. And no, AP is not an online game.

I went onto GamersGate, paid my money. set up a steam account.
And nothing happened.
No game.
Nothing.

All bit of a bummer. and no game to show for my cash.

It's been a while since I bought a game though Gamers Gate so I can't really give advice on how they distribute their games. I would expect you should have received an e-mail confirmation at least and these usually contain info on how to get your game.

If that doesn't help, you'll have to contact them directly.
