Yeah it's one of your many endearing qualities.

Also she didn't tell the hothead idiot who just got a bunch of people killed the plan to not attack the enemy headon? Wow, what terrible judgement.

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that we can manage to have a 250+ page thread about politics and it only needs a little light moderation, while a Star Wars thread degenerates into name-calling after a mere 5 pages, but it's still disappointing. Take a step back followed by a deep breath, and try again, everyone.

I am a Star Wars fan, I know the movies read quite some of the (old and new) EU books, played a bunch of the games and so far I would say that this is probably my favourite Star Wars movie.

With that opinion I am probably a minority. It wasn't a perfect movie, it had it's flaws, but the good parts more than made up for them.

Mark Hamil really stole the show if you ask me. But there wasn't a single member in the cast who didn't pull his/her weight. I also really liked the performances by Benicio del Toro, who managed to be wonderfully slimy again and Kelly Marie Tran.

Over all great movie. Would certainly recommend it without a second thought.

EDIT: Just realised that I have Revan (from Knights of the Old Republic) as my profile here since forever. Well this will the only time the pic will be relevant till next year around.

Yeah, I didn't think to much of the casino story arc, but I really enjoyed his character and portrayal Smile.

If you haven't you may want to watch Sicario, a really creepy film. He was great in it, really haunting performance.

Indeed another great movie by my soon favourite director Denis Villeneuve. Smile

finally managed to watch it, managed to avoid any spoilers, although that was getting increasingly difficult, which is why I thought I thought I should fit it in this weekend.

Really enjoyed it. Made for a nice evenings movie going experience.

Haven't watched it. Haven't read this thread, except here and there, briefly, avoiding anything that could be a spoiler.

I don't have a burning need to see this movie. So, if I don't, it's no big deal. I have my own classic Star Wars universe in my head, so the story is complete as far as I'm concerned.

But, do I want to see this movie? Should I? Do I need to see it? Considering I love the first three, hate the second trilogy, disliked the last installment, didn't really care much for the "prequel" spinoff, is this a movie that continues the storyline of Luke worth watching?

I think the last Star Wars movie I saw, was Return of the Jedi. Is The Force Awakens (2015) worth watching? If so, I may see if it's on YouTube. Thanks.

I got it on DVD for Christmas. I thought it was OK, although the plot seemed to rely very heavily on extremely unlikely coincidences--I suppose they might turn out to be less coincidental with developments in later movies, though.

Well worth is a rather subjective term to use related to watching entertainment. It only will be "worth it" if you also enjoy it, but that cant be predicted. Assuming you like movies in general and from those you like light-hearted stories about coming of age within a made up universe, then I'd say you will enjoy the 150min of this entertainment.

Its not 2001, Blade Runner or Arrival level of sci-fi though, not by a long shot (but Star Wars never really was if we are honest).

I got the DVD for Christmas, too. But I didn't really like it for a number of reasons. Still what I liked about it was that it felt like a proper Star Wars movie, which initially I was a bit afraid of that it wouldn't when learning that J. J. Abrams is the director. I'm also quite happy with the main cast.
As Ketraar pointed out, if you like these kind of movies or are even interested in Star Wars altogether, I think it's worth watching.

Yes, there are flaws in this new movie, but if we're to be honest there are terrible flaws in return of the Jedi, and even Star Wars wasn't perfect. it was just an iconic movie.

The Empire Strikes back was a near perfect movie. Only 'near' perfect. Of the three it's the one I re-watch most.

I can forgive the Last Jedi many flaws for finally showing Yoda as he was in Empire again, and not as he has portrayed in the prequels, all leapy about and shit.

Ben Shapiro on The Last Jedi

In other news TLJ has failed miserably in China - it has suffered a 92% drop in screenings

Thats unprecedented.

Apparently where the power of the Star Wars Brand is less people watch it on its own merits-

And it fails on its own merits

how is that surprising?

It would be like expecting a late Harry Potter movie to succeed on its own without context.

If you don't know what's going on at least a little. almost nothing in the movie makes sense.
